Extra Care Movers made our logistically complicated move a breeze and, I might almost say, fun?! From my first phone call with James to the expert work of Sergio, Rob, and Javier on moving day, I was impressed with their entire operation. The team was prompt, efficient, organized, and ridiculously strong -- evidenced by carrying a heavy bed frame down four flights of stairs, then up three flights of stairs (!) because it did not fit in the elevators. They also worked great together, which kept us all upbeat. We finished moving two apartments into one apartment in about six hours -- all apartments were on high floors -- and made it through the day with zero damage or lost items. I was certain this was going to be the last move that my nine-year-old dresser from IKEA would survive, but she made it, thanks to the care and skill of this team. Amazing! Scheduling and payment was fair and transparent. We also took advantage of packing services the night before the move, which was also reasonably priced and helped expedite the process on moving day. I hired the ECM in June when I'd found out suddenly I had to move after 31 years at the same place! Needles to say I checked reviews and sent out a Yelp request for movers. ECM wrote and after a talk with the owner, I hired them for the next month. July 10th came along and a great crew of 3 strong, young, professional men showed up. From the moment that Jay introduced himself and explained more about the service, they were on the project (wrapping things I'd forgotten, disassembling furniture, asking good questions about how things were to be handled, etc.). Jovial and careful with my things, after about 8 hours, all my things were moved and I was happy they were able to do it even on THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR! We settled up the bill and I was able to pay by Apple Pay. I was so glad I had hired them (the cost was totally worth it and a good value for the money, especially as it saved my old back and having to get friends to help as it was on a week day), so that it actually came in at a price I had planned on. They took a chunk out of our wall. They hooked up our washing machine incorrectly (causing us to wash our delicate laundry in hot water, instead of cold). They broke our dryer vent hose. Most of the items we asked to be taken upstairs were left in the garage. The entire team smokes, smells awfully of cigarettes, and will smoke in front of and behind your house throughout the packing and moving process. If you're sensitive to cigarettes this is not the moving company to hire. Our home security systems caught them leaving cigarette butts on the ground in front of both homes. I was under the impression that when James said he'd bring a 26' truck, that a 26' truck was a professional's assessment of what we needed based on the size of our home, 1500 sq ft, three bedroom. Turns out, they have a single truck, so the 26' truck isn't a recommendation based on your needs, it's what they have and that's it. Only about 70% of our belongings were moved after $4,750 was paid to the team. I had to flag the truck down as they were leaving, to bring to their attention they'd forgotten the two boxes of the contents of our refrigerator. Had I not noticed, it all would have spoiled. Their solution to leaving a ton of our stuff behind was to charge us the base rate all over again the next day, which we declined. James yelled at me, through his cigarette, "I never said it would all fit!" And that's true, he didn't, so don't assume yours will either. You, like us, may end up getting a Uhaul yourself after having paid five grand to not have to get a Uhaul. I will say that three of the five guys were nice enough and they didn't break our expensive refrigerator with glass exterior walls. EDIT: James decided to harass me via text about this review after I posted it. No apology. What a pain. This is the worst business I've dealt with in years. read more

Jayvion, Brandon, and Taylor were very friendly, professional, and efficient. They were upfront about what was out of their wheelhouse, no plumbing or electrical work, which was fine with us. They arrived when they said they would and did an amazing job at disassembling and wrapping our furniture! I contacted Extra Care Movers July 11th for help July 14th moving my 4 bedroom house into a pod. I had booked two pods in preparation for this. They provided 3 movers for 3 hours min: Will, Pat, and Emil. The service I received was absolutely exceptional and when I move again, I will absolutely be using Extra Care Movers! I give this company my full recommendation. Below are more details as to why: Booking: Looking for movers last minute was extremely stressful, but extra care promptly and clearly communicated their availability. Texting James prior to the move was easy and reliable. Payment details were very clear and transparent. Move-Day: The arrival window was 9:15-9:30. They arrived around 9:30, took and inventory and started the project at 9:45. I was worried about the movers being able to work in the heat, but oh my gosh they did not let it slow them down! Will, Pat, and Emil were the most efficient, thoughtful and conscientious movers I have ever worked with. They immediately pointed out items that would need more moving blankets/rope to keep them protected (for the record, they are full service and bring moving blankets/rope, but if you're moving something into storage you need to provide your own) and took great care to wrap my furniture. I did not expect them to exhibit such concern for my items, and I was so grateful they did. They also pointed out clanking in boxes marked fragile and asked if I wanted to repack them prior to loading due to risk of breakage. I really appreciated their thoughtfulness. Additionally, Emil, Pat, and Will's were so efficient, they packed my belongings into ONE POD. I have a TON of stuff and was convinced nothing less than two 16' pods would do the job, but they fit 98% of my things into ONE POD!! The tetris they had to do to achieve this was masterful. My items were so efficiently packed, there was no potential for jostling. Finally, they were able to complete this phenomenal work all within 3 hours in the heat of the day! Simply amazing! Where do I start? We had two pieces of furniture to move into and out of our new house that were heavy and awkward. I called James today around noon and by 8 this evening he and his helper were here.
