Beware of Expert Roofing. Their latest scam is after presenting an inflated hail damage claim to your insurance carrier is to then claim your home has lead paint on the exterior siding and trim in hopes of triggering additional charges to add to the scope of repairs. They will routinely argue with your insurance company's' adjuster, challenging the company's position then send in supplemental damage estimates for "Missed" damages. This unethical Contractor epitomizes what is wrong with the roofing industry today. DO NOT sign any contracts with these people or you will predictable forego 20% of your insurance claim payment as is supported by other reviews. (Review Kelly L.'s review.) After some water damage inside our home we found out that our roof, which we were told was new when we bought our house, was actually three layers of rotting shingles, with greater damage due to a storm in May. Brandon was so excellent and thorough in his inspection and was here when the insurance adjustor came to walk him through it. We were nervous about whether or not our insurance would come through and thank goodness it did thanks to Brandon's the expertise. He was always easy to get a hold of and went above and beyond for us, stopping by when he didn't need to to inspect what the workers were doing. He even made them get a new part and replace work they had done so it would be done correctly. We are so grateful and our house looks amazing. Has anyone else in Aurora or Naperville work with this "Busyness"? They have been stringing me along for months and have left the job we signed for incomplete(My gutters have been taken off and its been 6 days and no one has returned to replace them). My yard and driveway are a mess. They have given me every excuse in the book including having me lie to our insurance company in order to have the funds released. Besides our insurance company, is there anyone else that should be notified about these dishonest practices? They were quick to get the sale over the other roofers and had me plant their sign in my yard for a month until our Association notified us to take it down. They have failed on the execution portion of the business. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help get me out of this trap. This is a PSA regarding Expert Roofing . While I don't doubt that there are people that care at this company, we have yet to speak with them. For those of you thinking I should go direct to the company and not blast them on social media, I've tried. I've given them the benefit of the doubt over and over and now I'm done. No one will return my calls or emails (not even their insurance company Lundstrom Insurance in South Elgin). This is a long post but I would never want anyone to have the experience we have with this company and crews that were assigned to our job. We had hail damage done from Memorial Day 2019. After insurance had cleared our claim we began researching companies and had several out. Erik S. from Expert Roofing came out and was so nice and helpful being the sales rep for the company. We decided to go forward with them as everything we discussed was "no problem". In hindsight, everything was made out to be too easy to be true and maybe we should have known working with this company was going to be an issue. Without the entire story, here is what we were left with: · Trailer they brought to haul away siding broke. They forced it down our driveway dragging it and scraping the concrete. · Being so pre-occupied with the broken hitch, they never used the large magnet to find nails. My husband and I did. We spent days out there. See photo- this is just from one side of our house. · They smoked all the time. See photo- one of the many cigrettes we found in our yard. · Erik S had agreed to include wood behind the siding as we were going to hang a tv. His response: "They forgot about that, when you're ready to hang it call me". · We requested the attic fan not be touched as we had recently replaced the motor. I was told that "Because insurance paid for it, it had to be done". I recently found out from an attorney that is actually considered fraud and we DID NOT have to have it done. · When the siding crew was completed, my husband and I were in very disappointed with the lack of workmanship. Edges undone, damage done to door, caulk slapped on, etc. See photos. · Called Erik S. and explained our issues. He had the siding crew come back out to address them. They were so short and could tell they were upset they were being called out. They did fix the wood board that was supposed to initally be installed for our tv. · Roof and gutters - again, nails found everywhere. We expected some, but the amount was dangerous to our boys and dog. Once I sent Erik the photo, he said that "was extreme and please send me the photo so I can show the Quality Control Dept". They gave us $100 credit for this. · One of our largest issues was one particular corner of our garage roof as there is so much water channeled that it overflows. I addressed this with Erik S. when he first came out and he assured us that oversized gutters would fixed this. When the gutter crew came out they said they were not using oversized gutters but oversized downspouts. That added to the water issue. Erik said he never said this. I called him out, and within 4 days had the crew replacing those gutters with the oversized gutters I was orginally promised. Issue still occurred. We finally agreed to just let them caulk the seams and that has helped. · Throughout the summer our attic fan that we never had an issue with wouldn't stop running. Fast forward to our first snow in October and our attic fan that we "had" to replaced did not shut off. This is still an ongoing issue. They initally sent a rep here who just put the settings to zero thinking that would help. He broke our access panel to the attic, and needless to say it didn't fix the fan. We have had their electrican out here who had to rewire the fan as "it was not right, and needed to be safe" as it was taped together with Tyvek tape. The fan went on again. I texted Erik who directed me to speak to John Moesch (production Manager). He stopped answering my texts, but as soon as my husband stepped in he quickly responded to him. Add insult to injury there. John then turned our issue to Allen Haanpaa. They have had 3 crews come here and the fan still stays on. During our 5th inspection one of their lead techs asked why 2 vents were removed. Apparently for the size of the attic and the fan's requirments these vents should have never been removed. When we brought this up to Allen, his reponse was "to go back to insurance to see if they would open this claim up as you will need new soffets for the ventilation the fan requires". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? To follow is the last email we have sent to Allen dated 2/22. We have yet to hear from him. Unfortunately my entire review surpasses the lenght of space Yelps allows. Suffice it to say that it is still unresolved, the last tech that was here unplugged the fan, and Dave Camp is the last person we spoke to. They are not experts so I have had to source other roofing companies to fix their mistakes which I have to personally pay for. read more

Expert Roofing replaced our roof and siding 9 years ago after a hail storm. On April 3, 2017, we had a leak in our roof. I naturally called the company I had been genuinely pleased with. It is now 8/14/17. While initially responsive - they came out and tarped the roof right away and met with the insurance adjuster - I have not been able to get them to return phone calls or txt messages - or come back and complete the repairs. Several shingles are loose ( improper installation according to the insurance adjuster) and nails set to deep ( according to the expert roofing representative) I WOULD NOT RECOMENNED THIS COMPANY. They had a chance to be hero's and fix a roof problem that demonstrates their commitment to their customers and they did not. I have cash in hand and I am ready to hire someone to do this work..... read more

Huge Shoutout to Joe Mac with Expert Roofing. He recently re roofed my parents house. Being in the trade's, my dad has an opinion on everything; I rolled my eyes as he put Joe through the proverbial ringer at the initial estimate. My dad's a hard guy to satisfy, let alone please. (many a waitress can attest to this) After the job was complete, Dad called me looking for help on how to leave a review for Joe and his crew, I asked, "what's wrong?" "Nothing," He proclaimed. "They did a great job, They cleaned up everything, they went above and beyond, they explained everything to me and I want to tell everyone on the internet" At this point I double checked the caller ID to make sure it was indeed my father as the words I just heard from his mouth were surreal. Dad and I decided I should leave the review, So Thank You Joe and crew, I've known that guy for 40 years and can count the people who have impressed him on one hand! Dad also said Joe's price was good and he answered every one of his questions and called him back quickly when he left a message. Beware. Super Shady. I got burned by these guys. Their sales team walk neighborhoods and are trained to deceive you, get on your roof under the guise of a free estimate, and then send you a HUGE bill for the estimate if you don't use them. I chose another company to do my roof, but I received a bill for almost $1,000 within 30 days of getting the so called "free estimate" from these jokers, and they call my house almost daily trying to collect and send threatening letters. They began attempting to extort money from me almost immediately after I chose another company. Here's the scam... The salesperson will tell you that he needs you to sign this form giving them permission to go on your roof to give a free estimate, which it does actually say. He swore to me up and down that there would be no charge for this unless they were hired to do the job, and even then, nothing would be done without approval. I even had him write it on the paper he made me sign because I didn't trust this salesman. What they didn't tell me, and they won't tell you, is that there is fine print on the back side of said form that states the home owner will owe them 15% of the job fee if you don't use them to do the repair. They didn't get the job, but I have been harassed by them ever since I allowed them to give me an estimate. The letter I received threatens legal action if not paid, and states I will be responsible for paying their legal fees to collect Don't let them on your roof no matter what they promise you. I am so thankful I didn't give them the job, but I wish I never answered the door. Expensive lesson learned. read more

This company has spent over $ 17 K roofing replacement. They did very poor job and they were threatening me when they wanted to collect payment. Both Steve Miletic and Shane Money acted very rood in answering questions. My next door neighbor roof cost was only $ 10K. I recently had my roof replaced due to hail damage. The representative from Expert roofing, Steve, went on my roof with my claims adjuster to confirm with him the hail damage. When they came to tear off and replace my roof, it took 7 hours from start to finish. They were hard working and did an excellent job. Steve Hermanson was my contact. I want to keep this as short and to the point as possible. The lists of examples of poor workmanship on our home, their unprofessional mannerisms time and time again, and their many means of dishonesty, led us to a more than miserable experience. From their project manager never on site supervising even for a moment as he said he would through our large project (new roofing, siding, gutters, fascia, and windows), to dealing with subcontractors who have little to no experience and can barely speak English, to their contract that gives the customer absolutely no rights, please do yourself a favor and stay clear of hiring Expert Roofing. If you get so far as to possibly signing, PLEASE read the small print of the contract and consult with a lawyer before signing on the dotted line. We did not, (being an extended family member referred them to us), and now before signing anything with a contract, especially one that involves our property, we will consult our lawyer first. There are many contracting companies out there that will provide a customer with an acceptable project result, are looking out for customer satisfaction, and that as a customer one would refer a friend to. I would not refer anyone to Expert Roofing. read more

There are plenty of roofing companies who specialize in insurance replacements, but there's a fine line between trying to get people what they deserve and being downright shady that too many of those companies cross. Expert has done work for a few of my family and friends and done a few inspections for me - they don't cross that line, and they do high-quality work. I was happy to be working with them when during an adjuster visit on a 2-flat I own, the adjuster told me he hired Expert to do work on his personal residence after dealing with them on various insurance replacements. He absolutely gushed about them, which was surprising to me given that adjusters and contractors are usually mutual enemies. read more

Sadly...the field representatives that came out to our home to inspect for hail damage on 5/5/18 totally mislead us! Being shaken by the evaluation, they said they would help us report the damages to our insurance. WE did call the insurance with them. BUT...The damages they outlined in their report specification agreement...were NOT cooperated by two other roofing companies. One company did in fact provided me with a letter stating after his inspection he found no signs of hail damages. I called my insurance back and informed them...BUT it was to late to retract my claim and, that it can and did make my insurance increase. HOPEFULLY...this review will HELP OTHERS. Our experience with them only went as far as getting an estimate. The rep came on time (well within one hour), addressed all our questions clearly, gave suggestions that didn't generate immediate business for them, and above all was not pushy. Their summary roughly coincided with info given to us by other respectable companies I will definitely give them another call the next time we need their servives. read more

We dealt with a guy named Rich Cameron, and everything seemed like it was pretty straight forward. He'd help with the insurance claim (which covered a portion of the work on the new roof), and they'd be out to do the job in a day. The job ended up taking two days, which isn't a big deal. The work done was sloppy at best. Tiles weren't lined up well, they left tar all over the walkway, there's holes in our ceiling all over the living room (they don't leak, but they're ugly.) We saved a bunch by using these guys, but I guess you get what you pay for. When the final bill came, they tried to charge us about $1200 more than we had agreed upon. I think they were just hoping we wouldn't dispute the charge and pay up. I called them and had to remind them of the agreed upon rate that we had in writing. They backed down and we paid the original price, but it was pretty suspect and shady. We showed them the sloppy job their workers had done, and they said they'd fix it, but we've never heard from them again. read more

Sure they got me a new roof, siding and gutters, however the sales representative was sleazy and shady. This was all installed August of 2013 and my gutters are now leaking down the side of the house (they never did that before). They had come back out twice now and when I called the office again to have someone come out and fix it, the lady seemed pissed that I was complaining about the work. Oh, yeah, the sales guy said he could have his people extend my door size from a 32" to a 36" frame. I gave him the down payment and never did the work. When I finally said waiting a month for this was too much, he proceeded to call me a bully and said he would return my money. "Expert Roofing came to my home in Mokena and told me the most unbelievable thing, that my 17 year old roof might qualify for storm damage (wind and hail) and that I could possibly get a new one for free after i pay only a deductible. I let them represent me and it was to my surprise an unbelievably great experience! First they met my insurance adjuster after my claim was put in, they demonstrated all the significant hail and wind damage on my roof, vents, gutters and siding and the adjuster agreed to buy me a new roof with some repair on the siding and downspouts. Then Expert Roofing upgraded me to a life-time "Architectural" shingle and wiped out half my deductible, they put on a whole new roof with new vents and a solar power attic fan and everything matches in color and looks amazing. I have been in the Electrical and construction business for over 25 years and must say that this is probably one of the top 5 worst contractors I have run into, much less Hired. We suffered hail damage on Memorial Day weekend, 2019. This company was quick to contact us to do the repairs and be the liaison between us and the Insurance company. At the inception it seemed like a good idea. I don't have enough ink to write down all the things that went bad on this process. The job of re-roofing, residing, gutters and a garage door replacement was not completed until January of 2020! We found them to be the most un-professional, scatterbrained and incompetent bunch of people. All they cared about was to get the insurance company to approve extras and make repairs that we did not even want done. Read the fine print on their contracts. It says they have the right to do whatever the insurance company will agree to, whether you want it done. You lose potential control of what work is done on your home. We had purchased another home during this process and simply could not get this company to finish the work so we could put it on the market, costing us thousand of dollars in utilities, Taxes, Insurance and house payments. My neighbor filed an insurance claim for roof and siding storm damage per the recommendation and guidance of the Expert Roofing representative. The claim was accepted by her insurance company, and she will soon have a new roof and siding. I then asked the representative to evaluate my roof for storm damage. After the inspection, he informed me that there was no evidence of storm damage on my roof and no need to replace it.
