At 10 am today, I heard screeching noises from my Tesla Model 3 in a parking lot at my gym. While at the gym, I was searching for avenues for people to check my car. Excluservice was one of the few shops that actively advertise that they can handle Tesla. I knew there was going to be weeks waiting for the Tesla Service Center. So I tested my luck and contacted Excluservice via online chat. With minutes, I got a reply and they asked if I could come in at 11. I was 30 mins away so I cut my gym session short and headed out. Upon arrival, everyone was nice. There was refreshments and wifi. They took a look at my car and put it on the lift to check things thoroughly. I got to meet everyone and got a tour of the garage. This was a first for me to receive such service. Clean and organized garage and they have a secure parking lot for a variety of cars. After waiting a few more minutes, I was presented with this tiny rock that was lodged between my brakes and rotary. Apparently this is a common issue with Teslas. We laughed, they didn't want to accept payment, but I insisted since I did take up their time. I left at 11:34 am. I was pleased by the service here and the results. I honestly thought I had to replace my brakes by that screeching noise and my car at 91k mileage. But, I was fine. This place gained a loyal customer today. read more

I brought my Tesla in because the heat was not working, and my experience at Excluservice was extremely frustrating. The customer service representative was extremely friendly, and I had real hope this could be an alternative to going to Tesla. The only reason I did not go to Tesla first was the longer wait time to be seen. They charged me a 130 dollar diagnostic fee, yet they did not perform the most basic and widely known test for this issue which is checking the PTC heater. After paying for a diagnosis, I was told they needed additional diagnostics, but only if I paid another 495 dollars for a Tesla Toolbox subscription so they could run the tests that should have been included from the beginning. I am now going to Tesla where the repair is around 1k dollars to fix the actual problem. In comparison, Excluservice charged me to tell me nothing helpful and attempted to upsell me almost 500 dollars just to continue the work they implied the original diagnosis would cover. This pricing structure feels misleading and the lack of thoroughness was unacceptable. If you are a Tesla owner looking for clear communication and real diagnostics, I strongly recommend choosing another shop. My experience at Excluservice did not provide value or solutions despite the friendly customer service. read more

I read a few of the reviews and am surprised with some of the negative ones. It's been years since I had any of my BMW's services by this shop but I never had anything but positive servicing. I actually bought a a mint Euro-spec 745i turbo from them which was once owned by one of their GM's back in the early 90's. I also purchased an extraordinary 5 series from them as well. Both cars came with three piece BBS rims because at the time I believe this shop was a BBS distributor as well. I got so many compliments on these cars over the years and I trusted no one else to service them because I wanted the work to be done well. What a nightmare. We took the X5 in because the service light was on. We asked them to check it and tell us if anything needed maintenance. They kept it for 3 days and told us the glow plug was bad. So they replaced it for how much? $1099!! WTF... We didn't ask them to make repairs. We asked them to do the diagnostic. Shouldn't a mechanic call and ask for permission before going diving through your car's engine? Guess what - we get it back, and the service light was still on! So I calm down and call them for a detailed summary of what they did on the car and why they did it. And I get subjected to the most condescending phone call of my life. "How much do you know about engines? Cause it sounds like you don't know much, so I don't want to explain too much to you and confuse you." Yeah, I'm sure you could also tell from the sound of my voice that I build robots for the Navy. I told him, no problem, just go slow, I'm taking notes and I'll look up anything I don't understand. I asked him if they kept logs of the OBC (on-board computer) readouts. Nope. I told him I noticed that the info panel was telling me I needed the brake fluid replaced. He said, "Brake fluid? What are you talking about? What are brake fluids?" My mind is blown. Then I threw him a softball, I asked him why they decided to replace the glow plug. Anything along the lines of 1) the engine has a hard time starting, which it doesn't, 2) the glow plug light was on, which it wasn't, or 3) the check engine light was on, which it wasn't, would've satisfied my question. Instead I got this BS: "Why did we do it? How am I supposed to explain that to you? That's like asking why do anything?" Yes. Why do anything. Why take the time to review this mess. - - - - - So I take the car to another shop. They replaced the brake fluid. The service light is no longer on. read more

These guys are nice enough but if you take two minutes to look at your bill, it's pretty clear you're getting ripped off. They charged me $38.59 in labor to change the cabin filter, which took me 58 seconds and no tools to do it myself....that's over $2,300 per hour. Apparently they have brain surgeons back there working on cars. Add to that $270 for a battery that typically retails for $120 and $64 in labor to change the battery (four easily accessible bolts). I went to excluservice several times. They advertise themselves as offering dealership services at a much lower rate. I got a diagnostic test done with them and the charge was significantly more than what the dealership quoted me. They also charged an insane amount just for changing windshield wipers. I expressed frustration at this and they just responded defensively. Over a year later I decide to give this shop a chance again and make an appointment since they consistently send me coupons. After making the appointment, I get a call later from the owner saying that he cancelled my appointment because I had expressed dissatisfaction with their services in the past. I am in search of a new mechanic. I told Isaac exactly that. My mechanic of 18+ years tried to rip my daughter off... I had a failed emission test with a P0444 Purge Control Valve Circuit error. I did my research and arranged for BMW Excluservice to take a look at the car. I was charged a diagnostic, $140, which is not a problem... you would pay this anywhere unless your mechanic is part of the family. They diagnosed a gas cap leak. I talked to Tim, he explain why that was the case, BTW gas cap could be one of the issues, and certainly the easiest one to address. Cost of the gas cap at BMW Excluservice $38.00, 0_0, BMW of Rockville charges $28.00. Also my bill, which I have not seen just yet has shop supplies on it... Really???? I will come back to this review and update you. I wanted to write this even before picking up the car.... Will I be going back??? Will they be my next faithful mechanics??? Yeah right!!!! Very frustrated with this trade, but NEXT... Oh Honest Mechanic... where are thou????? UPDATE: Stephane, the manager adjusted the price to $28 for the gas cap after a conversation at pick up. They were no shop supply fees on the bill. Horrible Customer Service over the phone! Today (9/9/20), I called BMW Excluservice in Rockville, MD to get an estimate on replacing the front and rear brakes of my 2014 BMW X3 3.0, including brakes pads, rotors and sensors. They absolutely refused to provide any numbers over the phone...not even worst case scenario. They said they won't give any numbers without completing their own inspection because BMW dealerships lie about repairs that a car needs. I told him that it blows my mind that they won't give any pricing for a repair without seeing the car. There are numerous repair shops in the area and it's ridiculous to expect customers to drive to multiple locations to get an estimate...especially for brakes when its dangerous to drive around with bad breaks! read more

I called Excluservice on Monday because I am buying a car in Kensington and I live in Massachusetts and wanted them to do a Prepurchase inspection since the BMW In Rockville no longer provides this service. The young man I spoke with assured me this wouldn't be a problem and I would receive a detailed inspection with supporting photos. After confirming with the car owner, I call back later the same day to make the appointment for 9 am Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning just before 8am I get a call from Ben telling me that I cannot pay over the phone with my credit card because they have been burned in the past. Say what? They want me to come from Boston to pay? Just seems like bad business. Here I am trying to give you my hard earned cash and you are refusing payment. I offer PayPal, Apple Pay, VENMO, etc. They said it was a policy and I can talk to the owner when he gets there at 10 am. So I had to cancel my 9 am appointment. I ended up using BMW of Silver Spring. They were great. Got me in the same day (Tuesday morning) and did a comprehensive PPI. I guess I should have looked for other BMW dealers all along. Excluservice does look like they provide some quality services and a clean shop but I cannot comment objectively to this as they did not seem to want my business. read more

I got an estimate to have springs installed in my m4 and was quoted an astronomical $1,700+. Knowing that this is only a 2-3 hour job I called a handful of very reputable tuner shops in the area and received quotes from $475-600, including alignment. this tells me these guys either did not understand the job (it's pretty obvious and was very clearly articulated), they do not have any aftermarket expertise, or they offered a high price because they thought I was an unsophisticated consumer with money to burn. either way, I will not be going back. read more

I bought my 2010 650i about a year ago. I LOVE the car, the look and the feel. One day I took my car through a car wash and immediately after my electronics went CRAZY. Radio, Nav, blu tooth, satellite didn't work at all. After a day it all came back. I figured it had something to do with some kind of water leaking into the car so I took it to the dealership as it was still under warranty. They couldn't find anything wrong. Later in the year it rained and the same thing happened. Another trip to the dealership and they found nothing wrong. The spring came around and while I was visiting the dealership to ask a question it began to rain. Sure enough, the issue happened again. Guess what, the dealership couldn't find anything wrong. Each time though after a few days of drying out, the car operated normally. Two weeks ago, I got caught up in a rain storm and 10 minutes into it, my radio, Nav, etc went out again. THIS time I took it to Excluservice BMW because my wife has bought two cars from them and always has them service her cars. They were busy as heck. Isaac needlessly apologized, explaining that his co worker was on vacation. Isaac fielded call after call though still managed to listen to my long story and get my information documented. He assured me that the car will be taken care of. He also asked if I needed shuttle service though I didn't require that this time. Later in the day, he called me to say that the technician assigned to my car had to go to the doctor and would I mind if the car stayed overnight and apologized for the inconvenience. The next day he sent me an email with the details of what was found. Before I read the email, my phone rang and it was Isaac phoning me to explain the issues and what my options were and explained what needed to be fixed immediately and what can wait. I finally got back to Isaac later in the afternoon and he sent me a confirmation email to ensure we were on the same page. I ended up having plenty of needed maintenance performed and after the work was complete, they discovered another issue which would not have been known otherwise. Isaac again needlessly apologized but informed me that Excluservice BMW would absorb the cost of that repair and by the way, they fixed my leak issue!!!! YAY!! I'm expecting to pick my car up today near closing, but again Isaac phoned me and set my expectations to say that they will try, but if not tonight, the car will be ready first thing in the morning. Of course I don't have my car back yet, but I wanted to write this review to extol the customer service I had from Isaac. He's busy as heck, but the dude is a heck of a customer service representative. Oh yeah....I'll be back! My wife has been taking her car to Lothar for years and now Stephane is picking up where he left off. read more

Had my X5 in for service after 100K. They have serviced two of my cars and I have always been satisfied with their work. The quality of the service was just as good as always. Yes, they're expensive, but so is a new car. I plan to go another 100K with my X5 and will continue to use these guys. I was told about all of their recommendations clearly and in advance. I absolutely love this shop. Going to start off and say Isaac Diaz hands down has got to be the most transparent person I've met. He is up front and very honest about everything. None of that " yeah it'll be quick service" just to get you to stay. I came in last minute for an oil change he was able to squeeze me in. Doing my oil change they ran into a problem on my 2004 M3 where the previous shop/owner over torque the drain bolt he was honest about it told me they could fix it but not till the next day. Thing was I needed to be out of down and needed to take the M3 the shop foreman said he'd do his best to fix it for me and get me back on the road mind you this was all an hour before they were going to close. They were able to fix it and have be on my way in timely fashion the price was very affordable. The amount of appreciation I have for these guys and the shop is unmeasurable. This experience alone I know these guys care about each customer and take each job with seriousness. Honestly will not take my M3 anywhere anymore. read more

Short story: I took my 2002 745LI to this shop.... Airbag sensor came on so i had to see what the problem was... Car is in great shape for 90k miles... They called me and said it was just a loose sensor... Reset the sensor.... No - charge.... 97k miles and light has not come back on since. We all know what they could have done to me. They could have said anything... Sold me for work that may not have been needed etc. the mechanics are all veterans in the industry... All have worked for Dealers for years that would have handled this differently because the dealers mechanics have a different attitude with the car owner. I often talk with the mechanic that has worked on my car over the years to hear reasons a certain choice to proceed on a certain repair or not yet to repair an item. The hourly rate is 107.00 or 109.00 .. Somewhere between those two numbers.... Hourly rate at ROCKVILLE BMW (Old VOB) is over 170.00 Sure i have spend money from time to time but why would i ever take the car to a Dealer if i have this level service. New owner as of January 2013... It will be interesting to see if they keep the same culture. Stepfen (sp?), the past head service writer bought it from the old owner. He has always been a good guy from my past experience and the guy who handled the sensor story i mentioned happened a year ago with me. Five Stars is a no-brainer here but we will see going forward. By the way, i just dropped my car off this morning and they drove me back to my house to use a extra car i have to drive as they check out my car for another problem. Saved me from getting rental or having my wife pick me up and bring me home. Their off to a good start are my thoughts... Also i think that any shop with a painted floor that is always spotless runs a clean operation and is a good sign. The staff is very knowledgeable about all things BMW and have always quickly and accurately diagnosed any problem with my car -- luckily there have been very few repairs over the years. They host BMW car shows for charity and the head of the repair shop, Stefan, is extremely professional and responsive to any request or question. 4th shop I've been to in the last month, including my prior favorite neighborhood independent, another highly rated neighborhood independent, and the local dealership (BMW Rockville). The best balance of competence, thoroughness, honesty, and therefore overall value. First independent shop screwed up a simple repair and treated me rudely suggesting the screw up was my fault. Second shop couldn't diagnose the new problem created by the first shop. BMW Rockville diagnosed it correctly but suggested $9000 in "preventive maintenance" (half of which isn't needed yet) and also treated me disrespectfully (not acknowledging or apologizing for a 30 minute delay to see me for my "appointment," what a joke), also I've been there twice and never been able to obtain a loaner. Walked into Excluservice, treated fairly, respectfully, honestly, given a loaner car for 2 days, AND saved 50% on what I would have spent at the dealership (thousands of dollars).
