My husband and I recently purchased a place in the South Loop, and we wanted to get the place painted prior to move-in. My husband contacted someone for painting services, and I contacted a few others for quotes. The first person to respond to me was Excellence Painting! Gerardo was so fast with email response time, and he was the ONLY company that could come and see the place that same day I called him. We scheduled for him to come to our place at 5PM (to provide an estimate) and he was on time! He came in, was very friendly, and walked around to see what work we were looking to get painted, and left. Later that evening, he was the only one that sent me an email with a quoted estimate. I asked him for an estimate for labor only, and then with paint. He provided both estimates! After reviewing multiple quotes, I decided to go with Excellence Painting because I felt that Gerardo, from the beginning, was very professional, and responded in a timely fashion! I felt I could count on him and his crew! He was also very competitively priced!!! The next day, Gerardo stopped by the place, and helped me finalize paint colors based on what I was looking for. He told me he would start the next day, but had a project in the morning to complete, so he would come in the afternoon. He came later in the afternoon (around 6-ish), and he started the painting. Then he came the next day with his crew, and finished the majority of the place. He finished everything yesterday! The place looks beautiful, as I will add photos of his work. My husband and I are VERY HAPPY!!!! Biggest thing for me - Gerardo was ALWAYS responsive, we primarily spoke through email, but he would respond within 5-10 minutes! He was always very energetic and happy! Whenever he said he would do something, he did it! He was never late, he was very articulate and detailed! I would absolutely 1000% recommend him!!!! I got two estimates, one from Excellence who was extremely responsive and came out in couple of days to understand my goal and gave me quote within a day. I found Gerardo through Yelp. I just had bought a new house and I needed the whole interior to be painted. Also, my living/dining room area walls were a mess because the former owner applied texture paint. I spent a lot of time trying to get rid of it using paint stripper (which contains pretty toxic chemicals). Seems I did more harm than good ... Gerardo (Excellence Painting) came to the rescue. He came immediately, did a quick assessment, and suggested a budget for the painting and fixing the living/dining room area. The other contractors were really slow in responding to my call. I was amazed by Gerardo's ability and experience. Also, it was amazingly affordable, which was quite surprising. He gave me lots of advice on what paint to use. I learned (the hard way) that using standard paint is really bad for your health. Gerardo suggested a couple of more environmentally-friendly options. The painting job was really great, the house looks amazing! They put a lot of detail in the ceilings and were careful to move stuff around. He came in the same day to provide an estimate which was extremely competitive compared to others we've met with. Gerardo and his team were available the same week to get started. A project that others said would take 2-3 days was completed successfully by Gerardo in a day and a half. The quality was awesome. After spending countless hours, dollars, and trips to Home Depot trying to fix some damaged drywall in my bathroom ceiling without any success, I finally decided to call a professional. None of my friends could provide the name of a reliable contractor / painter, so I decided to turn to Yelp. I called two businesses on Yelp that service my area, one of which was Excellence Painting. Gerardo was able to come out the very same day to take a look at my bathroom and provide me with a reasonable estimate. He also arrived a few minutes early, a plus in my book. He suggested a professional grade paint which he was able to obtain for the job and offered an earlier date than I had expected to complete the job. He gave me an estimate on a Monday and came by Friday to work on the bathroom. He was able to fix my botched drywall job and paint the whole bathroom (a large master bathroom) in less than 3 hours. The paint he had suggested was great and had NO fumes. I know, hard to believe. There's no evidence of my handiwork and the bathroom looks as good as new. I emailed Gerardo - and got an email back from him that day. He came by the next morning to estimate the job. I had emailed a third place - and 5 days later, they emailed me back, saying they would call to set up an estimate time. That was another 3 days. By that time Gerardo had already given me an estimate and a day that he could do the job. I told the other guy he was only 8 days too late, and I'm glad I hired Gerardo. He's a really busy guy, so I had to chase him down for 24hrs, but totally reasonable. Pricing was in line with what I expected, and he told me exactly what paint and other supplies I needed to pick up and where to get it. JC Licht in West Loop even gave me his discount! We were up against a pretty tight timeline with getting floors refinished and moving furniture around most efficiently and Gerardo and team were super flexible and arrived on time each day. I'm super picky, going as far as individually marking each screw hole/imperfection that needed patching before his arrival. Gerardo and team did an excellent job, super clean lines at trim and ceilings, and did a great job cleaning up considering the freshly redone floors. Gerado did a great job at making my apartment look brand new again! I got extra confident painting my apartment all different colors, and when it was time to move out I didn't have the time or energy to paint the apartment all back to white. Gerado came in on Monday to give us a quote, and the job was done by Tuesday night. He painted 5 of my 6 rooms and the place looks great. He also patched a few holes from my mounted tvs and curtain rods, so that was a huge help as well. Gerado was kind, professional, and offered a reasonable price. I had called another place before the end of the year and when the person got back to me I was told they could not get to my job until beginning of February, so I found the good reviews for Excellence Painting and gave the company a call- I called the company and was told to email my information and something would be set up- Eduardo Vega came as confirmed via our email conversation to take a look at my studio and give me a quote- I had attempted to paint a couple walls with a semi gloss, so I had a mess on my hands once I decided I couldn't go through with doing a second coat, too glossy and showed every roller/paint brush mark applied to the wall! I was shocked when Mr. Vega provided me the quote within an hour and was able to actually start the next day! I moved into One Museum Park East (luxury building in the South loop) in March of 2009 and I needed a professional to paint our unit for an affordable price. I received three bids (two bids from businesses recommended on Yelp) and a third bid/referral from JC Licht of Chicago at 19 South Morgan. I wanted to use high-end paint from Benjamin Moore and the guys at JC licht were kind enough to recommend me to Excellence Painting (owner Gerardo Vega). After meeting Gerardo I realized that he was a very hard working individual and took the quality of his work very seriously. While his initial bid was slightly higher than one of the other two bids, we finally agreed on a fair price and he started working on the paint job the following week. He was even kind enough to assist me in picking out the appropriate colors and quality of paint. Gerardo finished on time and the quality of work was amazing. He made it a point explain how he worked, explain what parts of the walls and ceiling should and should not be painted and how we could cut costs. Had my 2 bed 1 bath complete apartment repainted from trim to ceiling. And all I can say is WOW! Other than being extremely affordable the recommended finishes were spot on for the look I was going for. Also the place was spotless and the crew made sure items were carefully moved or completely wrapped and protected in plastic. The lead in the crew was also very informative as well as stylishly creative. He had a few tweaks to color and accent walls in certain areas that I'm very pleased with. I have to admit, I know nothing about flipping a home. But, I decided it was a good investment and went for it. Gerardo has been a wonderful partner. His work is quality, and very reasonably priced. For me, he has done everything from remove layers of grime and paint to installing new hardwood floors at half the price as the quote from Home Depot. Most of all, he cares. Not trustworthy: Gerardo presented me with a contract that stated, "Excellence Painting is not liable for any damage of client's belongings and or property." I asked why I'd be responsible for them spilling paint on my sofa or stealing my TV. Gerardo said that I wouldn't be but refused to change the contract. He kept telling me that he has such wonderful Yelp reviews that I shouldn't worry. I think that if he wouldn't get behind the reviews himself, than the Yelp reviews aren't real.
