We had them come out and take a look to see what needed to be done. Aviv gave us a fair assessment for the type of work we needed to get done. My neighbor/family member also decided to get her roof checked on the spot, so we ended up with a quote for both. I recently had Rafael and Iris do a full roof replacement for my flat roof. Before deciding, I talked to 3 roofing contractors. Ultimately I chose Rafael and Iris because (1) They have a lot of experience working with flat roofs. For the price, I liked the combination of torch down bitumen APP cap sheet and SBS base layer, along with the labor and materials warranty (2) I asked whether I needed a coating. Instead, they told me the cap layer they used already met cool roof standards, but I could consider a coating many years later to extend the life of the roof (3) I liked working directly with Aviv, the owner, and I felt assured he was invested in the quality of the work and the reputation of his company. Their bid came in on the lower end compared to the others and offered the best value in terms of materials and warranty as well. Aviv handled the entire permitting process. The project started on Monday, the work was done by Thursday, and inspection passed on Friday. He even replaced my skylight and only charged me the cost of materials. I called 4 roofing companies to get an estimate, and while Rafael and Iris were not the cheapest, they were most certainly not the most expensive and we could tell right from the get go that they were a good fit for us. Aviv (the owner) came to see us to give us the estimate. He was open and communicative, but did not waste our time like another company we had called prior. He probably took about 45 minutes to assess the roof and then give us all the options for roofing tiles and colors. He came prepared but didn't waste time, which was appreciated. His company was midrange in cost, and we decided to go with him based on personality. Throughout the process, he was easy to get in touch with via text or phone call. All of our questions were answered in a timely manner before, during, and after the install. It was about a 4 day process, and they were done slightly earlier than they said they'd be. My only tiny criticism is that we had to ask them to come back to paint vents that were supposed to have been done during the initial process. But honestly, they came back right away and didn't fight about it at all. The whole thing was done in a week, and we're very, very happy with Aviv's service. The roof looks great, and we got it done right in time for LA's huge Santa Ana wind event, and we didn't lose one tile- though we had pieces of our neighbor's roofs in our yard. We've now had the roof on for the first rain of the year, and no leaks or any issues. Everything is perfect. And just one added note about the customer service- I had another company come do an insulation installation after the roof was done. They messed something up, and I texted Aviv to ask his opinion- on a weekend! He got back to me right away, told me what to tell the other company to fix, and was so gracious and kind about helping me with work that wasn't even his!
