The Brazilian Grill, Hyannis…read more My wife and I ate at the Brazilian Grill in Hyannis for lunch today. Short version: The restaurant is inviting, comfortable, and well laid out. The staff is engaging and friendly - even after my trying out the little bit of Portuguese I know! And, the food is plentiful and delicious! The value is tremendous! We are looking forward to going back again (maybe in a couple of weeks ) !! As we walked into the restaurant, we could see what looked like a pastry counter (they make their own cakes, flan, etc.) to the left and the massive "salad bar" directly ahead through an interior window. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks and the took a spin around the salad bar. That salad bar has so much more than salad! It is one of, if not the best salad bars I have seen. Sure, there were Caesar and garden salads with the usual toppings, but also hot options like "lobster soup" (like a bisque), squash soup, several fish dishes (cod, shrimp, etc.), some type of fritter that was delicious, polenta, mashed potato, sweet potatoes, etc. The cold options included veggies, cheeses, breads, various fruit, cold cuts including Prosciutto di Parma & pineapple, tabouleh, sliced mozzarella, tomato, and cucumber, seafood salad (muscles, shrimp, calamari, etc., tossed with a some veggies), hummus, chicken salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, and a dozen other dishes I can't think of at the moment. (See the attached pictures). What I sampled from the salad bar (both hot and cold) was excellent. The gauchos waited for us to return to our table. Soon after, they arrived with skewers of meat (Rodizio) ready to carve for our plates. They carve as you grab hold of the slice with what are essentially oversized sugar tongs. They will carve as much as you like from as many different meats as you like. They visited us multiple times... We had baby prime, prime sirloin, flank steak, homemade sausage (chorizo and also not hot), NY Strip, Filet, chicken wrapped in bacon, and a few others. After a while, we turned our signal cards over to show red (indicating Chega!, or "no more!"). We had a wonderful, leisurely lunch. No pictures of the Rodizio - I was too busy putting slices of meat on my plate! A gentleman seated at a nearby table heard us oohing and ahhing about the salad bar and the carved meats. He suggested we try the chocolate cake for dessert. We all laughed because we really didn't have room for dessert. But we ordered it anyway, and also a flan (I happen to love flan)! The desserts were amazing! We ordered a second piece of chocolate cake to take home! Our waitress brought us a small box for the meat trimmings for our dogs (and taught us the Portuguese word for dog), a box for some leftover dessert, and another box with the extra piece of chocolate cake, along with the bill. Since people usually ask, the entire bill (2 Rodizio, 2 alcoholic drinks, a coke, 3 desserts, and a generous tip) came to $175 including tax. An excellent value so far as we are concerned. Now, my wife and I have a standard for comparing restaurant bills on Cape Cod. It's based on a restaurant on the lower cape that was recommended to us a few years ago by some folks in this group, as well as by a local nearby shop owner who said it was good for burgers. At that restaurant, we each had a burger & fries (mine was a cheese burger). I also had a rather limp and unsubstantial side salad. We each had an alcoholic drink, and I had a coke as well. It was good, meaning not great - just "meh" or "OK." We did not go back because that "burger and fries" lunch came to $110 (all in with an average tip) ~3 years ago. Definitely not worth it. And so, it is how we judge good food/value... Today's equivalent (leaving off the desserts, adjusting the tax and tip accordingly to match the "burger and fries" lunch) was $140 (all in for steak and a substantial salad bar). Paying a little more for what we consider unquestionably and substantially better food and service is well worth it! No question that the pattern we have seen on Cape Cod continues: really excellent food for ~$30+/- more than just "OK" or "meh" food of lesser quality and average service.

Great food. Great selection. Very consistent place. The buffet has a lot for vegetarians too.read more

Visited Churrascaria Tropeiro's Grill on Saturday night and we had an awesome dinner experience…read more Our party of four was seated promptly at our reservation time. The dining room is very attractive and nicely decorated, and the servers were polite, friendly, and attentive. Our drink orders were taken quickly, and the caipirinhas were both delicious. We made our first trip to the buffet and bar and there were so many choices! Hearts of palm, stuffed grape leaves, everything you could want for a salad bar, cheeses, hot sides, traditional Brazilian meat dishes, cheese rolls, fish, clam chowder and much, much more. While we were enjoying these items back at our table, we also turned our cards to green and strted experiencing the freshly sliced meats. Such a variety of beef cuts, lamb, chicken, sausage, and more. It was all super high quality, very tender, well seasoned, and I honestly don't know which were my favorites. Meat service was frequent - we were never without food and really never had to wait. They just kept coming and coming, and we kept trying more succulent meats. We finished our meal with the most delicious grilled pineapple and also the cheese with honey. Yum! Although there is a lovely dessert menu, we were too full to partake, and the pineapple and cheese hit the spot. The price for the unlimited buffet and meats is just under $50 per person, which at first seems a bit pricey, but when you look at all of the options and the quality of both the buffet and the meats, it is really a great deal! this is the third Brazilian restaurant I've been to, having been to one in Providence and one in Ogunquit, and Churrascaria Tropeiro's Grill is by far the best out of the three. I will definitely be back!

On Mother's Day weekend, selections were full and a great variety with plenty of swaps and refill. Very packed and a line leading outside. This is the most people I've seen ever inside. There's 8 rows of hot lamps and food with a back section of fresh, pick your own ingredients, lo mein hibachi grill that is cooked right in front of you. Don't forget to tip the cook! They have sauces to pick including spicy, hibachi sauce, soy sauce, garlic sauce and teriyaki. I think, especially on packed days, staff should be more on top of their dishes and watchful that parents check-in on their kids since some items were mixing. Also wanted more replacement of spoons and pinches since they had residue of food mixing old foods and new dishes of food~ Overall a standard place with good flavors. Staff should be a tad more mindful but this place is constantly moving and good spot for a casual dinner

There is also a hibachi section where you can choose the meats, vegetables, and rice and noodles. Your selections are put on the grill and you get a choice of what sauce you would like. Unfortunately, we ran out of appetite before we could taste everything at the buffet The only thing we tried that was not good was the peel and eat shrimp The desserts were the usual scen at Chinese buffets. The exception was that there was a large cabinet with scoop yourself ice cream. The service was wonderful. All the used dishes were removed promptly. The price for the buffet was extremely reasonable. We will definitely return.

There was a lady putting together puzzles on one of the back tables. There was a simple typical diner menu up on the wall. The man who owned the place came up to us and said they'd stopped serving breakfast but they had a buffet available for $9.99/plate and walked us over to the place and showed us what the options were. It was a terrific arrangement of things. There are daily specials. Sunday's specials were chicken lasagna [delicious and cheesy] and a pork and bean entree with rice and another one that I can't remember (they will give you a menu to take home). There were also standard rice and beans and a few other meat dishes all of which were different and tasty. You could also make yourself a salad but I suspect the place would not be very satisfying for vegetarians. There is a cooler full of local and esoteric sodas including pineapple and regular and diet guarana sodas. We filled up a few platefuls of food while we were there and ate and talked to the friendly owner about why he did or did not stock certain brands of soda and what he suggested for dessert. We were full so we went with a few containers of take home rice pudding which were sweet and cinnamon-y and amazing. I'm not even entirely sure what I ate at this place, but I really enjoyed the variety of foods, the neat decor and the friendly atmosphere. It's across from a storefront library and otherwise not the sort of place you might think you'd find food this good.

Not a big menu at all... pretty basic breakfast options. But definitely a good value (got 2 pancakes, eggs, ham w/ cheese, bacon, homefries and coffee for around $6!). Food is definitely fresh: looks like they were prepping the buffet food during the breakfast hours. Nice lunch setup (all you can eat for $9). Again, limited variety for lunch, but they change up their specials everyday.
