The responding officers were professional and told us they had received numerous complaints about this location before, but explained there was nothing they could do because it's a private business. The entire experience felt extremely dishonest and misleading. We lost valuable time, our moving plans were disrupted, and we were treated with complete disrespect. We are opening a case regarding what happened and we believe this place is fraudulent!!! Please do yourself a favor and avoid this location. Based on our experience, I would not trust this business with another reservation!

What wasn't fair was how everything else was handled. I was quoted $23 for a box, which I later found out included Styrofoam packing and "labor." When I said I'd just pack it myself, the employee asked if I brought tape. When I said no, he told me they charge $2.99 just to use their tape. Meanwhile, the employee next to him was taping up boxes for other customers for free, which made the whole situation even more confusing and frustrating. I asked for the cheapest shipping option to New Jersey and was told it would be $40. I double-checked multiple times to see if there was anything cheaper and was told no. At that point, I was looking at nearly $70 total just to ship a small package, which didn't sit right with me. I decided to walk out and come back another time with my own box. The next day, I went to a different UPS Store and got a box and shipped the same package for just under $30. less than half of what I was quoted here. This place felt like it was full of upsells and unnecessary add-ons, especially from the older gentleman who was helping me. I'd strongly recommend double-checking every charge if you end up here. I'll be honest, I already knew this location had a reputation for long lines and poor customer service, but I was in a pinch. Lesson learned. There are much better UPS Stores out there. I will NEVER come back to this location.

Something went wrong at Ups employee training school when they skipped customer service and reasonableness. I can go to other delivery stores and skip this Ups store.

    ZippGo moving boxes provided a wonderful service for our move. After seeing some neighbors using a…read morereusable box service, I decided to look into using something similar. ZippGo rents you a certain amount of boxes based on how many rooms/square feet you are moving, and they deliver the boxes to your address, you use them for a move, and they pick them up at the new address. It was easy to schedule and make sure the drop off and pickup worked at an appropriate time. The boxes themselves are sturdy plastic, and the top interlocks so you don't need any packing tape. The boxes fit on top of each other which makes them easy to stack and move. You can also pick box inserts that are designed for plates and glassware which made it so easy to move these items. I would recommend ZippGo in a heartbeat- it made our move faster, easier, and more eco friendly too!

The difference in packing efficiency was so noticeable compared to my last few moves using their system, that I reached out to ZippGo this morning with a last-minute request to switch over. Even though their driver was already on the road, Sarah was incredibly responsive and quickly worked out solutions to get me what I needed in record time. Sarah and her driver, Javier's, dedication to customer service was truly impressive. That said, I'd recommend planning ahead rather than making last-minute requests like I did! Note that their drivers don't work on Sundays and Mondays, so be sure to schedule your box deliveries in advance. ZippGo's reusable box system is a genuine time-saver that makes moving so much easier and more streamlined. 10/10 would recommend to anyone moving!

I did not realize there are other things to care about when renting a storage unit. So I pay the fees for the "free month" (administrative $25, insurance $8, a lock $12.99---now 15.99). I am ok with this for it would cost me more in gas to go to my other storage unit. I thought I would be there for three months total. I got to my storage unit and started to unload. It did not smell good, like someone left something to die in there. I started become suspicious of the rat traps that were along side the building so I looked a bit more carefully at my unit. Good choice because there were dead rat stains (you know, like an outline of the victim) on the floor. Not just one, nor two but three! YUCK! Complete with body juices and hair on one!!! Even if it was cleaned up, I would be afraid of what my clothes could smell like after a vacation in storage. So why three stars and not one? The way they handled the move. They get a 5-star for customer service. I walked in the office and the guy was horrified to hear of this. He said obviously someone did not do their job. He moved me to another unit and because I was in a rush, he told me he would do all the paperwork without me there. I came back later to grab the key, move my clothes and move my stuff to the other unit. I insisted on one not in that building. My next unit was perfect, complete with a light in it. I guess someone stored food items in one of the units and rats came. There must have been another dead rat someone close in the building. Unfortunately they have to wait until people move out to find said rat. Luckily, I know eventually dead rats mummify and stop smelling. Good cause that one building smelled really badly. The options in Martinez are few...and I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the above issue. Kudos to the staff who was always friendly and helpful. Also, a good place to buy boxes.

    Disappointing Experience Handling a Rat Infestation…read more I have been renting a unit at Public Storage on Pacheco Blvd in Martinez since January 2026. Unfortunately, in early June, I discovered evidence of a rat infestation affecting my storage unit. I found what appears to be rodent contamination on items stored inside my unit, despite the fact that I do not store food, pet food, or anything else that would reasonably attract rodents. As soon as I discovered the issue, I notified the property manager, Alex. To his credit, he agreed that pest remediation was needed. However, more than two weeks have passed since I reported the problem, and as of this review, no pest control company has been brought in to address the rat issue. The delay has been frustrating, especially considering the potential risk to customers' belongings. I also requested to be moved to a clean, unaffected unit at no additional cost. Alex relayed my request to the district manager, Billy, who ultimately denied the request. I was disappointed that no reasonable accommodation was offered, particularly given the circumstances and the ongoing concerns about contamination. What bothers me most is not that rodents were found at the facility. Unfortunately, pests can be a problem anywhere. What matters is how management responds when a customer discovers a problem. In my case, I reported the issue immediately, asked for help, and proposed reasonable solutions. Instead, I have been left waiting while the problem remains unresolved. Customers rent storage units because they expect a clean and secure environment for their belongings. If you are considering renting at this location, I recommend asking detailed questions about pest control procedures, response times, and available options if your unit is affected by rodents. I hope Public Storage takes this feedback seriously and improves how these situations are handled going forward. At a minimum, customers deserve timely action, clear communication, and practical solutions when problems like this arise.
