Nice enough people, but subpar for the work done. I went to Zach with a Groupon in early June and asked for chunky highlights. I wanted the base dyed a dark blonde with light highlights - specifically said that I wanted contrast, and showed him a picture. Instead I got all over light color - no discernible highlights whatsoever. I wound up just living with it because we were headed out of town for 3 weeks and didn't have time for another appointment to correct it. Additionally, it didn't look bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. My daughter had a balayage (not with a Groupon) done a few days after mine - not sure the name of the stylist. She wanted red on the ends, and did indeed get a bright red on the ends. Only problem is that 4 weeks or so later, it's a light pink on the ends. That much of the color bled and faded in 4 weeks. She doesn't really care, and it's not that it looks bad, again, it's just not what she wanted, and she's had it done before at other salons (in the beginning of the summer as well) and the color didn't bleed or fade nearly as much. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

I switched from a certain place down the street to here for my haircuts and I'll never go back. They are comparably priced (pretty cheap) and this place takes appointments whereas the other one does not. It's a no-brainer. I've been happy pretty happy with my hair every time I go here. So, my hair hasn't been touched since a awful experience back in September when TWELVE INCHES of hair was chopped off! 12, friends, and was at a salon to be left unnamed. Yes you all read that right- anyway, it's just hair some say, no it's my security blanket. Well, I came across this STELLAR groupon deal for full highlights/treatment for $89 dollars, I know right?!? You're probably already thinking, what kind of joke is this? No listen- Stina guys, the girl's a effing magician. I told her what I was thinking I wanted for color; and how I wanted my cut and she goes "have a picture you want to show me?" Uh yes please! Pulled up Pinterest (because, let's face it, basically best thing ever, c'mon now admit it!) And she worked magic. My hair is fully highlighted and blonde- not like cheap blonde no, it's like whoa, this girl loves her job, knows what the F to do and just does it. Trust her guys, she's a REAL professional. Okay, then, of course you can't book an appt for just highlights when you're hair hasn't been cut in months and let's just say, I'm in LOVE- I have a LOT of hair, and it's thick, she did just what I pictured in my mind, and showed her, and it turned out A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I really like going to this salon. I started going to Exsolance from a referall several years ago and Tony did my hair and he was awesome! He also did my hair for my wedding were I had gorgeous extensions and my hair was perfectly died and colored. I had to move to Oak Park at one point and due to the treck, I tried to find a salon closer. I tried like 5 places and none were nearly as good. I finally decided it was worth the commute! Now I actually go to Thomas and he is also phenomenal! I just got my hair done this past weekend and the blonde highlights are amazing! read more

I have been going to Exsalonce for about 3 years or more. I go about every 4 to 5 weeks. I drive all the way from Orland Park which is about 45 minutes to an 1 hour with no traffic. Tony does an excellent job with my color and highlights. It always comes out great. I have very thick & long hair. I always ask if gets tired from blow drying my hair, I know I do. He never complains. Not only does he do a great job, but he is quick. I never have to wait like I did in most other salons. Everyone their is always nice and friendly. Tony has been doing my hair for about 15 years or so. He's talented and can look at your face and come up with the most flattering way to cut your hair and still honor what you asked him to do. He's seen me through so many lengths and colors and I have always gotten compliments on my color. Also, he's up to date on the latest and the greatest in hair and products. He appreciates his clients and has worked VERY hard to have his own salon too. (I first went to him at Basics on Southport). If you ever have any issue with anything about your experience, tell him, he'll make it up to you. (It won't be a refund or anything but he'll do whatever else is necessary). Talk about a full service salon! I was scheduled for an updo and a makeup session for a wedding I was attending. Tony did a beautiful job on my hair, and Alexis paid a lot of attention to detail, I was greatful she didn't rush and send me on my way, I was very happy the way it turned out. About an hour later after I got home, my hairdo wasn't as perky as it was when I left (thanks to Chicago's wonderful weather), but they said to come on in and they would fix it, and sure enough, it stayed the whole night. I had such a great visit. I was able to walk in and book an appointment for a facial the same day. The ladies at the front desk were super friendly and quite accommodating, even as they seemed to be training other staff. The spa itself, was very clean. Carolyn, the woman who performed the facial, did a great job. She was professional, competent, and explained everything she was doing. FYI.. READ THEIR WEBSITE UNDER ETIQUETTE BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY SERVICES I have long, mixed silver/white hair. I asked for possibly a toner to remove the yellow hue from my silver/white. I specifically said I wanted to keep the white, just remove the yellowish tint, like he did many times before. He told me he wanted to use a new product that he liked better, and since I've always trusted his judgment, I agreed. I don't even know if it was a toner or permanent color. What I do know is all of my gorgeous silver/white is now gone and replaced with ashy brown. I could just cry. It took me 3 years to grow it out. Now its gone! And, charged top dollar for it! I tried to live with it for awhile, thinking it was the light, etc. until I finally decided to call and see what could be done, was promised a call back from Tony by end of day. No call, so I called again the next day, same promise, no call, I called the next morning, and was told it's past the 7 day correction policy, which I was unaware of, and nothing could be done to correct it. I should of read the website. Is it my obligation to read the website before any service is performed? I never look at the website, I haven't had a need to. I have the number in my phone, and I call to make appt. I have been a very loyal customer for over 5 years, recommended friends, spent thousands of dollars, and I'm very disappointed that they are not making my complaint "right", or least ask me to stop in to take a look, or without even as much as a personal call from Tony, he asked someone else to call me. I wrote an email to Tony, no response. I am not the type of person to write a bad review, as I was always taught.."if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". He can take whatever damage I've done (and I do a lot) and he truly "saves" me and turns me back to feeling stunning. Jess is great! I've been going to her for years and I've never had a bad experience with her. They do sell products there, but they are not pushy about them. My hair has a hard time holding a curl, but Jess taught me how to curl it. I've tried other hair sprays, but the Tony Odisho hair spray is the only one I have found that actually keeps a curl in my hair. This is by far the best hair salon I've used. read more

I had such an excellent experience with Tony and his team at Exsalonce. I had partial tape extensions put in my hair for my wedding because though I had the length, I wanted a full beautiful look and my hair is on the finer side. I was nervous, but went for it. First in the consultation, instead of 15 minutes Tony spent almost 30 with me. First discussing my extensions, which type I should get, care for them etc, but then after he took the time to consulate on my up do for my wedding in Northern WI. He was not even doing my hair but spent some time just playing around and giving ideas. Such wonderful customer service. My actual appointment took about an hour. The extensions themselves looked so real and beautiful. They matched my hair perfectly and no one could tell that I had them, except for the fact that everyone kept telling me how awesome my hair looked. Last but not least, On the day that he put my extensions in, I got a trim as well and then he curled my hair exactly how I wanted it for my wedding. He did not have to do that, but he went the extra mile, because he knew I was nervous about my up do. My hair had never looked so beautiful. On the day of my wedding - my hair was long and full and I have loved every moment of having them in. Thank you, Tony. Miracle workers! I received a horrible hair cut from ANOTHER salon. Leaving my hair in short lengths in places and long in others. Tomas added extensions to my hair and made it look absolutely perfect. The hair blends well and no one even knows it isn't my hair. Now I can't imagine not having them! Where do I begin... I had a consultation with Tony a week prior to my extension appointment and everything seemed normal. I was super excited for my official appointment and drove in over an hour and half of traffic. When I got there they began removing my extensions. Tony wanted to save time so there were three different people removing them at once. They were literally ripping out my actual hair so I asked them to please be more careful and take their time. After that was done and half of my own hair was on their floor Tony began to show me some hair colors. There were a few that i had liked and others that I did not. If you're a blonde then you know what I'm talking about. Tony had stepped away for a minute and then returned telling me that he just didn't have good feelings and asked me to leave his salon. I was literally heart broken. I am a business owner and if I ever treated a client like that I would be so ashamed of myself. Do not go to this salon. Now that I think back to my consultation there wasn't anyone in there getting their hair done and when I went in for my appointment there was also no one in there either. Find another salon. Tony is very unprofessional and very rude. I am absolutely appalled and disappointed by his behavior. read more

Horrible experience. Threatened to send claims after me for THEIR mistake! Extremely rude and unprofessional owner and managers. Last year my husband purchased me a package of 6 massages and I purchased him a package of 3. I went into Exsalonce about 3 months ago to schedule all of the remaining massages for each of us in person. The woman at the front desk used their system to book each remaining massage from the package (taking into account the one or two I had used a while back - I assumed their system could keep track and therefore I wasn't keeping track myself). I put all the agreed upon appointments in my calendar and we proceeded to show up on time and tip for every massage. After each appointment I would check out and we would review the remaining amount of massages left in the package. For the last massage nothing was different, I showed up, checked in, tipped and checked out. The associate confirmed I was all set and didn't owe anything because again, it was part of my package. Then, three hours later, I received a phone call from the manager saying they messed up and asked me to pay for the massage because I had actually used up all of the massages from the package and this was an additional one. I said that if they had told me at any point before the appointment (like when I checked in) that this was an extra massage outside of my package, then I would have cancelled the appointment. After refusing to pay because this misunderstanding wasn't my fault, the manager was extremely rude and told me I should feel guilty that their employee wasn't going to get paid for the service she provided. The conversation went no where and came to no conclusion. Then out of no where two weeks later I received a text from Exsalonce saying that if I didn't pay the full amount of a single massage, $95, then they were going to involve their legal team and send claims after me. When my husband called today to speak with the owner to sort things out, the owner had the exact same rude tone and comments as the manager did. He eventually hung up on my husband!! My husband had to call back to ask what the final verdict was because in the end we didn't want claims to come after me, ruin my credit, and have a law suit filed, all over a mistake that THEIR employees made. The owner wouldn't get back on the phone with my husband and we ended up just paying so we could be done with this. Needless to say, I have never been treated this poorly by a business or business owner. It was extremely unprofessional and I cannot believe they would treat their honest and loyal customers this way (I had been getting my hair cut there for the last two years!). Unfortunately for the actual service providers that work for Exsalonce, I would suggest that you think twice before bringing your business here. Heaven forbid there is a mistake and you get sued. read more

I have been there for 3 haircuts now and plan to continue. My stylist does a nice job. Definitely listens to what I want. I have tried 2 stylists since going to the salon. Appointment scheduling has been extremely easy and the staff is very efficient during my appointments. They have nice perks such as discounts on services which makes it appealing for me to try something new. I am planing a spa massage next and can't wait! What would make me even happier with my salon experience would maybe a bit more of a pampered touch during my hair services. A little scalp or neck/shoulder massage really makes a service become a more of treat for me. read more

I have been going to Natalie for over 2 years and haven't thought once about changing my stylist. Not only is she a great stylist but she's a great person so why would I even think about going to anyone else, she's amazing!!! If God Himself were a masseur, His massage still wouldn't be as heavenly as Brandon's. This man made a new woman out of me in a (much too short) 90 minutes. He is kind, attentive and soothing. I went in for a Swedish massage, but after spending some time on my back, he recommended some deep tissue work, which he performed immediately, and made a world of difference. He doesn't perform "cookie-cutter" massages, but rather tunes into what each individual's needs are, and works from there. He's very knowledgable and well informed about the human anatomy and hits all the pressure points just right. He is, easily, one of the best masseur's I've ever had and I will certainly be seeing him again. They've got a killer deal coming up for Black Friday too (the day after Thanksgiving), so take advantage of it!!! read more

SO after a bad hair cut at another salon I did my research and took the plunge to get extensions. I went to Exsalonce after readi ng the many great reviews here on yelp. I had my consultation and was pleased with what i heard. I made plans and came in the very next day for my extensions. honestly, I love them. They are defintely worth the price i paid. It has only been one day and not even 24 hours yet but I am incredibly happy. My only complaint is that my stylist is young and not very professional. She seemed ery inexperienced and didnt know proper terminology/vocabulary for a stylist. She used profanity several times whe talking to me and seemed unhappy at the salon as she was inquiring about a waitressing job at the place I bartend. She also didnt listen to what I wanted in terms of length for my extensions. I wanted to go a little shorter, right above or at my boosom line. The stylist insisted that i stay with them being longer "shit you are paying good money for the hair, you should keep it long and get what youre paying for". So even after I told her, my etensions ended up long, below my boosom and about 2-3 inches longer than I wanted. ( I will probably end up going to a different salon next week to have it cut the way i wanted). At the end, the stylist had the balls to say to me " im not charging you for the cut". Sheesh. A) you didnt listen to me on the length and B) its a poor quality cut and not layered much at all!! On a $1000 purchase I felt bad tipping less than 10%. Tony the owner was great and right there consulting on my hair all during the 3 hour process. Having him there put me at ease. I will be going back to the salon only because the owner is great . I will most definitely be asking for a different stylist though. My stylist is the only reason I wont give this salon 5 stars. read more
