I was looking for a company to remodel my garage. Benjamin (Ben) came to my home to do a estimate. Everything was OK until the work started. They did overall a decent job. However they took my expensive stone sink they claim it was linking but it wasn't. And replaced it with a plastic sink. I had to tell them how to do the epoxy on my garage floor. Just a bad experience and the workers was upset with Benjamin telling me they don't get paid enough and he does nothing and keep all the money etc. The worker came to my house with his wife and kid to complete work that wasn't professional at all. I don't recommend this company at all.. Over charge. Slave workers with minimum pay. It was a 20,000 project that turn out to be almost 60,000 very disappointed. read more

I'm not one to leave Yelp reviews, when I do it is for a good reason. We scheduled a date and time to have Expert Home Builders come to our home to go over what we want to our backyard as well as see what we can afford to do. My wife owns a dog boarding/daycare business from our home and we want to make most of the backyard for them. We have a sign by the door that asks guests to kindly not ring the doorbell or knock on the front door as it disturbs the dogs and makes them go crazy, we ask that they text or call us so we can come out. Immediately when the two guys arrived, they knocked and rang the doorbell. I guided them to our backyard and explained the ideas we were trying to go for. I even explained that some of my ideas I have is things I want to do later down the road as I am on a tight budget. They immediately started blowing things out of proportion and coming up with other ideas that I didn't even bring up nor wanted to even consider doing. Instead of just focusing on the landscape design they said I should blow out a window and make it a sliding glass door, then went into saying I should repaint my whole house. On top of all that saying for the modern design we wanted to also stucco our wall/fence. At that point all I'm seeing is dollar signs. I even stated to them, I want to focus on just the landscape. They ignored and kept wanting only their ideas considered. My wife came out and met them and gave her input but ignoring her and the fact we have a budget. They were friendly but very forward and pushy. When we came into the house, they saw how busy and chaotic it was with all the dogs and yet kept insisting to want to show us his "vision". Couldn't just email it or talk over the phone. Somehow, they kept diverting the conversation to other things besides our backyard and what they can quote us for. My wife kept telling them we needed to tend to the dogs. I was literally going in and out of the room to keep trying to watch and clean up after the dogs. My wife was also hungry and kept telling them she wanted to eat and she even was having a dog client come to drop off their dog. They continued to ignore and just was doing everything they could to try and stay and convince us that we need to work with them for this project. Finally they revealed to us the price which for some reason included to repaint the house. We stated again we don't want to do that and just focus on the landscape to make it suitable for the dog business as that is our main concern. They then somehow just come up with a random basic design on paper and gave us a new estimate for the landscape which was still a whopping 70-80K! Mind you, we have had at least 5 other companies come to our property to quote our backyard and none of them were even close to that amount. The most we had was $30-40K and the other designs from the other companies provided more. We stated to them that we can't afford that and it's way over our budget, they kept at it with their salesman strategy by saying its an investment and that it is simple monthly payments. Finally we were able to have them leave our property literally 2-3 hours later after they first showed up, but only leaving because apparently they had another appointment. It was supposed to be a 45 min max session. They returned to our property 2-3 hours later.. I went outside and told them we can't afford what they presented and stated again I don't want to waste their time nor anymore of mine. Again they insisted they can give us somehow now a better deal they just wanted to take "measurements".. Not sure why they didn't do so originally. We went to the backyard, and he didn't even take measurements. He was literally just taking fake videos on his phone of the backyard. I immediately stated again as friendly as I could that we can't afford what they quoted and that we have had better quotes. They then questioned the quality of the other companies. I stated that all the other quotes were around the same except theirs was double for less work. They even now became very rude, stating to me "you want quality but don't want to pay for it" who says that? Randomly one of them walked away and was on the phone with someone. He then came back stating that one of their projects was not able to happen right away so they have artificial turf they can use for our property and reduce the price. These guys literally wouldn't stop.. They even said in order to get a solid quote they are going to need me to fill out some forms to see if I can qualify. I wasn't going to sign anything or have them run my credit without a proper quote. I got them out of my backyard but still refused to take no for an answer. My wife ended up coming outside because one of our dog clients were coming to pick up their dog. The client even asked them if their was a problem with leaving. Finally, they left. I just couldn't believe how pushy/rude they became and how they refused to leave. I just wanted to share this with anyone. read more

Jacob was so organized - much more than what we expected from a typical contractor. He was always prepared for the meeting and knew the details of what we needed to cover; billing was clear and openly discussed; we had a printed calendar with the job stages on it. Of course, mistakes are bound to happen during a large, 4- month job - and Jacob handled them with poise. He was honest and fair and clearly explained options for solutions. As important were the team , who were on-time, pleasant, the perfect amount of chatty, and completed work with the highest quality I could have imagined. He told me they are very busy and that he was squeezing me in because they had a job in the area. I didn't see Joseph again after I signed the contract. They send other people to collect checks. They only take your checks and work for their own commission. Please don't trust them. They do not know anything. The team they hired installed artificial turf and I was never was told about my windows being an issue and damaging the grass. I realized after the fact. I live in the SF bay area (Fremont), where everything is expensive and supply chains are all backed up for days, so finding a contractor that is available, and reasonably priced, and can find materials, is almost an impossible task. So off I went and found 3 bids for my project. The Expert Home Builders Inc came in at the best price, and I was not disappointed with the professional service I got from working with Gabriel Brinkman the Project Manager on my projects. I had a deck repair, and a basement mother-in-law unit repair project. As an older woman, I am often taken advantage of by fast talking salesman (and badly behaved tenants). It's like there is a target on my forehead that says rip me off please... This was not the experience I had with Gabriel. I needed to get my 30-year-old deck repaired which is no easy task. It's on a steep hill and a bit tricky to get to, but Gabriel's team was all over it, they were professional, and did an outstanding job in a difficult situation. By working with me on keeping costs under control, the project was finished on time, and on budget. The apartment rental was a complete disaster after my tenants totally took advantage of me during the covid shut down. No rent for over a year, and they trashed the place, and there was nothing I could do about it (I am sure I am not the only one with this story) So after a year of cooling off, and replacing my rather stretched resources, Gabriel's team came in and fixed everything. New paint, flooring, replaced doors etc. His team made it better than before. So, with my faith in humanity restored, I would highly recommend Gabriel and his team. read more

Expert Home Builders completely renovated my 1250 square foot home: 1) Completely gutted and rebuilt 2 bathrooms. 2) Painted the house inside and out. 3) Completely replaced the entire electrical system. 4) Replaced half the windows 5) Completely gutted and rebuilt the kitchen. 6) Cleaned out and re-insulated the attic 7) Replaced all cast iron sewer piping (excavation under the house!) 8) Smoothed the old "popcorn" ceiling. 9) Installed lighting all over the house that made the house bright and cheerful. 10) Demolished one patio and replaced it with 2 other ones. All this was done in 2-1/2 months! We originally planned to remodel only a bathroom, and do the rest of the project slowly over the next couple of years. Ray and Leo told us that they could do all of it very quickly. We lived in our house during the whole project. We understood that it would be tough, but only for a limited time. It was a great decision to move forward. Right now, were 99% complete. Were there some bumps along the way? Sure. Inevitable in a project of this magnitude. But there were three particularly bright spots in this, for us, and our massive project: Ray -- Was the one who made all the financial commitments. If Ray verbally promised something, he always came through -- even if the contract language didn't explicitly cover it -- even if it involved extra costs. He ate the cost and didn't come back to me for more. His word was gold. Ray was extremely creative. He helped us with layouts of our bathrooms and kitchens that transformed them from the mundane to the exceptional. Leo -- Was the Project Manager. He came to the site daily -- kept abreast of all the day-to-day happenings, and made sure that issues were addressed quickly and professionally. He was always positive. We loved working with him. He was a master at execution. Gustavo -- the head of the painting crew. He behaved almost as if he were a personal friend, giving us advice on colors, and job execution. A really lovable guy. He came day-in/day-out for most of the project. His attention to detail was exceptional. The great advantage of Expert Builders is that they can bring in massive amounts of labor in a very very short time. I wouldn't have believed this had I not seen it. Customer service was exceptional by Expert Builders -- but especially so on a personal level by the three mentioned above. I'm glad we did our project with them. read more

( we are dog people )Finally it turned to what it would cost to do what they wanted for us and if we Didn't do it all They cannot promise us the same price or quality haha ( so wait people never paint after turf ? I must be new to reality ? Thought it happened everyday ?? ) ! Then I began to get annoyed , because I saw their fake game plan all along (. I'm almost 40 ); they were both kids in their 20s charming , good talkers etc... ( they'd sell used cars amazing ) I continued to say I'm running a business here and I need to get Back to work ( I did hours ago as I don't just let my pups be alone that long ever ) Oh , and that I was in the middle of cooking my lunch and hungry when they came ( I was literally starving at this point I had also just worked out ) . I expected a 30 min meeting then quotes with details sent to me via email to talk it over later ( boy oh boy was I wrong ) .They continued to stay and try to talk more about it and the brunette had a magical phone call with his boss that to had a 8% coupon saving me a wowing 8 k lol ( sarcasm again ) ;I finally just got up and was like "ok I have dog clients coming "( one had already came mid long a$$ sales pitch ) No hint taken whatsoeverNext a dog was being picked up so I just got up to go get her and they finally got the hint or what they said had for another job 20'min away and said they said they'll be back. ( yay we're alone ) This gave me time to think and I thought it over and actually became annoyed by it all ! Rudely they first rung doorbell ( I have a sign call or text only due to my dog business ‍) next asking to come inside prior to pricing us at all ( I hate when people invite themselves into my home I would never ever invite myself into a home ever ! ) next no offer to remove extremely dirty shoes ) then the whole not taking any hints to send a quote ! Okay fast forward they came back and I was then cleaning and feeding the pups ( I didn't want to deal anymore so my husband went out to say nicely send a quote. Nope they insisted on measuring more ( to do less for less money ) oh and now they had turf left over from another job to save us lol ( we don't want cheap turf we Didn't pick out ) next was the pressure to fill out paperwork to run credit to finance ( we Didn't say yes ) so finally I was mad so I come out to say " please email me this " then the brunette becomes himself without the fake nice saying " you wasted our whole day " lol They wasted ours too !!! They embarrassed me in front of my dog clients dad saying that. Also they took away 3 hours I can't have back to give my pups Now we're completely done with contractors for a bit . We need a break . Now our floors we hired someone fast because he got to the point , Sent a quote via email and didn't waste my time . We contracted with Expert Home Builders to remove and replace our driveway and front entrance sidewalk. Benjamin was very responsive and after a couple of meetings to define the scope of the project, we were off and running. We selected the Victorian color scheme and also specified low voltage entry lighting, embedded in the stone. We also had the 2 drain pipes installed to route roof drainage directly to the sidewalk, vice having the downspouts pour out on the driveway and sidewalk, as was the original home design. I called to have our concrete driveway and patio cleaned and resealed. Also asked if they did travertine tile and granite cleaning and sealing as well. They assured me "we can do anything for your home". I was told they have a $5000 minimum, but I was sure that all of those jobs together would get to that level. I was assured that with the three quotes totalling over $5000 I could do them all at once or at different times. So, I made an appointment. A few hours before the appointment, they called again to confirm and had apparently done a title search as they asked if my wife (who is on the title) would be present since she is on the title. I said yes. Fifteen minutes before the appointed time, they called to cancel because they actually do NOT do granite or tile cleaning and sealing. Only new tile and granite. They thought, and I agreed, that the concrete alone would not reach the $5000 minimum. To be clear, I did NOT use them. I am not reviewing their work. I am only reviewing their scheduling confusion and disconnect between their "screener" (initial contact) and the people that will actually estimate and do the work. read more

Had my floor done about 1600 square feet. The contractor was Josh... he never called back after I reported a loose tile it's a couple of uneven tiles. Plus his contract workers damage my fire place promise to fix it but could never get it back to the way it was. Let alone breaking brand new tiles that left me with only 3 tiles out of the 10 percent overage I purchase. In short the work was bad and now I can't even open the bathroom door fully without hitting the floor tile. Not worthwhile. Peter read more

After speaking to nearly a dozen other contractors, we picked Expert Home Builders for a full master bathroom remodel that began in April and was completed in just over a couple weeks of actual construction time. It went so well that we expanded it to a guest bathroom refresh, as well as a full kitchen remodel and new flooring. We have a mid-century modern home and wanted to work within that design aesthetic, which was something others seemed unwilling to work with. When we ordered materials and appliances that took longer to deliver, they were understanding and, while they made suggestions, they did not push their own design/materials in order to expedite the process or get a commission at the cost of our design. While there weren't many hiccups, any issue that came up was handled quickly and communicated professionally. They also didn't send a skeleton crew. The cabinetry for our kitchen is the standout, and was designed in-house with expert craftsmanship. They were able to abate decades of lackluster remodels to the house to restore it to its former mid-'50s design glory while updating it for modern usage. They nailed their start dates, were complete in their work, and open to our (many) specific requests and Asi and Meidan communicated well with us during the entire process. We also did not have any surprise cost overruns, as they were open about all expenditures and potential additional work that could be needed at the beginning (curse of having an older house). All in all, would recommend for anybody looking to get work done on either a smaller refresh or an extensive, full remodel. read more

On 10/22/23, I hired this company to install pavers and landscaping to my new house. After the first day, I noticed the poor workmanship. The workers were at my house for about 3 hours. It was the fastest and the worst paver job I've ever seen, although they did not finish. They did not demo the concrete. They simply slapped the pavers on top of the concrete and cemented most of them. There were crooked lines, unleveled and wobbly pavers, gaps everywhere, no sand, no framing, none of the protocols that come with a professional pavers installation. I had a landscape consultant take a look. The consultant's assessment was ALL BAD. The work was horrible and not up to code. I suspect the workers were obtained from a Home Depot parking lot. I terminated our contract and had the pavers professionally removed and set aside for pick up. I am currently in a dispute with them and have requested a full refund. They've offered to come back and do the work correctly, but my confidence and trust in them is gone. As I insisted on a full refund, the rep had the gall, the nerve, the chutzpah, to say that I was taking food off of his table , and that "I wasn't being very nice." Not to mention I was charged Nordstrom prices for Shein quality. What in the millennial fk??? To make a bad situation worse, I learned that this company is not even licensed to perform the work that I'm seeking. Their B- General Building Contractor license is not a license that includes the install of pavers or landscaping. Therefore I am claiming fraud and the contract is void. After putting them on notice about other actions that I will take if my money is not refunded in full, the rep (Ryan) said it was "all good" and " can take those steps". His Supervisor was also on the call and did not check him for the statement. This is why I had to do this review. Beware of this company. Their work was beyond shoddy and I have photos and videos to prove it. They should stick to jobs that are within the scope of their license , and stop with the misrepresentation, cutting corners, and fraud. Extremely disappointing experience for me. I should have done more research before hiring them. We'll see how this ends. read more
