Used to visit Express Car Wash on my way to work every few weeks. Made a special visit there today to take care of a very dirty car and after $47.50 (including tips), two runs through the vacuum, wash and dry station and the hand cleaning of the interior, i still had to come home and re-vacuum and clean the crumbs out of my car. When I called management to let them know, they could have cared less. Much, much quality has been lost since i last visited and i will NEVER be back. read more

Can I get zero stars? I used to be a loyal customer but ever since the experience I had there...I will NEVER be back. I even contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. An employee dragged my custom 18" rims across the metal and wrote up an incorrect wash. When I tried to correct the problem, the "manager" ran out from the office screaming at me and harassing me about getting a "free vacuuming". How about 100 free vacuumings to pay for the damaged rims? Manager was screaming in my face and caused me to shake so badly I had to pull over on the side of the road after I left. AWFUL. It's winter in Chicago and you need a quick car wash, DO NOT GO HERE! You get what you pay for and I was dumb enough to take my virtually new car (3K miles) to this place. When I came out I pulled into their lot and started to towel it off. Right on the side post of the front windshield a bunch of scratches. I went and told the attendant, he got the manager and then his manager. They proceeded to get into a huge debate with me combing the car to find any other dents. They even pointed out some scratches on the side mirror that I had never seen before that were clearly also caused by them. I'd been here before with other cars and never had a problem. I didn't think it was big deal and would have been more than happy if they just said- "hey will put some wax and buff it out." Instead they went into this back and forth about how it wasn't their machine that did it. Better to spend a little extra if you care about your car. This place will mess it up and the staff could care less about happy customers or return visits. STAY AWAY! read more

Bottom line - this car wash SCRATCHES your car! There isn't anything else that would cause horizontal scratches from the front to rear fender, on both sides. These guys will deny it, but its very obvious to people who care for there cars and know exactly when new scratches appear. On my passenger door, the scratches broke through the paint. You can feel how rough the wash is as you hope it doesn't hurt your car, but sadly, it does. Don't make your $10 wash cost you THOUSANDS in paint damage. read more

On one of the busiest days of the year for car washes after a big snow storm, we got jerked around by the employees. My husband purchased a car wash 5 days earlier and received an additional free car wash within the week. We waited in line for 20 minutes only to have the redemption code not recognized. When we raised this with the employees they played dumb, claiming not to hear us, then asking us to get in line again to use it, and then telling us it expired and counting the days of the week off. They were flippant, difficult and disrespectful. It's not worth the deal or waiting in line to be treated that way. They eventually gave us the car wash after some protests by us but overall a bad experience. read more

WORST CAR WASH EVER! My car was just as dirty as before I went through. They said I was the first person ever to complain so I said to the guy you must have just started here. I cant imagine I am the only person ever to say something about the wash. He blamed it on the fact I only got the $3.00 "light" wash. Anyway, waste of $3.00 and they would not refund my money or run my car back through. HORRIBLE customer service and I will never go back. I washed my car there everyday before school and today I went in, washed my car but all vacuums were being used, so I went in after class to vacuum and they shut the vacuums on me. The employee came out telling me that I had to go through the wash first and when I tried to explain the situation he ignores me and just walked away! Never going there again! read more

I've going to this car wash for a few months and experienced 2 problems with the car wash. The first problem is that I have an SUV and Everytime I went in they put some kind of plastic sheathing on my rear windshield wiper, wasn't sure why the did it. I found out around April 28th, when I got to my destination, I looked at the rear of the truck and my wiper blade unit was cracked, in the up position about 20 degrees. I called the next day, and left a message. Call a few days after that nobody answered, call again today, may 7th, the guy answered. Told me there isn't much they can do, it says they are not responsible because they are made of plastic. So I guess buyer beware. Also, I would have to wash the back of my truck before I go also, because it would never clean the back of the truck, either the $3 one or the $7 one. My conclusion is that the equipment was purchased before SUV's were popular and therefore not designed to clean SUV's. Good Luck - SUV DRIVERS and rear wiper blade vehicles. read more

The wash is good, although it costs much more than $3. I go after 7p for a discount. I get the premium wash and receive a code for a free wash within 5 days. It looks really packed but things move quickly. The vacuums are strong and the employees are nice. I feel like I am in a version of Willy Wonka going through the wash which I enjoy! My one complaint is that the wipers really take a beating. Mine is currently hanging off after my last wash. They tape them down but the tape just comes right off. read more

$3 and a well maintained automatic car wash. Free self serve vacuums any time too. Every couple of washes I'll opt for the full big money wash for $14 that practically washes the car twice, undercarriage wash, a layer of wax, rain-x treatment, and hot air dryers to seal the wax. The shine lasts for a few weeks, which for the price, is hard to complain about. The big money wash includes a free quick wash within 5 days of purchase. Try to go on off peak times. Car lines can and do get long. read more

I usually love this car wash, however I tried to discuss that I didn't get a receipt with the worker while vacuuming, he told me I should have asked the guy when entering the car wash. I didn't realize I got a free car wash with the receipt until after entering the car wash and the water was on. I tried to explain this to him, and he just said I needed to let the other guy know before entering. I gave up trying to explain this to him, however I did not get my free rewash, which is frustrating. read more

This is a great fast carwash, no matter how long the line is you never have to wait very long. I really hate having to deal with the hand wash places when I am in a rush, first of all they aren't fast but also so much human interaction and tipping...A few of the neg comments I read on here are confusing to me...I have been here many many times and never have I been yelled at. As for the 5 day re wash policy yes of course you need a receipt, how would they know you have been here at all??? Sometimes I worry about what people think you should be able to do or have with no proof. read more

I like that the car wash is RIGHT off the highway. I stop here after class to quickly vacuum *for free* my car and run it through the wash. I wouldn't go too far as to say that it is the greatest car wash in the world, but for a quick $3 wash (I have tried the other, more expensive washes as well), it certainly isn't bad. Although it can get busy in the summer, I haven't had many issues with trying to get my car in for a quick vacuum. read more

$10 car wash and there's still dirt and soap on the car, the car wash didn't even rinse the car properly so imagine how bad of a job it did on the actual wash. The vacuums have very low suction barely picks anything up. read more

Just going to add to the existing reviews, which I felt were mostly on-point (both positive and negative): 1) The line is often very long and stretches onto Fullerton. I find that I have to enter the car wash going eastbound on Fullerton. If I go westbound it is impossible to turn left into the wash. 2) Important! If it's your first time and you are using the Yelp upgrade to the $6 wash, what you do is pay for the $3 wash and go through all the steps on the Yelp application to 'check in'. Have it ready for the attendants (or they will get salty and annoyed with you). They will then upgrade you to the $6 wash just prior to entering. Good luck! read more

Came here on a Saturday morning and was out in 10 minutes. Had the "full service" which was less than the other packages. Why? No wax - but new cars don't need wax and certainly not in the summer... Full service because they do the windows and vacuum. $10.95 From what I believe. Every one there was really nice and the guys who did the hand drying and "detailing" were VERY thorough. I still think the wash is great and at an awesome price but now that I've gone when it's busy, unfortunately they do lose a star for customer service. I was yelled at twice during my visit (First I was told to stop because I had pulled up too quickly then immediately afterward another employee screamed at me to let off the brakes?). Two separate employees who actually yelled at me, scowling and hand waving and all. Good thing it's a car wash so even though they're unpleasant, it's a minimal interaction (in and out in 8 minutes) Might have to stick to going in the middle of the afternoon before it's busy and everyone has lost their patience. read more

I am filing a lawsuit on grounds of breach. I paid $6 for a car wash then was denied the use of the vacuums (because my car was "still too wet" from their wash) - this according to the trash can man tasked with cleaning the trash cans while using obscene language. This is a clear breach of contract as the big sign says, free vacuums and I paid for the wash - nothing on the big sign about "unless we fail to dry your car properly" - which of course was completely out of my control, and obviously in thiers - (same visit, no break from wash to vacuums, to be clear). The trash can man told be to stop using the vacuum and then told me to "get fucked" (see Aubrey B) as he pulled the equipment out of the wall - manager Jeffery agreed that this was appropriate and that the insulting yet somehow employable (?) trash can man was right and his job was secure - then hung up on me - so i called back and he told me I was wasting his time - then hung up on me again. I would recommend all others avoid this place of find yourself exposed to their verbal abuse/poor excuse for a place of business. Abusive, ignorant, unprofessional, low class, fraudulent, negligent...wah wah $3 wash, the worst...pathetic. read more

I went to this car wash after leaving my second shift for work to vacuum and wash my car since it hadnt been really cleaned since I got it and I wanted to get it washed a couple more times before it gets cold. What I like is that everyone was there to clean their cars out and not doing ghetto crap. The guy who was doing a pre wash power cleaning needs to lose the attitude be lucky your tail has a job because there are people who would be happy to do your job. I never went her prior to their remodel/rebranding, but it is a really good $3 car wash. It's quick, painless, and they give you free vacuums! If only they offered free air for your tires this place would be perfect! The employee that I encountered was very unprofessional, but had a good sense of humor and was helpful. I searched and searched the Roscoe Village & surrounding area for an automatic car wash for and this was the only one in the area. It is a great way to entertain a little guy for a $6 basic car wash! Surprisingly GOOD sparkly car wash! Short story: I drove a thousand miles from the south a cpl of months ago in my beautiful new car that I made a promise to; a promise to her that I will forever treat her right and keep those curves waxed. Well, I still haven't gotten around yet to taking her in for her much-needed semi-annual full body rubdown, as the gas station drive thrus hosed her down like a Vegas whore, leaving water streaks and underbody matter. But like a mini-miracle from the heavens above, she leads me down Fullerton Ave and into the gates of...Express Car Wash? Oh yes indeed. As I've been looking for a wash w/ monthly memberships, I was intrigued at the selection of unltd. wash options but wanted to go through a test drive first. I opted for the $14 ultimate wash, which offered a coating of HOT wax (well who wouldn't?) Also comes with a free basic wash w/in 5 days (hell yeah). Anyway, as she entered the disco light show of a true modern wash spa, got covered in hot wax, completely rinsed down & heat blasted, and got her shoes sharply shined, we pull in front of FREE vacuum bay to see the finish. Too bad I didn't take a pic, but maybe I was too amazed at how CLEAN my whip was! This car wash has incredible cleaning power as it was able to remove virtually all of the road matter that had built up on the front fender. The hot wax layer adds a very noticeable shine, and I didn't even need to add my own tire shine--which is normally the case with auto-washes. The only reason I'm withholding from a 5-star rating is due to no one around to redeem my Yelp check-in offer. Seems pretty odd to me that they don't provide a wash upgrade code within the Yelp app that can be easily entered into their terminal. Oh well, we shall be back for round 2 for sure... read more

First time here. Was short on time so decided to stop. Got the basic wash for $7. Didnt get any of the upgrades. Gotta say for a automatic track car wash it did a great job. Obviously being automatic it didn't get the nooks and crannies of the car. But 95% of the car was cleaned really well. Came at noon on a weekday and had only 1 car in front me. Ran thru it in about 5mins. Once I got home used a a quick towel to clean up corners, quick windex, and some tire shine and it was perfect. For the time and ease, will definitely come again, and try the simple $3 wash to see how it is. read more
