When asked owner to fix one sloppily painted patched section, was told it was priced to sell, so if I wanted it done right, I would pay his painter for his time to fix. WTF. Worst company you could ever choose to do business with! They were hired to paint and re seal a deck after the hail storm. Two outdoor garage lights were not covered and now full of stain. Had a beautiful natural stain deck and the owner decided to put on a stain with a toner, which basically looks like paint. My wife gave him the EXACT product we've used over the years. He told my wife, since I was out of town, it would be red cedar, just a little thicker. It's fricken orange!! His solution was to put on a darker paint, not remove his screw up. He sent a crew on Sat morning with a chemical stripper. They applied it, didn't wait for it to work, and attempted to power wash it off. Didn't work! He hasn't returned any phone calls in the last 6 hours and his crew just up and left. Jim didn't even show up to supervise the work. His crew couldn't even read the directions on the chemical he gave them. They also didn't use the Exact rainbow stain for the swingset, he changed from red cedar to a crap brown! Not to mention they broke an outdoor plant, threw extra cedar shingles on my rose bush, never put down drop cloths and put the patio furniture all over the yard. Avoid at all costs. He claims the company has been in business 20+ years, but he bought the company not long ago from the original owner Joe. His Corp was also involuntarily dissolved last year. Tried blaming it on my wife and never once apologized. The pictures don't lie. You can see from the picture I was able to remove the stain from the step. His "professionals" could not remove the stain. Jim also said "I don't work for you, I work for Bobby" and hung up the phone. Never bothered to ring the door bell or talk to me face to face about the problems or issues. Now trying to backpeddle after a truthful review. By the way, Professional painter watching everything transpire next door, said that is not the proper way to use a stripper. Not the first time they've screwed up a deck. read more

Had been happy with Jim and his communication about his delayed schedule. Signed a contract at end of May 2021 and he finally came to start exterior painting and deck staining last Fri. 8/27/21. His employee supposedly power washed the exterior and the deck. The contract read "power wash entire home". He only did 1st floor and there were cobwebs still on surfaces to be painted. Texted Jim and asked him to come out on Mon to view surfaces before employee painted and stained. Also wanted to confirm that they might not be able to work on Mon because there were still wet deck boards from Sun rain. Jim's response was "what do you expect for that amt of money" and "it's best if we pass on this job". That's all after we waited 3 months. in addition, employee knocked large planter off of deck wall, never picked it up and never told me. read more

We hired Extra Mile to paint our house (cedar siding) and garage doors, etc. They did an excellent job. Lots of attention to detail. Very clean. Very professional. Would not hesitate to hire them again. We reviewed several companies and the quote range was ridiculous. Please save yourself some time and call them for a quote. VERY fair quote and we are extremely happy. Our neighbors have also commented on how nice our house looks. I was referred to extra mile by another painter. While the owner seemed professional and accommodating, when there was a problem, he refused to stand by his work. Our deck was painted with an oil base stain the morning after a rain. It blistered within hours. It's still tacky 2 months later, and, as a result, dirt from rain, environment, has turned the deck black. It cannot be pressure washed, as the dirt is embedded. Things go wrong sometimes. It's so disappointing to know that a company will not remedy the situation or admit their fault. The deck was wet and the stain was applied too thick. I would not recommend them to paint a mailbox. I have had the deck painted (by another company) every two years for 22 yrs, always in late Soring, early summer. This was painted July 6th. It rained the evening of July 5th. I have documentation of it. That is the reason, not a " low deck", which it is NOT. Additionally, the idea that he didn't want to do deck until later in the season is pure fiction, and I have the text chain to prove it. read more

Jim just finished the exterior of my house. He painted and smeared caulk everywhere over bare wet wood on a rainy days instead of replace rotten wood or patch as discussed. In a couple areas they used filler/patch but didn't sand...just painted right over it. They also mixed wet caulk and paint in order to patch and trim the windows. We have used Extra Mile long before Jim was involved, over 10 plus years . We've spent over $25,000.00 on 5 different jobs with no problems. When we had a conversation over it, Jim told me that he's not good at it , and don't even have tools to work on windows or trim. Although his contract and emails state that this is all included. Talk about a hidden jewel. These guys are like a best kept secret. You need to go beyond the minimal reviews here and get to the core of what makes a great painting company. We were referred to Jim and Extra Mile Painting from another contractor we had known for years. That specific contractor does not make referrals but in this case he made an exception and shared with us that they were really good. We are so glad he referred us to Extra Mile Painting and Jim the owner. The "Extra Mile" part of the name of the company comes through in what they do. First of all, we have about a 6K square foot home. We really wanted someone with extensive local experience and knowledge to paint the house. Especially, on a large exterior where you have different types of wood and colors in a custom home. Jim manages multiple crews. Hector led our team and it was evident that his many years of experience show in the quality of the work performed. The key to a phenomenal finished product in a paint job is in the preparation work that has to be done first. Unlike some others, their work included a complete power wash of the exterior the week earlier. But the extra mile was most evident in the prep work of the cedar and plank boards. Everything was given a once over from calking knot holes and infinite cracks in the wood to repositioning plank boards that came loose over the years. A number of neighbors commented to us on what a thorough and complete job they were doing. In the end, the results were beautiful! Jim made sure to communicate well through the process. He made suggestions and adjustments along the way to accommodate us for a few changes that we made. To Jim's credit, he has held on to his quality crews for years now. We found them to be very friendly and completely trustworthy good people. We would recommend them highly and plan to use them for inside painting when we are ready. Extra mile to say the least. I had them come and paint my home and was very disappointed. They applied two coats and the old paint still bleed through and Jim told me that's all they could do. The crown molding and woodwork still had tape on and they painting over it and left it. I would not recommend this company.
