The sad news is that the corporate customer service hotline is more helpful than Vicki, the store manager. One of my employees was sent back after presenting his shoe voucher. I called Vicki, who merely stated that she was unable to see what was the problem with my account and did not offer to help solve the problem. I had to pull teeth to get the corporate customer service number and our account number from her-- she did not do anything to help me even after I stated, "Help me get you a sale-- I have three more employees who want to come in and purchase." Calling customer service took only a few minutes-- they resolved my issue and admitted to me that my employee was turned away due to an oversight on Vicki's part. Five stars for customer service, one star for Vicki's minimal customer service efforts. I have never been talked to this way by a store manager. I worked in a outdoor retail store for over 10 years and I worked in a few different locations at that company none of my store managers have ever treated a customer the way that I was treated today. Purchased a pair of shoes took them home, changed my mind and returned them. while returning saw another pair of shoes bought them tried them on again when I got home hurt my feet. The style shoe just wasn't working for my feet. went back to return the shoes was told was not able to return them because you're only allowed one return I asked where it is documented that you're only allowed one return the manager could not produce any such documentation or show me anywhere where it says that. I think it's pretty ridiculous that you can't return another pair of shoes. If that is their policy, they need to post it so that people know. I bought a pair of work boots a couple years ago at Red Wing. In those 2 years I've worn them maybe 48 hours total. So, I was surprised last week when I put them on and noticed both heels were literally falling apart, disintegrating into a black rubber powder. I took them back and showed the clerk, and explained to him that I keep them in my locker at work and only use them about 30 minutes once every 2 weeks to do a specific job. He goes to his supervisor and comes back to tell me that it's my fault the shoes fell apart, because I wasn't wearing them enough, and I shouldn't keep them in my locker. This young man had product knowledge, a sense of humor and was a damn delight compared to what I have come to expect in customer service these days. I love the shoes and have spent thousands on them but being a long time customer never seems to matter, management is never able to work with you. I bought a pair of Redwings about a year ago, but 6 months later the left boot developed an obnoxious squeak every time I took a step. Nothing would stop it, I tried new soles, baby/talcum powder and washed/reconditioned the boots. I took the boot in and they replaced them immediately, without question. HOWEVER, it's been another 6 months with the new boots, and once again the left boot has developed an obnoxious squeak. I took the boots in, and nobody seemed surprised by complaint. This time I was told "there is nothing we can do because of how unlikely this is". SURE... Anyways, I've already ordered a pair of Danners and recommend you do the same. read more

Sad to say that this will be the last purchase of Redwing Boots that I make. I purchased a pair of boots in this store a week ago. Close to 200.00 for the boots. They are the right size, I have another pair similar to them with no issues. I drove 4 hours to where my job site was last week, I came into the office, got settled and put on my new boots. Within 15-20 minutes of walking around the office and the hall, I started feeling a slight ride in the heel of one of my boots. It was enough to actually bruise my heel in that short of a period of time. I immediately called the red wing store in the area and they do not stock any women's boots at all, so I had to go to Boot Barn and buy another pair of boots and then buy a heel cushion to be able to finish out the rest of my work week. Today, I came back on the 4 hour drive and tried to return the boots to the store. It was very clear that both the clerk and the store manager Vicki did not believe that I had an issue with the boots. They said they could not feel the rise etc. This was determined by both Viki and the store clerk putting their hands in the boots and pressing. I suggested they walk in the boots for 15 minutes and tell me how their right heel felt. I stated that I couldn't feel the issue with my hand either or else I obviously would not have worn them but the pressure is something that happened in that short 15-20 minute period of time. I was told that they would not return the boots nor do anything for me because they have to explain to their district manager about a defect and there was not a defect. I asked to speak to that manager and the store manager REFUSED to allow me to speak to him/her. I asked again and was refused. I was the offered to try a pair of insoles to fix the problem. Well, why would I need a pair of insoles to fix the problem if there was not a problem like the store was trying to tell me? I wanted to return the boot's and was told no, they would 'find another pair that might work' - well, no, I am sorry but that is not going to work for me because I already had to buy a second pair of boots because this pair is defective! I had to step outside and call customer service to get help with this and when I told the store manager that I would no longer be shopping there, she said 'that's ok'. Apparently Customer Service is not part of the job description when you work in retail or are a store MANAGER! read more

First, I went to Red Wing Shoe website and selected five safety toe boots that I liked. I gave the list to the young man behind the counter. He said they had one of the five boots in stock. He asked do you want to see it? I said yes. He asked are you sure? I said yes,. He asked me to place a pair of gloves on. He didn't ask me to have a seat, He asked me 2 more times if I was sure I wanted to see the boots. At that point, I got frustrated by the process and left. I have been buying the same Red Wing model (1105) and size pull on boot for about 30 years from this store. This time when I went to buy them, I found they don't keep them in inventory anymore and have to order them. When they finally arrived they felt tight in width and when I told the sales person this they said, "just wear it for a while, it will become comfortable." Well they didn't break in and when I took them back the store said they'd mechanically stretch them. I tried the boots again after the stretching and they still felt tight and wouldn't break in. I went through the stretch and try routine again with the same result. At this point I figured the boots were manufactured wrong and I would never get them to fit correctly, so I asked for a refund. The store manager said I had exceeded their 30 day return policy and refused to refund my money. Now I'm stuck with a $250 pair of boots that are useless to me. I have been going to this store for 40 years to buy all my work and recreational boots. Now I'm done with them. I went across the street to Becks Shoes and they sold me a virtually identical boot for much less money. They have a high tech machine to measure your foot and they got the fit perfect for me the first time, no break in required! We have been getting work boots at this store for years...generally around $250 a pair minimum. They are worth every penny. We have never had an issue until now....Bought a paid in July, and right after the seam in one of the tongues unraveled, we brought them back (and bought another pair of boots for $250) to be repaired. The lady I spoke with was completely uninformed and decided that was her best course of action...act stupid. She couldnt see what needed stitching and was confused...and rather then answer or get someone who knew more...she just expanded her stupidity. We finally went to the store after multiple phone calls that lead no where, to find that the boots had been repaired and were sitting there waiting to be picked up. It nearly a half hour for the employees to find them even though I kept saying..."there they are...see them...right there". The comfort and durability of the particular work boot I wear (2412) is amazing. The customer service matches the boot. Jeremy Pearson and Vickilynn Pearson, Jeremy Claimed to be a Manager when I was in store trying to exchange a pair of boots that were ripping my skin on my shin, he told me that it's not a manufacture defect on the shoe when the Stitching is all messed up and cutting my shin. Jeremy went to the back and grabbed another pair to compare the same issue and the other shoe didn't have the stitching problem. He said it feels the same to him so he won't exchange it. Jeremy told me to come back on Monday to talk to the manager, but he said he was the manager? so here I am on Monday going in and talking to the "manager" Jeremy and Vickilynn are both unprofessional and HORRIBLE managers. They need to be trained better on talking to customers. Seems like the 2 are son and mommy and back each other up. They should have helped a long time customer with the pair of boots he had, they have defiantly lost a customer for good and I'll be telling all friends and family not to go here.
