Dear Customer Relations, I am writing to report an issue that occurred today at your Hawaiian Gardens location, involving both a billing error and unprofessional conduct. I was in the process of making a payment of $1,600 and chose to split the transaction. I initially paid $1,100 using my debit card. Although the employee, Rodrigo, stated that the payment did not go through on his system, the funds were in fact deducted from my bank account. He then instructed me to run the payment again, while casually stating that the money would be returned on Monday. At no point did he properly verify the transaction or provide a professional or apologetic response--instead, he laughed off the situation, which I found extremely disrespectful. As it stands, $1,100 has been withdrawn from my account without being properly applied, and I am now being told to wait days for a resolution. This is unacceptable, especially as a repeat customer who frequently pays for units months in advance. I am requesting: - Immediate confirmation and proof of the refund process for the $1,100 charge - A review of this transaction error and why it occurred - Appropriate action regarding the employee's conduct - Consideration for compensation due to the inconvenience and mishandling of this situation This experience has seriously impacted my trust in your company, and I am now considering moving my business elsewhere. Real quick, I will say the facility is clean and don't see any damage to fencing or unlocked doors. HOWEVER, if you use their bluetooth access for the gates, you could be sitting there for a minute or two and the second you try to enter your code manually, the gate magically wants to open once a single button is entered in. If you're lucky enough to have a bluetooth unit, the doors are very secure and no one is hacking your unit. I went upstairs and saw regular padlock doors though and it's basically just thin plywood that you could likely rip the lock right off the hinges. Also the biggest annoyance for me is that the ONE TOILET in the whole place is on the OUTSIDE (open to the public) and only open during office hours. So if you're here too early, too late or on a Sunday.....well you better hurry up and find a local business who'll let you use their restroom. read more

I have had not issues with the staff or access to my unit or concerns about security. However, my fees have been increaseed at an unreasonable rate. I specifically asked if my initial monthly fee of $73.20 was a promo fee and was told no. I asked how often and how much I should expect the rate to increase, and was told rate increases do happen, but they couldn't tell me when or how much that might be. When I had a 20% rate increase 3 months later, I didn't think too much about it, seemed reasonable. Well, last month I received another notice of fee increase. This time it was a 36% increase. In less than a year, my monthly fee went from $73.20 to $120. That is a whopping 63% increase in less than one year. Renter beware. read more

Extra Space is a great place to keep your belongings away from home. They are always providing great deals online, and for those times payments might not be able to be fulfilled on time, they are very lenient. A most important thing, the hours are one of the best since there really aren't anymore 24 hour access self-storages around (locally at least). Ultimately, sometimes you need to spend a little bit more time visiting your storage, being here for an hour near closing time even, I've NEVER felt unsafe! read more

easy experience with Extra Space Storage using their online form to secure a space, didn't even have to deal with a single person! this particular location though normally has carts readily available and for the most part seems to be maintained quite well. I had even accidentally left some stuff on a cart and luckily the maintenance crew was there to grab them before someone else thought it was magically theirs. I walked into the office and asked if anyone had turned in anything. they said nothing was turned in but they called maintenance to check if they had found my stuff and lo and behold, they picked them up! thank goodness for honest people and the crew at this location! can't recommend them enough! read more

Since I've been here I've had no issues and anything that's come up that needed to be addressed was addressed immediately and taken care of. I had a need for extra space following the Covid outbreak. Monique assisted me with all my needs. She helped me check in. Boy was I glad she was there again when I moved out. Sometimes those lift elevators can be broken. Other times, It's user error. One of those times it was the latter.I went into the office after hauling an ottoman down the stairs on a 88 degree hot day. I announced the lift isn't working. Here's the attitude I got from Monique. "Yeah, it's likely working but I'll gladly check it for you, just in case". THATS customer service! Like the old days! Here the attitude I got from her male counterparts, "yeah, it's your fault, we are NOT moving from our desk". Monique, walking with a limp went to the lift. Even went upstairs with a hurt foot/leg. I asked did it work? She Explained where I went wrong. My next trip, I was able to complete all of the move out, using the lift. SHE understood the assignment. I apologized for my error. She said, awe, "it's ok I could use the steps". A woman with a physical limp! Awesome. I felt she was there to gladly assist. Isn't that WHY the office staff is there?? If you can't help with the lifts, even if IS user error WTF are you being paid for? More Moniques PLEASE!!!!! read more

This was my first time renting a storage unit and Ever made it a smooth and comfortable process! She explained the breakdown cost of everything, gave me multiple unit options, and was transparent about providing the best deal possible considering I needed the until for just one month. Because of this pandemic, tours of the different units aren't being offered. But I listed all the things I would be moving in and Ever made the decision for which unit would be best for all my belongings. The access to the units here are great, the unit was spacious, and the time I went to drop off things, there weren't a lot of people around. It was hassle-free.
