She gave me her number and even made sure I was comfortable with the contract etc. She answered all my questions and seemed very lovely. So I hired her to plan my "covid" wedding. Which was a quick replan after I had to cancel all the hard work I had done in the past year. I now had to pull this together in 3 months. Originally I was just going to DIY because I had the time and drive to do so. But she assured me it would be amazing and she was dedicated to making this wedding happen. She told me that she needed all the money upfront to gather the supplies. Normally I would not agree to this, but she had glowing thumbtack reviews and up to this point I felt she was honest and sincere. However, after I paid her I NEVER saw designs. The only reason I received a quick *hand-drawn* design at any point over the three months was because I told her how upset I was that she kept ignoring my texts and ignoring me asking for her design plans. I told her I wanted my money back and she quickly changed her tune and was very text responsive. She assured me as she had every other time that she would get me the designs "very soon". I repeatedly would very kindly text her and ask for the designs. 2 Months past and my wedding was less than a month away and I still had nothing to show for it. She assured me she was on top of it and was just waiting for the last of the materials (none of which I ever saw) and then would ghost me again for a while. You can imagine how much stress this put on me as a bride. To be honest the only reason I was so stressed the final week before my wedding and could barely enjoy it was because of my "wedding decorator/ planner" Cut to the 11 days or so before my wedding when I got upset (rightfully so) again. I told her we needed to have a call and talk about the wedding. We booked a call. She cancelled the call. Then said she would just drive here because then she could see the space and assured us she'd be here that weekend. Never heard back about when. The next week rolls in and I text her 3 times or so being ghosted. Finally she got back to me and said she was planning to come, but wasn't feeling well. ( but apparently no one could let us know that) She said she was in the hospital, but told me not to freak out yet (11 days til my wedding) and then 1-2 days later texted me back after me sending another ghosted reply and told me she had covid and couldn't do the wedding, but she would refund me. I was very sympathetic and obviously wanted her not to be worried about us (though I was freaking out) and leading up to her being diagnosed had even offered to set the backyard decor up myself. I kindly asked her if she could have her husband drop off the decorations she had purchased with MY MONEY! But she ignored that and then as stated told me she had covid and would refund me. Which to me seems fishy that I never got my decorations. So cut to now, almost two weeks AFTER my wedding, still no refund. 4 texts later and still being ghosted. I feel there is no excuse for this and it was not a small sum of money. At this point my husband and I are going to have to consider legal action. Brides, do yourself a favor and avoid even considering using this company.

I'm great when it comes to ideas but horrible at execution. I LOVE looking at Etsy and Pinterest but I don't have that understanding of how many of these banners do I need? Do I need these cake toppers? Who the hell makes cupcakes? Am I a bad MOM?! ... Solution: Melange Event Planners... I met the ladies who run Melange Event Planners some years ago while I was living in Medford, MA, and have had the pleasure of attending a number of events executed by them. Melange Event Planners, in conspiracy with my best friend and my husband, planned and executed a surprise "High Tea" themed baby shower for me last year. Thereafter, I attended another baby shower and a one year old's birthday party that they had also planned. The feedback from friends and Melange's execution leads me to reach out to them for all of my current and future party planning needs. They listen. They take the time to understand budgetary constraints, constraints of the venue, and are sensitive to specific dietary and other needs. Furthermore, they take the time to get to know whom they are planning the party for and what those persons would appreciate or want. They are happy to discuss ideas and nothing is considered crazy. They know how many banners, balloons, cupcakes are required. Furthermore, they'll help create the invitations/ the theme and provide you with all that is needed to make you look like (well in my case) "The Greatest MOM/WIFE/FRIEND ever!" The parties they create are definitely elegant. They're very good at settling on a color scheme and making things as elaborate or simple as desired. They are happy to give you a realistic idea of what you can do and for what budget. Finally, they're the nicest people and easy to work with.
