This review is for the Saranap location in Walnut Creek. Booked my unit online late in the evening (their website made it super easy!) and Jose promptly followed up with me via phone the following morning. When I went onsite to get my security code and to provide my proof of insurance, I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara and Alan. Super friendly, extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. Barbara helped me with the insurance, lock, and remaining paperwork. Alan is a new hire (it was his 5th day, but you'd never know it!)...so once Barbara and I had finished, Alan and I got on a cart and we toured the entire facility. He showed me how to use the gate access, elevator access, and even walked me to my actual unit. The entire facility is spotless, and Alan explained how important cleanliness is to he and his team...and it shows! He also pointed out - in detail - all of the different aspects of their security systems that they have implemented at the facility. Kudos to the on-site team at Price Self-Storage!! read more

This storage facility is clean and the facility and on-site staff make a good first impression. Tricia did a good job explaining how things work there and getting my account set up. The storage unit itself and the fine print is a different story. First, I was told by someone else there that the space would be available soon, and there would be a wait list. But the price the employee quoted over the phone was significantly less than the contract price when I got in to sign the contract just a month later. Then the unit. A 10x30. I walked up to see it after I'd signed the contract and had to ask the maintenance person if it really was 10x30. He said yes, and that it includes the space inside the walls. Oh. So I measured it. The usable inside width is 9 feet. From the door to the inside of the back, it's 28 feet 6 inches. Because of the low ceiling height and sprinkler heads, I can stack up to about 6' high without getting too close to the sprinkler. The actual size of a 300 square foot unit is about 257sf. With the admin fee, mandatory protection fee, It works out to $3.63/sf, well above current going rate for similar places. I get that size is nominal. It's in the fine print. I just did not expect it to be that far off. See attached pic of their counter display with measurements of units. Lastly, their rental agreement: It's very long, written basically completely in their favor, and you waive a number of important rights if something happens to your stuff. This is a review for the Saranap, Walnut Creek location. I've been a customer here for several years. This storage facility is everything a customer needs in the storage world: accessibility (generous operating hours), security (pass coded gates and elevators, units locked with client's own lock/key + buildings and outdoor areas are patrolled by security guard), and cleanliness (interior elevators and hallway floors routinely cleaned and looks like it). The front office staff is professional, friendly, helpful and polite. 5 solid stars all around. Today I unexpectedly received a phone call from the office: one of my units appeared to be without it's lock. I had been there in the previous week to take some things out of the unit and apparently forgot to lock it up. I found the lock and key in my car, so I was definitely at fault here. Fortunately when I opened up the unit a few hours after the phone call, I could tell nothing was missing! Dodged a bullet. HUGE thanks to whoever the responsible party is there - someone was on their toes and responsibly reported the missing lock to the front office who then called me. Given the hundreds of units at this location, the staff here deserves a medal (and a bonus) for alerting me to this problem. Thanks for the exceptional service! Highly recommend this site. read more

This storage facility is spotless and safe. The Staff does a great job and is very thorough. I gave it 4 stars because they close at 7pm. If you finish work at 6pm and have to drive there it's nearly impossible to get a thing done. It closes too early. Even 1 hour later would make a difference. I know they put through automatic price increases so I negotiated BEFORE I signed for 4 months. It's criminal how storage facilities increase prices every couple months after 3 or 4 months. I would have think hard about the 7pm closing to rent there again. Otherwise it was perfect. read more

The initial conversation started with them aggressively asking for my last name, phone number and email... I declined since I did not want to be contacted and just had a few questions. The next couple days they blew up my phone, which they must have taken from the caller ID. READ all the 1 and 2 star reviews on their unethical bait and switch strategy - advertise low rates and hike up the rent two or more times per year. They need to STOP taking advantage of people and be transparent. What's worse is all the FAKE 5-star reviews that are the same at other locations. This is the cleanest, safest-feeling, best organized self storage place I've ever seen. Tricia (who lives on-site) was super helpful and I was done with paperwork in under 10 minutes - which was nice since I had movers waiting. I won't bore you with the details of how they went to the trouble of properly installing the fire sprinkler system (with each unit on it's own valve so your stuff isn't ruined if there's a fire down the hall), requiring insurance from all customers, and multiple layers of security and guest tracking - but I was impressed (and I'm usually not). I looked into several other self-storage businesses in the area and while I can say that Price isn't the cheapest, the service they're offering is on a different level than the other places I researched. If you want a cheap-o place to throw your crap, look elsewhere. If you want to protect your property, consider these guys. read more

They are strict but for good reason, no break in's, i would say the only downer is the hours for accessibility, which are 7am to 7pm, so many timea have i needed something after 7pm. But like most slef storages they aren't open late. After nearly 5 years of using Price Self Storage for my corporate storage unit... I sadly would never recommend or go back to using them. I am in the business of pharmaceutical sales where when you move on to a new position or leave a company, that company closes out the account. To my surprise when trying to open a new account under my new company name, I was told my last unit was not properly closed out. I explained this must be a misunderstanding as I no longer work there and paid my final payments before leaving. Drew, the "manager" insisted they have given several notices sent to the email that I NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS TO since I didn't work there and I needed to pay over $800 or I would be sent to collections. I explained that I professionally cleaned out the unit at the end of March and even paid for the month of April and would still be using their storage facility with my new company. Apparently my company forgot to take the lock off before leaving which meant I was still liable to pay. I asked if they could cut the lock and understand I've never missed a payment in 5 years and I would STILL be giving them business with my new company. I guess 2 months of payment was more important than years and years to come of business from me. Drew was not understanding although he said "he understood", didn't show any sense of empathy or compassion over the miscommunication, was completely rude and just kept threatening to send me to collections and that it was my responsibility to make sure the email on my old account with them was updated to an email where I would have received those notices. He said that wasn't his problem... Save yourself the frustration from doing business with people who rather get fast money than your long term investment and store your goods anywhere but here! read more

Moving in is easy, moving out is archaic and impossible to do without personally standing in their office with a pen and credit card multiple times. They don't take CCs by phone or website, they can't extend the auto pay CC to cover the move out, they don't use Docusign or similar products. I didn't expect a storage facility to be cutting edge, but they are suspiciously inept when it comes to exiting the agreement. And don't expect an understanding ear from the onsite management. The friendly nature from move in fades when recommending consumer friendly upgrades upon move out. read more

But they lure you in with low rates, and then - once you've gone through the extremely difficult process of moving everything in - they start hitting you with rent increases twice a year. And not trivial increases, either. They can literally double the rates on you within a few years. I finally demanded they not only reverse an increase, but actually give me a refund; they refused, and I moved out. They obviously know they can get more suckers so didn't do anything to try to keep me. Call around and ask specifically about any storage facility's increase policy, and get it in writing. They also accompany their frequent increase notices with a letter explaining that they have recently surveyed other local storage facilities and are adjusting their rents to be 'market rate' - but these guys charge a lot more. read more
