Squeak...screech...squeak. That was the sounds of the brakes on our truck when we realized that we should probably take it in to have it looked at. Our first thought was to take it to the Ford dealer down the road, but my boyfriend had been to Express Car Care for an oil change and a few other services about a month before, so figured we'd take it back there. The oil change process was very straightforward and the prices were right. While he was there, they suggested a few other services. They didn't pressure the additional services, but we knew the truck needed them, so decided to move forward with power steering fluid and one other thing (I can't remember at this time). Service was quick and we've had no problems since. Fast forward to the brake issue, and we called early on a Thursday morning. They could look at the truck that morning, phew! There was a small diagnostic fee to figure out what was causing all the sounds, but that could be applied towards the fix should we choose to move forward. Turns out the brakes had been neglected for a while and we needed pretty much everything to be re-done. Although unfortunate, it wasn't surprising as we bought the truck used and drive it a lot. After discussion, they were able to start work right away that morning and we had the vehicle back that afternoon. The price felt right and we were happy they could fit us in right away. No more squeaks or screeches, and my boyfriend says everything feels brand new. I'm glad we took it in to get fixed - I feel much better with him driving a vehicle with working brakes! Surprise car repairs are never fun (or cheap), but the team at Express Car Care made it a pleasant experience. The location is super convenient for the Virginia Village neighborhood - we can drop our vehicle off and walk home while we wait! We will definitely be bringing out vehicles here for future service. Getting work done to my car is a necessary evil, I don't love doing it but it's needed. I've been taking my SUV to Express Car Care for a little over a year now for oil changes and minor service issues. The prices are comparable to other places and the service is quick and done well. I had been using express car care for years with my vehicles I took my 2005 Jeep grand Cherokee Limited there I told them that it needed synthetic oil, they put in conventional oil my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree!!! I got a "ballpark estimate" over the phone and drove over there an hour later to have the brake pads replaced. The place is clean and neat. The staff (the owners) wonderfully polite and friendly. The work was done in an hour and the price was just what I was told (which was 50% lower than another estimate). We asked about a decent breakfast place in the area and we were directed to a nearby eatery where we were served YUUUUUGE portions of good, homemade food at a really good price. Unfortunately I have to change my review. Every time I get an oil change here my oil light comes on before my service is due. I don't know a lot about cars and I expect that when I take my car in fluids and everything are checked. A few days after I brought my car for a service, my oil light came on and I had to pull over, buy oil, and fill it up. I told them specifically I was going for a long car trip and to have my car prepared. Additionally they always ask me if I want to replace my air filter because it looks bad. I always say yes. After some research, apparently an air filter only has to be changed every 3 years, not every time you get an oil change. Disappointed that I thought I could trust these guys. On the bright side, they are fast so at least that "express" representation is correct. read more

I didn't wan't it NOW but was just wondering why walk ins means we don't take walk ins. I get it now because I tried to walk in as a walk in...or something. For the record, once i got the extension for my ratchet it got the bulb changed in a snap. Quicker than an oil change even. You said at the time that you weren't sure what changing the bulb entailed, but you could have asked me. I knew how to do it, I just didn't have the tool at the time. Half are one stars huh? this place sucks went in for what I thought was back brakes turns out it was front brakes so the guy told me $195 for back brakes I thought that was high but so I said ok they change them then it turns out front brakes he told me it would be $355 plus tax I'm thinking Damm $100 per tire ok then when it was all said and done it was $575 hr then said he told me it was 355 just for the front which he didn't he said he can pull the audio so I told him let's pull it he then told me he was in charge and he didn't pull it is told him I wanted an itemized print out he would not give me one. The oil change on the spot was the only fair thing about this place. They lied to me on the spot and told me my headlights needed to be replaced, charging ~$80 on the spot for that alone. They claimed to have checked everything around the headlight area. Just a couple of days later, the headlights went out again. They failed to detect faulty burned sockets. I brought car back in and they said it would be an additional service of $210 or $420 for both to repair the sockets, claiming they didn't see it before. I asked for them for refund me for the headlights since they failed to detect the socket issue. They refused and said no. I am going back tomorrow morning to try to speak with the main manager to get my money back before going to my neighborhood mechanic for a cheaper, honest, time effective headlight repair. These guys are not honest and lying on the spot, thinking that they can get away with "ripping off" young white females, thinking they are naive. Listen sir... I'm not stupid and I live within my means. Please give me my refund of $80. And I'm never returning unless you pull a heroic act. Don't go here. This is terrible business. Your job is to please the customer and always give the customer the benefit of the doubt and assume the customer is right. read more

I took my car in for an oil change about four months ago and got a great vibe about the place from the get go. Last week I took my car in for a more serious braking issue I was having. The technicians at Express Auto Care quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced my front brakes, brake pads, brake calipers and did an oil change in the quoted time of an hour and a half. Everything (internet, door signs, etc) indicates shop hours are M-F 8:00-5:30. I dropped my car off early in the afternoon during lunch break at work, returned to pick it up at 4:00 and the shop was already closed with nobody in sight and my car locked in the garage. No one mentioned anything about closing early when I dropped it off and said I'd be back later to pick it up. I had to return at 8 the next morning forcing me to be late for work.
