Updated details based on owner's response…read more Stay away.  We hired 1 Day Bath on March 2nd and they promised they would complete our kitchen renovation by May 1st (my wife was 30 weeks pregnant at the time). We made all payments in a prompt manner. We found out later they use fake positive reviews and stock photos on their website (and probably here too, see news article at the end).   At the project's beginning, work went quickly in clearing out the old kitchen.  Because of this, we also hired 1 Day  Bath to renovate our fireplace and do minor bathroom work.  They assured us the additional work would not interfere with the kitchen project (different work crews they said) and everything would still be completed by May 1st.  It turns out 'work crews' meant one person and we never had more than one worker show up on the same day. After kitchen demolition, the project moved along at a snail's pace.  Our project manager rarely showed up and did not communicate the progress of our project to us or others in the company.  One month in he left the company and no one replaced him thus leaving our project without a supervisor.  I would frequently text/call Don (owner) about the disappointment in the project progress.  He would make meaningless apologies/excuses.  The pace never picked up and he never once visited on site even when the project was left without any supervision. From March 15th to May 2nd, we had absolutely no kitchen and no working being done. It was a huge room of just concrete, with a big trench in the middle of the kitchen floor (not safe for anyone, let alone for a family with pets and a 35+ week pregnant woman).  Why would they remove our old kitchen if the new kitchen wasn't going to be installed for several months?  Our refrigerator was in the garage and we cooked on a portable stove.  We still didn't have a functional kitchen by the time our baby was delivered on May 17th.   From June to August a worker would show up sporadically for still unfinished items such as installing the backsplash, painting, cabinet handle fixtures, etc. In early August most of the work was finally 'complete' (three months past promised completion date). We requested the standard final walkthrough before final payment as agreed in the contract (per contract, 25% of the payment is pending on final walkthrough). On August 7th, a newly hired site supervisor came out and agreed that some work was not up to par and more work needed to be done.  However, he said he must collect the final check or they would sue us.  He wrote an email with a to-do list, promising to return within three weeks to finish/fix everything.  He wouldn't leave until he had the check. Concerned about our family safety, we reluctantly handed over the final check (yep I know, that was not smart and I should have called the police). The email stated (which Don was included on) the site supervisor promised to return within three weeks, which would be Saturday, Aug 28th.  On the 28th (talk about cutting it close) at 11:30 he called and said he needed to reschedule to Sunday "due to unforeseeable circumstances".  On Sunday he never showed and stopped responding to my text messages and calls.  At this point I naturally assumed our business together was done and when I wrote the initial review and started planning for small claims court. Weeks later Don texted having no idea about the timeline above and asked about 'fixing all the things that were installed wrong' (does no one communicate with each other in this company?). Any 'fix' to the flooring would be a band aid. It was not installed properly and needs to be completely redone (the estimates I received from professional flooring companies thought I installed it). This is something Don refuses to acknowledge. Don's response is simply not true on all accounts. At no point was anyone anything but polite to the workers. The allegations against my wife's parents (this is insulting) are completely false and there is no recording. The actual workers really liked us and we keep in touch for odd jobs. I have no issue with them, wasn't their fault. We received a 1% discount (wow, thanks!) for the items that were not completed on the contract. I guess for paying $91,000 I was expecting a lot more: such as staying on the promised time schedule due to a newborn coming home, not not having a kitchen for three months with not work being done, having a project manager, communication on project status/timeline, and high quality work. The company has a past. On top of that, Eli sent us multiple updates every day that we were out of the house to keep us aware of what was happening. Pictures, video, text explanations, and he was always available for a call. It really put my mind at ease that the house was well taken care of in our absence. He ran the outside taps when it froze, kept the house at the temperature we requested, and cleaned up everything after. He also made us aware of little things like how the paint color we picked for baseboards didn't match the existing trim. With everything he did, made sure that we would be happy with the finished product. Quality: The workmanship is outstanding. The tile is cut and laid beautifully, with no hollow sounds when walking. Attention to Detail: What really makes the work stand out is the team's attention to detail. They replaced a section of baseboards that wasn't in the work area to make them match because they were visible from the living room. They were kind enough to reinstall our baby gates at a higher position because the new baseboards were taller than the old ones. They even patched a hole in the carpet of one of our bedrooms with the scraps they pulled up from the living room. This wasn't something that we had asked them to do, they just took the initiative to really make everything nice for us when we came home. It would cost $100 and if we liked the estimate it would go towards the cost. I don't need it and didn't ask for it. I guess that's there way of charging for an "estimate" Melissa also said the owner is a designer. If that's so, his expertise should be part of the process automatically. You know, the cost of doing business. I read in a previous review that their estimate was done contactless with photos sent by the customer. Looks like that's NOT their process any longer. I'm guessing they have enough work and don't need any new stuff??
