It looked like a nice spot hidden where food is made fresh to go. I ordered the chicken Mushrooms and veggies and a wonton soup. I didn't realize they also advertise their daily specials on a board outside. My dish was very decent and not too salty. I would rather a not so salty dish so I can dose how much spicy sauce I want on it. The food came fairly quickly and I was back with lunch at my hotel in no time. Great service and easy ordering process. I really like the big board with the photos of each dish underlined with price. It makes it easy to choose the meal that you are craving for. Service was fast which is good and not so good. I wanted fried rice and there were several reviews that said the fried rice here was good. Well they have three different kinds: Fried rice, Sezhuan (spicy) fried rice, and X.O. (Fish sauce) Fried rice. I ordered Sezhuan but it really wasn't spicy. It didn't really taste like fried rice either. Every bite I had a water chestnut or mushroom and it wasn't pleasant. Eventually I decided to find and remove them all. The broccoli caught a stray simply because it wasn't flavorful it came to $22 and it was not worth it. It was not exactly nasty, but ot was not a good fried rice. Definitely would not return. The menu is extensive but it seems they throw the same vegetable mix in several dishes and that is a short cut I'm not keen on. read more

The fried rice wasn't very good, tasting like the rice wasn't fully cooked when they fried it. There was no real seasoning, so an improvement was made just by using a soy sauce packet. The beef and broccoli was cooked, but again, there was no seasoning. I ended up using salt and pepper to get any semblance of taste out of it and the beef was slightly chewy as well. It's saying something that the most flavor i had in the meal was the fortune cookie. This was a terrible experience but the food was edible and the place was clean. I've been coming here with my family for years and I've never been disappointed. The staff are very nice and quick to get your food. This is a small little take out operation located near the office I'm working out of in El Segundo. It represents one of many lunch options in the strip mall. I went here the other day with a coworker when I walked in, I was surprised to find such an extensive menu. Lots of different choices here. I opted to get the scallops and spinach that came with some rice. My coworker usually gets the fried rice here. I thought it was super tasty and sautéed well. It went well with the rice and not too greasy. You can see the folks cooking towards the side right in front of you when you come in. This place has solid food and it's super easy to order. We have been ordering food from Express Chinese food for a long time. We slowly stopped ordering during the pandemic and just recently started back up again. We ordered last Friday, 7/8/22 and here's what I have to say: Food: 3 1/2 / 5 We thought the food was decent. I remember when this place opened up, my parents loved their chow mein and my dad would always irder from here for dinner. That was about 20 plus years ago. We ordered chow mein again and it was good but not as good as I remembered. It had too many cabbage and les noodles than before. We ordered: shrimp chow mein, chicken chow mein, salt and pepper pork chop, mongolian beef, XO fried rice (which had a lot of shrimp), egg drop soup. Service: 5/5 The lady who took our orders was nice, friendly and patient as we asked a lot of questions. The one thing she said was whatever you see on the menu board is how the dishes come. They don't offer just the entrée, they all come with rice unless you're ordering noodles but otherwise how the dishes look on the board is how they will be served. Pros: love that the dishes are cook to order. They're fresh and hot and they don't take that long either. If you're in the area and craving for Chinese food, try this place out. The last time I was here was when I took a shot at one of their chow mein plates. It was mediocre at best, if at that. Point is, it wasn't good enough for me to wanna come back. That was a little over five years ago. And then today happened when I had a taste for some kinda fried rice. Did my usual Yelp run and POP! There they were. I realize it's been awhile, so yeah. Why not give them another try? I mean, there should be good reason why they're still around, eh?! Only one customer ahead of me. I went for the XO beef fried rice, "no peas, no carrots, please?" "No problem!" Everything is made to order so I expected a wait. I took the time to kinda get the feel of the place: it hasn't changed much. It's a small almost hole-in-a-wall kinda spot and most customers phone in or take their orders to go. (If you're going solo and decide to dine-in, you might just get lucky and score one of maybe up to ten counter seats available.) I found myself walking outta there in less than 5 minutes. Nice. I wasn't too far so the food retained its heat. (I had to give it a minute cool because first bite equals BURN!) But it was delicious. It was exactly what I had a taste for - packed with lotsa flavor! I was also delighted to find so many pieces of beef at the bottom of it all, seasoned well and cooked tender. FOOD: 5. Quality and quantity. I had leftovers enough for a 2nd meal. SERVICE: 4. Not a lot of interaction, but the fact they didn't forget to leave out peas and carrots (unlike many other places even after telling them!), deserving of a 4. VALUE: 5. More than fair. $11.74 for 2 meals is a pretty darn good bargain. PARKING: Private lot, shared with a lot of other spots. It will be challenging during the lunch rush, so plan accordingly. OVERALL: 4.5. Impressive! I am coming back for sure. Due to the proximity to the airport it gets super busy during lunch hours. I can better Chinese food in the OC. The menu is on the side wall which are 8×10 pictures with names and prices. I ordered the Black Pepper Chicken combo with steam rice, the rice was good but the chicken was breaded, it was bland no flavor and it didn't meet my expectations. Because, of how busy crowded it gets during lunch time it gave me false expectation. I was expecting a better tasting dishes. I visited Express Chinese Food on one a quick weekend getaway to LA, and I purposefully picked a hotel closest to the airport for quick travel in and out. This restaurant was located within walking distance, and I thought I'd check it out for dinner. When I entered, there was a very sweet lady standing at the front awaiting guests to come in. I was very indecisive at this point because of the Hawaiian restaurant next door, and I couldn't decide what I wanted. Once I finally made up my mind, the lady very graciously welcomed me and took my order. I appreciated her patience with me standing there staring at the menu for several minutes... leaving to look at the next door menu... and returning back to stare at it again. Lol. Once my food was ready, I walked back to my hotel and the food was still piping hot and tasty by the time I sat down to eat. TL;DR: the food is maybe +2.5 Stars, the service is -2.5, Net Stars = 0 The whole story: There is no online menu that is current and accurate. There is no delivery service, that says a lot in retrospect. You drive there. There is one (1!) printed menu, tapped to the wall. You read it, go to counter, tell lady what you want; "we don't have that". You take picture of menu, show it to lady who then says that they do have what you just ordered before she said they didn't have it. You order 7 different $17.50 dollar items. Counter lady puts each go container in a plastic bag and knots them and then places the items in another knotted bag. There is no way to check what you ordered against what she bagged. You get home and surprise, what you ordered is not what's in your bag. The items that were combos didn't have fried rice. One item isnt remotely correct. You drive back and counter lady says that they have 2 different versions of incorrect dish and the one she made is what is on menu, having never said that there were 2 different versions and asking which you want during ordering. Counter lady also says that "because I'm not Chinese I wouldn't know about the 2nd version". You request refund, "we don't do that". You ask counter lady to pull up transaction by number on receipt; "I don't know how". Counter lady eventually give you cash refund without tax calculated, because she can't "give you back tax", I guess that's vernacular for "I don't know how to compute the price multiplied by the tax rate". There wasn't one correct item, there was 6 out of 7 incorrect items. If you want to waste a lot of time and get food you didn't order, go here. Small place, good food! Who wouldve thought this tiny little restaurant has such good food offerings. Their menu is pretty extensive and you walk in, one whole wall is dedicated to their vast menu. They've got all kinds of soups, noodles and combinations. The prices are fair as well, ranging from specials that are $5.95 to $10.95. I got to try their thin noodles with beef and their special chicken with brocolli. The chicken with brocolli was $6.75 and came with a salad and a drink. The chow mein was $7.75. Both dishes were huge portions and enough to split into several meals. They were both also very good! The noodle dish was packed with ong, thin noodles and tender pieces of beef. The chicken with brocolli had flavroful pieces of chicken and lots of good sauce. I loved how the sauce of this dish overflowed to the fried rice. It wasn't though the fried rice needed it because this by itself was already a pretty good side dish. I also should add that one should not be fooled by the name express Chinese food. This is not a typical fast food Chinese place, it's actually authentic Chinese food. I came here way past the lunch hour, roughly almost 3pm and the place was jam packed (perhaps another indication that this place is good).
