Bernadette is the manager here, she was so nice to me and my husband every time we come by she always greets us and so helpful! One time we lost our keys to our storage and she was so nice about helping us out. She was able to cut the lock and open the unit. it was so hard to do I felt so bad but she was so patient about it the whole time. Thank you so much for helping us out Bernadette! This is a overdue review on this storage location. I made a online reservation and was called the following morning to reconfirm my unit. I thought that was great customer service! Bernadette was the lady that helped me and she was great!!!! She informed me that the unit was no big enough for my sons boxes. Thank goodness she advice me that! She gave us all the information we needed to know about the storage unit! It was so nice to see such a clean and organized location! Agree with the other review. Total bait and switch predatory business practices. After a few months they massively upped the rent rate, probably banking on the inconvenience of moving everything out of the unit would be too much of a hassle. Well, I'm fine with a little discomfort if it means taking my business elsewhere. And a very quick internet search provided many alternatives for the same amount of space that were cheaper. I also saw the businesses response to the other review that said as much something about "prices not being guaranteed indefinitely" or some such weak sauce reply. That goes without saying a price won't stay the same forever, but a 60% increase after a few months is insane. Having dealt with other storage companies in the past, this is not industry standard behavior in my experience. Do yourself a huge favor (your wallet or your back when you inevitably have to move your stuff again) and go with nearly anyone else. read more

I think this is my 3rd time putting some stuff in storage and it's always with this company. I come back to them cause they do a great job. The manager called Bernadette here is the RUDEST person I have ever dealt with. Not only did she speak to me in an abrupt, condescending way, she also put the phone down on me when I asked her for her superiors name. Because of her offensive, unprofessional attitude, extra space storage almost lost a long term customer but the lovely, polite, and compassionate lady called liza in customer services saved the day and helped me relocate to another location . The manager at this location needs to be fired. All it takes is one bad egg to give the company a bad reputation. I read that another Yelper had the same problem as me when dealing with this manager. I have friends that have used this storage facility. I did the research for places in my town and they had the best prices. I went to view it first and Justin was helpful and friendly. He explained everything and showed me a few units. He didn't complain when I asked to take the stairs because I'm avoiding elevators due to the virus. Higher level manager called me to apologize after my access had been denied. He understood that my plans had been pushed back a few weeks because of a lift gate that gets stuck. He also understood that I have lost a lot if money. I appreciate the respect and the attention given to me. I told 'em I'd stay but they still haven't fixed the lift gate. Found this storage center on line through Yelp and was able to initiate my reservation on their web-site. Before I was through I got a call from the on-site manager, Val, and he was able to quickly complete the process. More importantly he was able to talk about the different locations and their particular benefits. When I got there we walked the two units and then went to the office to complete the paper work. He was very professional and courteous. The reason I'm not giving them a 5 star is that when they show the price on line they do not clearly, or at to me, indicate that you will have to provide insurance for you locker or take theirs, which of course adds to the cost. A disclosure of a rate increase is indicated to occur within 4 or 5 months. Which is a bit soon in my opinion. I would expect to have a least a 6 month rate lock. Regardless, I found the process fairly painless and would recommend them. read more

Be careful of this place. While the units are clean and well maintained, make sure you have in writing the due date for your rent. Ours changed 3 times and in the end we got ripped off for an extra month of rent. Also, contrary to what another reviewer posted, we were told they do not prorate for half a month. The lady who works in the evening is the rudest most awful customer service person you will talk to. Their elevators are always broken and their staff is extremely rude. The front desk attendant was less than happy to help me the day I arrived at my scheduled appointment time to set up my account. It was a Saturday and I walked in on her eating her lunch, which she then had to put down to assist me. She was bothered and not exactly thrilled that I was there. The storage unit that I was given was NOTHING like the website makes it seem. False advertisement at it's best. While I realize I didn't pay for the most expensive unit, I was expecting a little more than something that feels like a run down camp cabin with no lighting whatsoever in my storage. Everything is all wooden, even the interior of the building itself (the flooring,stairs and unit). **Most importantly: THEIR CARGO ELEVATOR DOESN'T WORK HALF THE TIME. The day I arrived with a uHaul full of my belongings from an apartment I had just moved out of, the not so friendly front desk attendant could't get it to work to which she replied "if I can't get this working I can't rent you the unit". Seriously? Everything I own is waiting to be put into this storage facility. After much finagling (which really means my boyfriend repeatedly beating the door trying to get it to open), the elevator is incredibly small and requires multiple trips. It's also an awkward design that makes it even more difficult to get your things into. This particular facility serves it purpose, but I was hoping for a better experience. read more

Left multiple messages, finally called me back, representative was rude and abrasive. said it wasn;t their policy to issue refunds. Very heartless people over there. This review is for customer service not for the space itself. The storage space look very clean and even though I ended renting the unit I have to share my experience dealing with Bernadette. First, she looked like she was having those really bad days, she answered the phone and was very mean with the people on the phone, so that made me realize it was not personal. I wanted to see the units, and she insisted that this space was not right for me because it was extrematelly hot (which was not) I insisted I wanted to see it and she was really mad walking me to see the first one and insisted the other one was super tiny and she just did not showed it at all because "she did not know where it was" , she said and did everything for me not to renting including her negative comments, rudeness and bad vibes. It looks like she feels miserable working there, dealing with customers and answering questions. I hope that I don't have to deal with her in my near future. And please don't even try to ask her about your total monthly price because she gets offended, you should know the monthly fee includes $13 renters insurance and $24 administration fee, so add it in your mind, because she won't add it for you... it's just too much work. I guess you will find out in next month's bill. read more

I didn't have any prblems with the facility or staff. That is until I no longer needed my storage unit. I called on a Thursday to cancel my unit unfortunately, my husband forgot to take the lock off the unit when we emptied the unit. I called the next day the man said he wouldn't be able to cancel my unit until i removed lock which i did that following Saturday. Unfortunately i couldnt reach them until Tuesday. They had just withdrawn my monthly payment. Turns out they wont give me my refund for the entire month i didnt need. I called the office and Bernadete was unprofessional, no sense of wanting to explain or be helpful. This was my first time renting out a unit. They never explained to me that they don't do refunds. I WILL NOT be renting with them or with Extra Space. I just don't understand why they can't refund me for the month i didnt use the unit. Basically $130 I won't get back. They should get customer service reps who can do their job. I do not recommend this facility at all. Very dissatisfied. Not a good experienc also, the 1-800 number didn't help either. read more

BE CAREFUL! The parent company raises rates after the initial 4-5 months. No exceptions. Then they raise rates every 6 to 9 months for the entirety of the contract. They bank on the fact that you will pay the increases, instead of moving all your stuff to a new place. read more

I don't make a habit of writing bad yelp reviews, but I feel like the experience I had at this facility might actually help others. I had reserved a unit online which was confirmed by phone by store manager Bernadette Casas. When I arrived the very next day to complete the paperwork, I was "greeted" by Bernadette who stated that "no one told me" that a unit had been reserved. After she found my reservation, she led me to my unit and mentioned three different times that "the elevator is always broken" while snapping at another customer that she "didn't have time" to deal with his question. I was already having second thoughts about using this facility after witnessing such lack of customer service but after hearing about the additional charges and rental increases and witnessing Bernadette run my credit card unsuccessfully a number of times while I waited in excess of twenty minutes, I changed my mind and told her I would like to cancel and find another facility. Her response was "okay" and her apology was simply "it usually doesn't take this long." I realize people have off days but I must concur with the other reviewers here who pointed out how rude the staff is at Extra Space Storage on Verdugo. There are too many storage facilities in the Burbank area to settle for this type of service. One good thing did come out of this adventure. It led me to another facility that was not only more polite and convenient, but cheaper, as well. Unfortunately, I will have to keep a close eye on my credit card statement to make sure those "swipes" don't go through. My recommendation is that you avoid this facility. read more

The staff at Extra Space Storage are rude, unprofessional, lazy and not helpful in any way. My fiancée and I went there to buy moving boxes for our move and the staff made this simple process aggravating. Upon arrival the staff members were to busy socializing to greet us and offer their help. We asked them for moving boxes and they just pointed to the boxes they had and did not offer any additional help. We purchased some boxes and left. The boxes were fine, however we realized that we needed smaller boxes, so we planned to go back and exchange three large boxes for smaller boxes. When I went back to return the boxes I was again coldly greeted by the same two staff members, and I asked them nicely if could exchange the large boxes for small boxes they both said that they could be exchanged only if I had a receipt (it did matter that the boxes were clearly branded with their logo). They did nothing to help me with this simple request, they simply went back to their conversation as if I had interrupted them. Unacceptable customer service. read more

They raise their prices every 6 to 9 months, banking on the fact that you won't relocate your items to another company. They start it off with a gentle $10/month increase. Then bump it to $20/month increase on top of that. This month I'm getting a higher bill for an extra $40/month. I'm now paying more than double the price that I had a few years ago. I've never made a bad review of anywhere before but this place is just awful. The RUDEST staff I have ever encountered before in my life. There is literally ONE friendly employee. If I could give 0 stars I would. So when we moved our stuff in we were given zero information about the place and rushed through contact singing (which you don't even sign you just click) every time we tried to stop and read it we were told to just sign. So after I had moved in I was arranging my stuff and had closed the door to my unit behind me which is apparently a no no (which I was never informed of prior to this) and was told off very rudely by a member of their staff. I agreed to not have my door closed anymore which I was quite uncomfortable with since I am located on the 3rd floor and there are zero security cameras up there. A few days later I was organizing my unit again this time with the door 3 quarters of the way open! So everything was visible from the outside except the the fucking ceiling of my unit. I didn't think this would be an issue as it's literally almost completely open but low and behold the same rude as fuck staff member comes up and harass me about it and threatens me that if it's closed again I will be kicked out. No fucking warning or anything. I followed your rule on it not being closed, buddy. Other staff members had zero issues with this when they walked passed on several other occasions but of course this one man constantly has issues with everything I do. Rudest individual I've never met. On a completely power high working at a storage locker. LOL. Anyways I do not recommend this place to anyone. I do not know the name of said employee but there are only 2 males that work here and he is the one of Asian decent. 100% the reason for this negative review. BTW I called other storage facilities in Burbank, and LA and NONE of them have rules against your locker being 3 quarters of the way open while you organize your stuff. Please choose anywhere but here. Read the other reviews, most are negative as well, gee I wonder why. Hire better staff. read more
