Exotic Plants is located on Fulton Blvd, just South of Arden Way. It's much larger than it looks at a glance from the outside. They've been in business since 1972 (having relocated several times) and "offer premium indoor plants, decor, and services, including expert interior scaping" according to their website. The staff are friendly and their tropical plants are beautiful! It's a great place to shop for Monsteras and such. They had a nice variety of pots on our most recent visit. Plus, they offer workshops and events like "Fall Moss Art Workshop" and "Holiday Wreath Workshop". Prices are reasonable for the high quality items available for sale. read more

We love a good plant shop, and this place was great with a specialty in bonsai. I purchased a bonsai as a gift for my husband. Although the staff weren't that helpful (I guess the owner is the real expert), he was friendly enough. There's a space in the back for creating plant art, and everything looks lush and taken care of. There's also a big tent in front that looks like it can hold larger events. it's a very unique place for the area! read more

It's always difficult to walk out of this store without too many new plants! The selection is great and the staff are always welcoming and knowledgeable. The variety and health of their plants is exceptional and they're always willing to share their expertise. They even repotted a couple of plants I bought there years ago when I didn't know how. There's a considerable variety of hoyas here in particular. Oh and hello there humungo monstera Thai constellation and monstera albo (which individually may or may not cost an arm and a leg). Even from a window-shopping perspective this nursery gives off small-space botanical garden vibes. Compared to big-box counterparts, this nursery is more of the quality-over-quantity type. Each houseplant really does look like it's receiving a good amount of care and I wouldn't be surprised if serious houseplant collectors in the area drop by here regularly to see what's in store at the given time. If you want to expand your houseplant collection with special additions or just want to stroll around in an orderly jungle (oxymoron kinda?) of happy houseplants then this place is worth a peek! read more

After driving past this place forever, we finally stopped in for the holiday craft fair and terrarium making class. This place was amazing, such beautiful plants ranging from affordable, small ones to expensive huge well established ones. Nice array of indoor and outdoor pots. Beautiful moss art. I love this place. As soon as I went in, someone greeted me and asked if there was anything I was looking for in particular. I said I was looking for air plants. The air plants were near the register. They didn't have many to choose from, but I enjoyed looking at them, especially the gigantic one that was about the size of 1 gallon water jug. I only visited for a short time, yet I was inspired. I love their wall art of living plants in the back room. It's like stepping into an art gallery. One thing I'm going to try to mimic is their propagation wall. Shortly before this visit, I started to propagate my prayer plant. Two days after placing stems in water, I noticed roots beginning to grow out of them. I was super happy. When I saw Exotic Plants' propagation wall, I was excited. I was in Sacramento about 3 weeks ago for work and saw this exotic shop and what drew me in were the Yelp Reviews and the artwork on the exterior of the building. I was so excited that I had to show my best friends over FaceTime. One lives in Davis and the other in Fresno so I took screenshots of some of the plants that caught my eye on the FaceTime. I bought one for my friends and myself. It was so full of gorgeous plants but felt very well organized. It was also aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The staff was super nice and helpful. I wanted something that best fit the needs for my friend Victoria who loves having to baby her plants and water them as much as possible. I on the other hand needed a plant that loves to be neglected. I ended up getting her and I a Goldfish plant which could handle being babied or neglected a little. I also got myself and adenium desert rose which really needs to be left a bit more to its own devices and thrive from being neglecting a bit. The staff really was willing to have that conversation to help guide me buy the plants. Unlike when you go to Home Depot or something where the staff probably only has minimal knowledge of the plants they're caring for, usually improperly. The staff here definitely knew what they were talking about. I want to go again when I'm in the area again. read more

But now that I have been there a couple of times, I have discovered that there was absolutely nothing to be intimidated about! The staff are super friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The plants are in great condition. There are some unique pots scattered throughout the store. You can buy individual substrate components to make your own blend, which I love. They even sell crystals and gorgeous ready-made terrariums that would make great gifts. I cannot say enough about this place. They used to be located near World Market and recently moved to a bigger location on Fulton Ave. The second you walk in you are welcomed with a friendly attendant and a beautiful aura of nothing but happy and healthy plants that are inviting themselves to go home with you to live. I spent a good 30 minutes just walking around the inside. There is an outside are which at the time housed mostly the succulents and at the time Christmas items. I came in on a rainy day and was greeted by Andrew whom was super sweet and very knowledgeable. I walked away purchasing a cebu blue pothos which will be a perfect addition to my already large collection of plants. I look forward to returning to EP and purchasing my next plant. read more

I was here for Yelp Elite event a couple weeks ago and while there, one of the staff members let me know they were having a similar event today (Sept 28th) so I invited my sister to join me. It was her 47th anniversary There was food and music, tutorials and of course. . .beautiful plants. I came across one of the prettiest flowers I've ever seen, a bromiliad/bromeliad. I had to get it. I also bought a croton since there was a BOGO sale. I love them both. I don't have a green thumb but I love plants. I've always been afraid to buy plants out of fear of killing them. .until I came here. The Kifumi and the staff were provided so much information on how to care for each plant and let me know that if I ever had any questions or concerns, I could call them for help. It's like walking into a hidden tropical paradise right in Sacramento! There are so many varieties of plants and I could spend way too much time here. My BF and I were in the area shopping and enjoying my day off when he pointed over at this little plant shop nestled in a strip mall that I would have never noticed until now. He had been here before and reminisced on how as a kid, his parents would often bring him to this shopping center and buy clothes at the "Tower of Clothes" and shoes from the "Tower of Shoes". Apparently, the "Exotic Plant" store was also here for 47 years! Although the young man at the shop didn't remember the Tower stores at all! LOL! Now, where was I? Oh yes, back to the present! When we entered this place, my interest in all things botanical ignited immediately! We entered a miniature rain forest, jungle and garden all in one. I had to inspect each plant and flower on display. Every specimen was healthy, beautiful, and unique! I'll admit I'm far from having a green thumb, but couldn't resist the strong impulses on trying to dye my thumbs green if necessary! After exploring the shop in length and finding out that they were having a 20% discount on all plants and pots, we had strong incentive to make several purchases. The young man we spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable, as we asked for advice on how to care for our plants. I can only hope we will be good parents to the newest members of our ever evolving back yard! The prices are decent for these exotic and unique plants and if you are looking for something special that you can't find anywhere else, this is the place to go. Otherwise it's a pretty good shop, most everything looks well cater for. The orchid display has been neglected, I almost got a zygo but there was no price and it was D R Y with 2/3 inflorescences dead so I passed on that. And the only healthy paph was not one with mottled leaves and when I spend that much on an orchid, it's gonna be one I want not just the healthiest one they had, ykwim? They had several with mottled leaves and spent inflorescences. They had a really broad selection, I saw several begonias and alocasias, calatheas to cacti, divas to set-it&forget-it types. They had some mid quality pottery but I didn't look at the prices because meh. I got an adorable little AV mini that I'm sure will be adorable once it's cleaned up a bit. I had never heard of Exotic Plants before attending a swig and dig event there. I will say the shop is beautiful and almost feels junglish since they have many trees there not just plants. They have some pretty cool moss art around the store worth checking out. The swig and dig was a blast I learned a lot and the staff was super friendly I would highly recommend that event. This store has a ton of plants for sale if you need that perfect gift. The prices are a bit more expensive but you know the history of the plant, know it has been well lived, and they will teach you how to care for it and give you follow up advise when you need it..that is worth the few dollars more. As new plant parents we went by to check out the selection and were so surprised by the rare plants we found! There was a sign on the door that said 20% off the whole store so we got excited. It was pretty large with a selection of everything from 2" plants to trees over 7 feet tall. We migrated to the indoor house plant and found all sorts of alocasias, ferns, snake plants, oyster plants and cacti. The price point was a pretty good deal for the size of the plants. A large African mask alocacia with about 18 growing leaves was only $20! The 2" plants came out to $3. My husband is a bonsai lover and they had a great selection of small bonsai, he left with an African boxwood for only $7! The girl working was so helpful, gave us lots of great tips on care for the plants. They are moving to another location next year and we can't wait to check it out! read more

The staff at Exotic Plants were so helpful when my 84 year old mom was trying to find a gift for her friend who cannot garden anymore. We thought a terrarium might be a good gift so she could have plants inside her house now. I had suggested some unusual plants like a butter wort that have lovely flowers similar to an African violet. The staff at Exotic Plants were so kind and customized a beautiful cylindrical glass bowl with different types of bog plants that would complement the butter wort. We were so pleased. Oh my God, I get so many compliments on the two matching plants, with the matching planters, that I got here last month. I knew I liked having plants in the house, but I was really surprised at how many other people noticed them and have remarked on them. Sure Sure, you can get your plants at cheaper places like Walmart and Target, but the selection will be limited, and nobody is there to help you figure out what is actually going to grow in your home. Not only did we find the ficus we were looking for (7') but also a beautiful large, blue ceramic pot. And then there was this beautiful triple ficus in a beautiful ....... well, you know the rest, plus 3 other small plants and 3 nice looking, well-priced pots.
