I have taken my car for regular maintenance since I moved to Denver. I have not encountered any issues with them. The staff is very friendly and the mechanics are very forthright when it comes to diagnostics and recommended fixes. They explains the issues/recommendations to me as it is without getting into a crazy sales pitch mode. It is conveniently located at Evans and Holly in SE Denver, not far from I-25. Early Dec '21, they tell me they'll call back with a quote. I call back three weeks later and they said they lost my phone number. They also ask for my VIN so I give them that as well. Three weeks later I call them again and they say they lost the VIN. Waste of time. If I were them I would have said, "We're very sorry, and furthermore, we'd like to knock off X% off your bill," and not, "Can I get that VIN, again?" When something is too hard, maybe delegate, or maybe quit. read more

I got a referral from my neighborhood group that this was the place to go. When getting my oil changed at the dealership, they stated I'd need to have my brakes done. Although I get my oil changed there, I wouldn't have work done there. I looked for a mechanic/garage in the area and asked for referrals. I would 100% recommend this location. They were helpful, told me how much my brake pads had left (they didn't recommend a brake change yet). They were also really helpful in installing a new battery I had purchased, but never put in because I didn't buy a tool for it. (Super helpful.) The fact that they told me straight up that I didn't need brakes yet and gave me an honest assessment of what was happening would make me recommend them to anyone looking for a place to take a car. My car is a 2010, so she's not new, but it's a Subaru with 88k and many miles left. Definitely recommend. read more

I've been trying to get all the life I can out of my 09 Subaru Forester, so I decided to look into several repairs that had on the back burner. After taking my car into a different mechanic, I wanted a second opinion on the suggested repairs and cost. I looked on Yelp, NextDoor and Google, where I found a good amount of positive reviews for Elder's Auto. After taking my car in and reviewing the suggested repairs from the other guys I was glad I found this place. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledge throughout my repairs. I ended up replacing my head gasket and spending a good chunk of change on the repairs, but Im happy to say the car is running better than ever and I'm hopeful I'll be feeling past 200k miles soon. They are the professionals and they will not take advantage of you. Schomp ford told me I needed an $8k transmission repair, but turns out not the problem! They referred me to a different shop, also took care of a battery issue, warranted and replaced all free of charge! The Schomp charged me $170 for the bad advice and were rude to boot. read more

Elder is the rare find. We had both our family vehicles break down. One I was not in a hurry as it had been down for awhile I had to have it towed. Other reviews talk about how good Elder was, but they said you may have to wait a week or so. I was amazed that they got started working on my car right away (air suspension repair) it was out and back to me the same week. It was hundreds of dollars less than I had been expected. It was then I took my fiancées car there. We had been quoted $4500-$6300 elsewhere for multiple necessary repairs. Elder got us in and out again for $3300, again a huge savings. You can trust that Elder will do what's necessary, cost effectively. They will not upsell out gouge you. There is a reason they are busy! read more

So after taking my Toyota up to a dealer in Boulder(who shall remain unnamed) and getting quoted close to $7000, to fix my 2006 Avalon. I found these guys and they fixed everything on my car for less than $1200. I knew the gas cap needed to be replaced and the sensor was returning some bogus code and wanted to see if they would find it and they did. The Toyota dealership wanted to charge me over $800 to replace some charcoal filter and these guys caught it and replaced the gas cap which cost me less than $20. I am a NYer so by default I assume everyone is trying to rip me off. These guys did right by me and I would recommend them hands down to anyone looking to get their car fixed and not get fleeced. read more

I was introduce to Elder Auto from Next door my local neighborhood Message board. Quite a few positive remarks. So, I thought a lot of my neighbors like them I'll give them a try. What a HUGE MISTAKE! Had them fix my Power steering issue on my Pontiac Grand Am. After the 1st visit the vehicle was NOT fixed! Vehicle was still leaking power steering Fluid. Had a whole new Rack and Pinion system installed because I was informed by Elder Auto that's what needed to be done. Took the car back, was told there was another problem and that'll be an additional charge cause that problem wasn't covered under the 2yr , 24,000 mile parts and labor warranty. (The Warranty can be found at the bottom of the paper work that they give you as a receipt.) So I said okay and Agreed to have that fixed. Well, it still had the same problem. I was told again, this is a another problem that wasn't covered and that would be an addition charge. This is now the 3rd time I had been there to have this problem fixed. This was the LAST time that I will go there for anything! They claimed this was another hose. I go to pick up my vehicle, I notice that the front fender between the door and the front fender is bent out of shape. I go in ask, What happened to my car? The Fender is all bent. I was told," We always take pictures of every car before we work on them " it's called a walk around". So, the person I dealt with said " Looks like there were NO pictures taken." I was also told at least two different technicians worked on my vehicle. They then told me that "the technician who was working on your car couldn't open the door to get in to the car so, he took a pry bar and bent the fender all out of shape". So he could enter the vehicle. Now is it to much to ask, if you can't open a door to a car to call the owner of the car and say We have a issue and we need your opinion. Listen, I know it's not a $ 15000.00 vehicle. (For it's age the vehicle looks and runs great) That's not the point. The point is, When I dropped off the car I was able to get in and out of the car with no problem. Door opened and closed without any issues. And also it's a four door vehicle How about trying to use ONE of the other doors. I'll bet you're asking yourself Did they offer you anything for the damage done? ABSOUTLEY NOT! Told me I could probably find a used fender at a salvage yard. Ohh the person I dealt with did offer to TRY and bend it back so it didn't look as bad. I declined this offer. So this morning I go to drive the the vehicle I notice the steering is making the same noises as it did before. Which means there's still a problem. I open the hood check the power steering reservoir. There's no fluid in the reservoir! Are you kidding me!!! Unbelievable! Recap WASN'T that the whole reason I came there in the first Place. So bottom line if you choose to go to Elder Auto just be aware this may or may not be your experience. I paid a lot of money to have this problem fixed. I will NEVER RETURN TO Elder Auto. read more

I've been coming here for 10+ yrs and have sunk a lot of money into multiple vehicles, which I was okay with given they're trustworthiness. This summer, I took my Prius in for catalytic convertor replacement. Two weeks later the convertor was stolen. I returned w/the Prius as I didn't know what had happened. They asked to keep it for a few days stating they could give me some ideas for selling Prius for parts. Three weeks later, they said I could only get a couple of hundred for the Prius. I donated the car and was informed it was sold for $1k at auction. I don't know what happened but it's very unlike any experience I had with them and will not be back. It's sad bc as a female it's nearly impossible to find an honest mechanic. read more

My 91 year old aunt couldn't start her car which was in a parking garage. She called around and Elder was the only shop that would help. They came and picked up her car (1999 Toyota) and took it to their shop. They had to find the parts first, order them and install. They kept her informed the whole time, gave a very reasonable quote and fixed it. They even picked her up and brought her to the shop once the car was finished. I only found out about everything when the car was fixed. I can't thank them enough for taking care of my aunt, making her feel very secure and comfortable with everything that was happening. After taking my car THREE times to another shop to get my alignment corrected, Elder Auto was finally able to get the alignment corrected. Not only did they spot the issue after the first try, they were nice enough to explain why it might not have been corrected properly the previous times by the other shop. The fact that they were able to find the cause of the issue vs. the other shop is a win in my book. Secondly, Ken was nice enough to inform me that my rear brakes needed to be changed. No hard sell, just simple facts. There was only about 15% left on them. I wasn't looking to get them done but better safe then sorry. Lastly, I asked them to check my suspension as there have been noises coming from that area. Ken was great at telling me that although the noises are around, there is no safety problems my car which he left up to me to correct or not. It was going to be another $600+ to get this corrected. I appreciated that they could have easily upsold me and told me its needed but instead just gave the facts and said it's not necessary and could be done at a later time. Honesty goes a long way especially in this line of business. Appreciate that from these guys! Will be back. read more

My daughter has a Subaru and loves Elder Auto on Evans . I also have a Subaru, and had some recall work done at the Subaru dealer. I asked the Dealer what the clicking sound in the front was and they told me that they don't test drive the car, and didn't notice any clicking sound. They only put it on the rack and look at it. I was not to happy about that. So I went to Elder Auto as my daughter really likes them. They told me my CV axles were really bad and needed replaced also my brake pads were down to 1 mm meter so I had all the work done there, and just to compare I got a quote from the Subaru dealer as expected much higher $$$$. Brought my car in for a routine fix, something that would easily be done in a day for most service providers, but after promising to have the job done for two days in a row, I got a call late in the afternoon on a Friday that they had not touched it. Things happen, but let people know with a reasonable notice. We count on having our cars and we count on service providers that will communicate in a helpful way and get us back on the road. This place was great and speedy. Brought in my Volkswagen to get a serious fix done and they were very nice and quick to get it done. The customer service was great! The guys at the front immediately greeted and assisted me as I walked in and were eager to help. I cannot believe I did not write a review for this establishment long ago!!! After my regular mechanic couldn't get to me during the holiday season, I came to Yelp to research reviews for other local mechanics. I happened upon Elder and book an appointment for brakes and an oil change. Upon arriving early, I was greeted pleasantly and invited inside. There were two seasoned men inside, hanging out, who I have realized are a staple of the morning Elder environment. They were chatting and greeted me as well. Elder provides a small selection of complimentary beverages and snacks for their patrons and they also provide drop-off/pick-up service for clients leaving their cars for maintenance so that you still have transportation to and from your destination for the day. All of the staff are very friendly. The service is affordable and honest. They won't do work they have verified is unnecessary and they will let you know if they find any other issues but they don't pressure you to get the work done right then or even with them if it is unnecessary and their quotes are not outrageous. They are very accommodating. Upon additional visits, I find the same quality of service. On my last visit, the owner let me know that this location will be relocating to a building at Evans/Holly, a little farther east of I-25. I look forward to continued business with this establishment. read more

I regret not using this auto shop sooner, as I overpaid for unnecessary repairs two times prior with recommendation from the other shop that I needed a new axle. Elder auto was friendly, detailed with their explanation, and explained honestly why I was having certain issues with my vehicles handling that completely explained the diagnosis, even though it conflicted with the prior shop I used. The repair price may have been a little on the high side, but I admit I have not been to many shops in Denver. read more
