Shady business. Total greedy people. Be careful, they will try to sneak in charges and rip you off. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My car, after I met with an accident, was towed to this place against my preference coz it was 30 miles away. They were called by CHP and the tow truck driver said this is the only location that was open, and I was left with no choice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .. the surprise came when I saw the invoice they sent. A whopping $2500 just for towing just 30 miles .. nowhere in LA I have heard this much charge .. and their storage fee is another insane $250/day ... never heard of such rates .. it doesn't stop there .. they added dolly fee, clean up fee, after hour access, handling fee etc which altogether bumped up another $1000 on top of towing and storage fee .. my insurance said the rates are higher than normal prevailing rates for the area and so they would only cover part of it .. I ended up paying $2500 from my pocket to these greedy people .. I am considering reporting them to BBB .. if you don't want to be ripped off, please do yourself a favor and take your car elsewhere. read more

Plus, for something quick, I'd have to make a whole day of it, and possibly leave my Jeep there, then Uber home. I took my Jeep to Exclusive Motors and had it back in two hours. 2. The price was half of what Pep Boys quoted me. Less than half because George gave me an additional discount. 3. They are honest. They keep their word and give good advice. I wish I could leave zero stars. About a month and a half ago my parked car was totaled in the middle of the night along with my neighbor's car that was parked behind me. The insurance company sent a tow truck for my neighbor and the driver randomly gave me a business card to this place. They asked if they could move my car forward to get to his and I said sure. He called another tow truck and after checking with my neighbor on where the insurance company wanted the vehicles to go I asked him to take mine to the same place that my neighbor's was going to. The new tow truck driver had me fill out my info and told me to meet me at the place we had agreed on. However, while he was telling me to go to the place we agreed on he filled out the address to this place instead on the paperwork. I went to the mechanic it was supposed to go to and got a text "I just dropped off your car". Great. When the mechanic realised it wasn't there he called him back and the guy that said he'd dropped it off told him- he wasn't a tow truck driver. After further calls, the mechanic told me that the guy had taken my car to this place- Exclusive Motors. And that my car wouldn't be released unless I paid them $1400. And this is where I first learned about Tow Truck Pirates or Tow Truck Bandits, as the cops call them. Pretty cool names, admittedly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called Exclusive Motors and asked how in the world my car ended up here he started yelling at me "YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL YOUR CAR ENDED UP HERE INSTEAD OF WHERE YOU WERE GOING TO TAKE IT! YOU ARE LUCKY IT'S HERE..." and on and on and on. I couldn't even speak because he was shouting over anything I was trying to say.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got home and my boyfriend tried calling and had the same experience. Basically, in a nutshell, the scam is that the tow truck driver takes your car to mechanics like this one and they all get kick-backs for it when they basically hold your car for ransom. And when my boyfriend went to talk to him the next day about it he told him "hey bro, we all get kickbacks for doing this and its your girlfriends fault for being in a not-so-good situation". I can't comment on the quality of actual work they do here, but as far as merit, accountability and trustworthiness I'm not interested in supporting a business that is run this way. read more

I have a 1978 Honda that kept leaking coolant inside and out and I went to 2 different mechanic shops and they either didn't want to find the root of the problem or did a half ass job that left the car leaking. George and his team found the problem right away and fixed with no issues after. Usually mechanic shops try to overcharge you especially if your a woman and don't know much about cars, but George is honest, trustworthy and upfront about everything! the job the these mechanics do is superb! I had been hearing a a gradual increase in a rattling noise emanating from the bottom of my front brakes all the way to my steering wheel. As the weeks went the noise got louder. I was repeatedly told it was all in my head from my BF and others so I went to a trusted and EXCELLENT automotive technician who was kind enough to give me a second opinion since my first visit to a new referral took me around the block, had his mechanic simply open the hood and state it was my motor and tranny mounting assembly. WITHOUT even lifting it. My friend also took it around the block gave me his diagnostic opinion after his test drive: WHEELBEARINGS!! He is contractually restricted to only a certain foreign automaker contract of exclusivity so I gad to search for another honest mechanic who could replace him. I thought about my predicament: I live up a canyon. Not good. Another friend recommended me to George and his shop. He had his mechanic lift it and confirm the problem. Sure enough it was a left wheel bearing and NOT a costly mounting replacement. George and his long haired mechanic were very transparent and accommodating to my busy schedule and gave me a GREAT DEAL but what really makes me smile is How the car is RUNNING! It seems odd to me that the reviews of this place all have 5 stars. I've been here when it was the old owner, and with George. This place isn't reliable at all. I've been back to pick up my car only to realize they haven't fixed the problem. Or the paint doesn't match. Or they accidentally broke my door. Or they caused a new problem. It's been about a year since George broke the side panel on my car door during a repair and has yet to find a replacement for it. It just wasn't a priority for him, and now I've left LA. If you believe the other reviews, be sure to do a thorough inspection when you pick up your car. The mechanics are sloppy, and George doesn't check their work. If he has you come at night, take the car somewhere with light and check the paint first. Mine was so obviously mismatched, and this business was eager to try and still charge me. It seems to me that today almost everyone is out to get as much from everyone as they possibly can by whatever means possible. It's rather sad but it starts at the top and works it's way right to the bottom. There are probably some dubious practices going on in some places, and some have personally / probably never ripped anyone off. But a person can very rarely find an honest mechanic. I had an honest one long ago, but he changed occupations because he wasn't making lots of money for being honest. The damage assessed at this business was that my Saab had a coolant leak. I was told that my vehicle needed a (remove/replace) cooling thermostat housing; (remove/replace) heater hoses (2); with an [estimated] total amount of $574.67 (including labor) was needed to make necessary repairs. I'm not going to critique this business as they made no repairs. However, when I asked if they had knowledge of a service garage who specializes in Saab repair, they couldn't. Just so you know ... there is a garage that specializes in Saab's, located about 250 steps (west) from Exclusive Motors. A $574.67 cost took 45 minutes to replace a rubber "o-Ring" inside one of the (2) leaking hoses and was repaired for $30 at the neighboring business... read more

I came in to have my tires installed. I purchased them on Amazon and they offered Exclusive Motors as a service installation option, which is how I found out about the shop. George said that I could have my tires shipped there (which was a huge help so I didn't have to stuff four tires in my Civic!). I had wanted to get an alignment as well because I thought that is what you were supposed to do when you get new tires. George was honest and told me that if my car is driving straight, then there is no need for that because you don't want to mess with the alignment (the other two places I called didn't tell me that). While installing the tires, they noticed that my fuel tank was leaking. I had been smelling gas for a few months on and off, so I didn't think about it until he mentioned the leak. I had my car inspected a month and a half ago by my Honda Service Center and they checked my entire car including the fuel tank and said there were no issues. George told me that he thinks the part may be under warranty and that is why Honda doesn't want to fix it - because they don't make any money. George walked me over to my car and showed me exactly what the issue was explaining everything in detail. I was surprised by such honesty from a car service center! read more

I brought my BMW here for a quote regarding an accident that recently happened. A woman had side swiped my car and there was minor damage to primarily my rear bumper and the right rear side of the car. Before bringing my car to Exclusive Motors, I was quoted for over $1900 to repair everything. When I brought it to George, the cost was $0. The damage to my car was so minor, repainting one entire side of the car would have probably brought the entire value of my car down and desirability as the paint job of the car would be uneven. George was kind enough to provide his own insight and help me think through what the best thing I could do was according to my aims. George proceeded to fix a side skirt that was hanging off my BMW, polished most of the scraped paint off, and helped me detail scratches all over my car free of charge. George is real. George is genuine. George is the man. He could have tried to take advantage of my situation and assessed my car for an unnecessary paint job, but he didn't. I'm writing this review on behalf of my girlfriend. She drives an early model Audi TT that has seen a lot of miles. And I don't care what people say, German engineering isn't all it's cracked up to be. Whenever she goes into a mechanic's shop by herself, she knows she's at the mercy of mechanics who can get away with overcharging her for things she doesn't need. I can't tell you how many times one repair was never enough and how they would recommend she should come back in. Yet the problems always seem to compound on each other as if they were sabotaging the car. It was astounding how different repair shops diagnosed different problems in the same car with insane prices. Sometimes I could go with her and the mechanic wouldn't risk outing himself as a crook in the possibility I know a little bit about cars, but I can't be there all the time. I'm so glad she tried out Exclusive Motors and finally got treated fairly as a customer should. He actually did the diagnostic right in front of her, and then brought up a computer image of the engine and to show her what the problem was, and more importantly how everything else in the car was fine. He simply replaced the air mass meter sensor and the car was fixed. He also detected by hearing alone that she needed more oil. He repaired it quickly and the car now has a new life to it. It's running smoothly for the first time in a while and there hasn't been a problem since. I just think it's amazing he also told her why and how the other shops were trying to rip her off. The best part of all of this is she now has peace of mind whenever she needs a repair. She doesn't have to stress about dealing with crooked mechanics and worry about the cost. I was ecstatic to hear how satisfied she was. I agree with all the other reviewers here that this business does not take advantage of the customer. Distraught, she told me about the damage, offered to pay for repairs and suggested Exclusive Motors, which I pass by virtually every day. George, the owner, was very frank with me and advised that a proper paint job was unnecessary and that he would touch up the paint for free. Usually my dealership will charge $120 for this service unless you can commit to hundreds of dollars of repairs. George explained everything in detail and printed out the report so I knew exactly what was going on. Usually with other shops, I have been in the dark and taken advantage of. I had a really bad experience here. I came in to do a brake job on my car. He tried to charge me way too much for the job. I bought the parts and he still over charged me for the labor. On top of that he did a horrible job. He didn't check the calipers, which is important. If they are bad it ruins the brakes and routers fast. Of course shady people like that don't care because that means you need them again sooner then you should be needing them. I filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive. All the time and paperwork needed is annoying. I'm losing out on work just to deal with it. It's not even worth fighting. People need to boycott this place if that's how they treat their customers. read more

I really hate giving a bad review to such a friendly guy but I think my story should be heard. The transmission on my 04 Mercedes ML350 crapped out on me and would not shift out of 1st gear. My car was on the tow truck and I told the driver to take me to the dealership for the fix. I was informed by a different independent repair shop that some electronics needed to be reset in order to run a diagnostic and that only a dealership could do the job......WRONG! The driver suggested that I skip the dealership and try Exclusive Motors seeing he sent some people who liked the work. I called to confirm they could do the work and we were on our way. After filling out the paperwork and waiting for about an hour the owner George told me they were done and walked me out to the car to review the findings. He showed me all the stuff they looked at and told me that a computer inside my transmission needed to be replaced and that it would cost me $4K. I told him that I'd rather just sell the car for parts than pay that much. He was nice and I paid $100 for the diagnostic and left with my car. I decided to try the other shop that the tow truck driver initially suggested the following Monday when they were open. Initially I was a bit turned off on the owner there seeing how eager he was to sympathize with my situation. Either way I said this is my last shot and waited for his diagnostic. He came back and said that a chip needs to be replaced in my transmission and that it would cost $800. I asked why did I receive two completely different quotes. He told me that I would have to get the suggested $4K fix if I owned a 06 or newer model and that my transmission does not have a computer inside of it. I was livid to say the least. As nice as George and his waiting room is, his shop is either incompetent or immoral. Either way, there is no way I would ever come back. read more

George is great. I called and asked the price for getting my spark plugs replaced. He quoted me $100 and honored that price when I came in. Of course when they did an inspection they found a few other things I needed to get work done on which they notified me of which was going to cost me hundreds of dollars.
