I was searching auto shops close to home for an oil change and check up. After seeing the high number of great reviews, reading through, comparing to a few others, I gave them a call. I believe I spoke to the owner that everyone else talks about named Paul. He was friendly, gave a great quote and said I could come in without an appointment. I came in on a weekday afternoon and was out in about 20 minutes. For major services that take longer, it's better to make an appointment. I arrived and was greeted immediately. Being female and having limited knowledge, I usually am afraid of being tricked into services or shady places. The reviews were a good filter and are true. The owner was patient, friendly, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I asked for his opinion on synthetic vs. oil, transmission flush, etc. and he explained everything thoroughly and didn't try to upsell me on anything. He even had a few suggestions that helped save me money and keep my car running longer. The prices were reasonable and competitive compared to others. He even called my car's manufacturer to double check the parts needed. He offered to search for cheaper parts/options and I thought that was courteous of him. The overall experience was excellent. I watched them do the oil change and thoroughly check my car, the owner and employees explained and walked me through the process, and told what was still good or needed changing. Paul is the absolute best! Although I love this place, I have to admit that I get nervous before taking my car in because Paul tends to scold me quite a bit when it comes to the well being of my car. It's my fault though, I'm a procrastinator. I'm reminded of the mechanic from Seinfeld lol, but not nearly as bad. Plus, I know he does it because he cares. He actually cares! It's beyond rare to find a mechanic that cares about you and your car. I will not take my car to anyone else because Paul is an excellent mechanic and he is also honest. I recently moved here and needed an oil change, I looked on yelp and luckily for me, express is right around the corner. Just like the fellow yelpers said Paul is a honest guy. I always wondered why after every oil change I would have constant leaking and he took a look and showed me why. I never once had anyone else tell me and take time to show and explain anything. Being a woman I am constantly getting lied to at auto shops and spoken to like I have no understanding of my car. So to find Express Auto was a huge relief. Came here for an oil change. In and out in 20 minutes. No hassling and quick. They close for lunch, make sure to call ahead before you stop by. Chairs can be a bit cleaner in the waiting area. I've been here 4 times, but all for different reasons. The first was an oil change. I called for a quote and decided to go with the first quote since it was pretty reasonable and I worked close by. I was out in about 20 minutes and the bill was the same. Second visit was when I heard a rattle from my tires. It turns out when I had all 4 tires replaced at a tire shop, one of the workers must have knocked over a clip that held the brake pads and was loose rattling against the rims. Only charged $10 to remove tire, check if clip was broken, reinstall the clip, and put tire back on. I had to wait a hour though since I got there around 12 and that was their lunch hour until 1. They finished in 10 minutes though off their lunch break. 3rd time was when I added too much oil to my engine. It was over the full limit on the dipstick. I researched online and found out adding too much oil can cause problems. Needless to say I was a little worried and took it in. Paul looked at the dipstick and said it was fine since it was only a quarter over. He didn't recommend draining some oil but he would do it if it made me feel better. This was very honest since it would take away business from him. Fourth time was today when my check engine light came on. Came in for a diagnostic and he told me it was catalytic converters. He told me it was very expensive job and recommended other solutions to see if the lights would go away. One option was to change the oil and add oil treatment which only coated about $45 versus a 4 figure job. He told me to come back after the oil change if the light came back on again. I'm all about supporting neighborhood business but even if I wasn't in the neighborhood, I'd still being be coming to Paul. Possibly the most unbearably honest guy you'll meet, he kind of turns the mechanic stereotype on it's head and then squishes it for good measure. I don't know anything about cars, I reply on people it, but Paul is always patient about explaining things to me and giving recommendations about fixes... sometimes talking me out of very expensive ones for just as good but cheaper ones. Honestly, that threw me the first time he did that. He'll never recommend something he won't do on his own car and won't push for something that isn't needed. Heck, he'll probably tell you to put off certain things so you're not spending a load of money all the time. (Example: the stupid car manual/bible recommends 5K oil change to my 2012 car; he told me 7K is fine since most luxury cars today are built for that and 5K oil change is just a waste if you're not doing long hauls - which I'm not and he knew it.) They're so good about doing quick checks when you come for your oil change that you never really have to worry about extremely big problems popping out of nowhere. Organized, clean (or as clean as you can get working with motor oil), efficient, this place is always busy and moving. They are diligent about keeping their records straight on your car, always updating and keeping notes on recommendations or observations when you come in. (I totally would have forgotten about a spark plug problem if Paul hadn't made a note of it.) Office is literally a box with the majority of the lot allocated for work, as it should be. Be prepare to walk away and come back when they're done, and they're good about calling you so you're not there just shooting the breeze. I would totally recommend this place to everyone except you all might actually come and then the line will be that much longer... (Wait, why am I writing this again?) As a side note, Tops Jr. is next door. They've got great food; go wait for your car there. read more

As a person who tried many auto reoair shops before, I have to tell you without any doubt that Paul is the most honest mechanic I have ever met!!! He will never fix one thing and charge you for something else, taking advantage of your lack of knowledge, like 90% of mechanics out there do it routinely. Paul is honest, reliable and excellent in diagnosing any problem. Fixed a perplexing problem with our 89 Toy Van that 2 other mechanics AND the Toy dealer could not fix. Our van has not had that problem since, something to do with adding a bypass for the starter solenoid. Paul is a genius. Fair prices fast service. This is my new go to auto shop. They're fast and efficient and I'm so glad I decided to call here for a quote after seeing all the good reviews on Yelp. Originally, I had planned to go the Pep boys for the labor for a broken side view mirror, who was charging me $100. That was the cheapest I could find but when I looked up more shops, just in case, I had to call and ask. $40. I saved 60 bucks coming here and they did good work, very quickly. I moved out of the area, but its still worthwhile to bing it to Paul for non basic repairs, to get honest opinion. Finally a mechanic I can trust. I'm a single woman and have been bamboozled by mechanics before so am now very skeptical. My test now is to go in for a check-up and see what they say. This repair shop is topnotch!! My car suddenly died on me. Good thing I have AAA. They were able to check and recommend that I change my alternator. Maybe that's why I was hearing a wheezing sound (I thought my car suddenly became a sports car) Anyway, Paul from this repair shop gave me a very very reasonable deal. I brought my car in to have the brakes done when I took it home as I drove out of there I noticed a noise it's a spitting noise on my brakes him I brought it to their attention and the owner absolutely found no solution to it he said what did I want him to do I told him I wanted him to check my brakes and he said it is not the brakes it's my tires I had taken it to Goudy Honda dealership and they told me it was the brakes I told the owner from auto express and he said I am a mechanic I know it's not the brakes he refused to check the brakes.
