    The spicy chicken teriyaki
    Steve I.

To the owner of the Spot, please do yourself a favor and put the chicken and onions over the rice and put some steamed veggies or something to go along with your chicken and rice. I got the spicy chicken and rice. The flavor was very good but I had to mix the rice with the chicken and I wish I had some steamed veggies or something instead of this cold salad that doesn't go with this kind of food

Good food and great service. Had the chicken and beef combo with egg rolls and gyoza all hot and all yummy. The dinning area is clean and comfortable. Parking is a tight, but there is street parking also.

Genial delicioso tenía tiempo que no probaba algo rico y un ambiente tranquilo y cervicio genial

The salad that came with my chicken teriyaki combo. There's barely any lettuce. Talk about stingy.

I come here all the time, and generally go through the drive thru on the way home from work. I got home opened the bag and this is the salad that came w my teriyaki combo meal. So disappointed, especially when I tipped them generously. Like what the heck is this? Are we being cheap w iceberg lettuce now. This just looks sad. I also noticed they don't give you as much rice and chicken as they normally do. And the drive thru window guy is kind of rude.

The chicken teriyaki was good! The rice was a bit hard at some spots, could have been due to it being a to-go order. If you're in the area I would recommend if you're craving teriyaki.

Price = ~$15 / service= average / cleanliness = average / vibe = "hole in the wall", historic mom and pop style / parking = enough, not too much, not too little I ordered the chicken teriyaki entree (I cannot do spice so scurrred to try) that costs around $15 which is a good deal in LA, especially, for the portion you get. This is an unassuming, hole in the wall, that gives some nostalgia to the mall Sarku Japan days in high and middle school in NJ. This place is one of those finds that I like where you get inexpensive and good food for a great experience. I Love Teriyaki looks like it has been there since the olden days of LA metro. The vibe you get is one of those classic spots and the food delivers more than as well. The flavor of the teriyaki sauce is a perfect blend of savory and umami and reminds me of a far better Sarku Japan / chicken teriyaki dish. If you are looking for a homemade taste but quality chicken teriyaki with sauce...look no further. In addition, the sauce in the salad just further blends together with the chicken teriyaki and teriyaki sauce in the rice! Be prepared to be extremely full if you plan to finish this dish in one sitting. BONUS POINTS in taking a stroll after this delicious meal! In walking around town, it gives off a kind of old Western vibe (coming from someone who lived and explored Dallas-Fort Worth metro (DFW) a good amount), almost cowboy-like but you are in California so that does not make sense...this part of El Segundo must have kept its history and gives you such a different feeling than the newer, bougie, fun, and other areas in LA metro. Definitely check out this part of Main St. if you are looking for something different in LA metro.

    The blandest fries
    Jessica S.

The fries had absolutely no seasoning at all, not one pinch of salt. They were the blandest fries I've ever had in my life. And the chicken sandwich is literally a sandwich you can make it home. It was horrible. And my teriyaki plate had no sauce at all not even sauce on the side. It was so dry.

Hidden in plain sight, Kagura is a top tier Japanese dining experience. It should be noted that this place is more $$$ than it is $$, and that's a compliment. I dropped $50+ here and it was easy to say it was worth it. I treat myself to the Kagura Gozen chef especial that was limited on how many was served per day and a Orion Okinawa draft beer. Plus, I had leftovers. The chef special came with more-than-a-little of everything. Each dish was unique and delicious. I was treated to a full spread of amazing Japanese cuisine. Sashimi was fresh, katsu was thick and juicy with a lightly breaded crust, eel was flavorful and soft, and the soba noodles were perfect. The restaurant is clean and beautifully laid out. I got vibes of actually being in Japan. If you have a reservation, you can get a private booth. The attractive staff were fantastic. Friendly and fast. Water glass was always full and empty dishes were promptly removed. Last tid bits. Two clean solo bathrooms and street parking.

This time, I noticed this location offers special Gozen set meals that I hadn't seen before. They had a limited Dinner Gozen on the menu with only 10 sets available each night. Of course I had to order it. The set came with a little bit of everything: sushi, sashimi, katsu, eel rice, toro rice, ikura rice, soba, a variety of small cold side dishes, soup, and salad. It was a huge meal and I was honestly surprised I managed to finish the whole thing. I really enjoyed it because you get to try so many different items in one meal. If you're like me and love Japanese food, this is a great way to sample a little bit of everything without having to order a bunch of separate dishes. Everything tasted fresh and the quality was excellent. The restaurant itself isn't very big, so it can get pretty busy. They do take reservations though, which I'd recommend if you're planning to come during dinner. Overall, I really enjoyed this special Gozen meal and would definitely come back. It was a fun experience and a great value for the variety and quality of food you get.

They have a variety of lunch specials, including a sashimi combo meal with 8 pieces, salad, rice, and choice of a side. So good. My sons ordered a sushi lunch combo, tempura kids meal, and some gyoza/soft shell crab -- all delicious. As a treat we also ordered the A5 Wagyu (which they allowed us to order for lunch). It was prepared table side and was just incredible. Our server Kelly was amazing! Loved her great recommendations, and she constantly checked in with us. Her German/Ecuadorian heritage coincided with an upcoming World Cup match, so having her as our server was extremely fortuitous. The restaurant ambiance is simple yet welcoming along the main road. Parking was a little crowded but we found street parking not far away. I love how they have a waitlist and how food came out really quickly. They have their own special soy sauce recipe! We ordered some takeout food on the side and Kelly was on top of it all. Thanks to Kelly, the delicious food and fast service, this place is exceptional and gets high marks for me. It was our first time visiting the Bar and my husband got the Taste of the Bar while I got the 6 piece hand roll fixed menu. The Taste of the Bar had the most unique recipes for their rolls and came with a sake or green tea, which was amazing iced. The Bar is located in a super fun little strip mall towards the back of the mall. It's sort of low key, so it's not really too crowded, hard to find parking, or much of a wait to be seated generally. I loved how friendly and social the staff are as you're being served your hand rolls, it made the experience that much more enjoyable. Service is prompt and you're welcome to order more food at any point during your meal. I loved the 6 piece. It was a more traditional hand roll offering of salmon, spicy tuna, amber jack, blue crab, toro, and scallop. The hand rolls were all so flavorful, but my favorites were the blue crab for its creaminess and the amber jack for the lemon zestiness that paired so well with the protein. The hand roll portions are generous and I was stuffed by the end.

I think the taste is really up there, in terms of feeling satisfied or full afterward is up for debate. I think that the sequencing of the rolls is a bit off-putting, there is no rhyme or order to when you buy the set, it comes based on whatever the chef decides to make! It's not the worst thing but it did get me excited for the next piece which wasn't what I'd expect each time.. oh well. Their pickled ginger was great because the experience felt like an omakase, so I was cleansing my palette with a piece each time. I think their best ones, e.g. HYE, was not as amazing as I thought it should be. It was just your typical baked heavy items to get your savory palette going... It didn't feel as nice as the others. I give this a 4-star as I dinged this place for their price. The ingredients are good with their presentation and the limited seats make it quite exclusive feeling. I just don't like spending $60 during lunch for just a few rolls and not feeling full. I'd still come back for maybe a celebratory thing though! Maybe they get specials or something.

To our surprise, we found this "new" place, The Second Wind. The menu looked enticing and the lunch specials really looked like a great deal. So we decided we needed to come back for lunch and soon. A week later, we returned. Parking is very easy in the free lot for the complex. The interior design is energenic, vivrant with amazing looking Asian inspired pop art. Very cool interior. You can be seated and served or order to go. They have a combination lunch special, two items for $15.99. But, many of those items have an up charge if you add a protien. Either way, in these times, $16 for two items is reasonable. Our server greeted us quickly and let us choose the table of our liking. There are a handful of booths and open tables. My wife ordered the Beef Bulgogi and the Eggplant. I ordered the Chicken Dumplings and the Garlic Noodle (adding chicken for $2 more). The portions are generous. Light eaters might be able to just order one two dish combo and share. The Beef Bulgogi was good but the veggies looked a bit dehydrated. The Eggplant was just okay. The Chicken Dumplings were very tasty but served cool. I ordered them steamed and expected them to be warm at least. The Garlic Noodles with chicken was the biggest disappointment. To me, and my wife, over cooked with crunchy pieces. The chicken was also over cooked, dry and tough. When our server asked how things were, I mentioned it. He didn't seem surprised. I asked if the noodles were always dry and he said yes. He offered to bring more sauce, which he did. I added it but it didn't make the chicken any better. In the end, I left 90% of it. They only have cans of sodas so no refills but they are attached to a tea house that serves a great selection of teas, bobo, etc. There was some good things but more not, overall, we were disappointed. Honestly, I was a bit surprised they didn't offer to replace my dish or offer a small discount. They could see the pile of food I left. Anyway... Hopefully your experience and food preparation will be better than ours and...enjoy!!!
