During the recent windstorm we forgot to retract the awning and it was damaged. I first called the original installer, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The first thing they told us was that the damage wouldn't be covered because we didn't retract it during the wind storm, and the customer service was extremely rude. It also reminded me how difficult it was working with them in the first place, they gave us the runaround for almost 6 months before the original installation. After that, I reached out to Where Shade Is Made, and the difference was night and day. I spoke directly with the owner, who assured me I would get a call Monday morning to schedule the repair. Sure enough, Monday morning I received a call from Jimmy their GM, and from that point on everything was smooth and professional. By the very next day our shade was repaired and working perfectly again. Even better, Jimmy let us know that the repair didn't require as much work as originally expected, which actually made the final cost lower than the quote. That kind of honesty and customer service is rare these days. Thank you Where Shade Is Made for the amazing service. I truly appreciate the professionalism and quick turnaround. The only less that optimal things I would say Is that it took a very long time from order to installation and there was very little follow up after the order was placed - I had to call to get an update status and coordinate scheduling. Although not a deal breaker, I would have loved just a bit more info for planning etc. Finally - as with everything that is actually good quality, the cost was not super low. Giovanni was patient, responsive, and very accommodating while I took my time selecting fabric and stitching, emailing the signed contract, and sending the deposit. From the beginning, Owen was willing to provide a quote upfront, while a competitor refused to quote or wanted to charge $89 just to come take a look. Several handymen and contractors told me my door was basically shot and would need to be replaced. Not true. Owen took one look and knew immediately what the issue was. He repaired everything in about an hour and a half, doing detailed, thorough work--fixing the sliding glass door, track, and handle (which had come loose from how difficult the door was to open and close), and even repairing the adjacent screen door, which we were convinced would also need to be replaced.
