Immediately called to let the property manager know i forgot the keys. i was told by their property manager (whose name i will leave private) that as long as they see my unique code used on the call box and that my unit is empty, they'll move me out and not to worry about returning the keys. I even offered to bring back the keys and was told it's not necessary. I am now being hounded by public storage to pay not only a month of rent AFTER i moved out, they're stacking monthly late fees on top of it since i didn't return the keys. They clearly didn't do a check out inspection when i left, or they would have called me and told me i needed to return the keys. Their new office "manager" is extremely rude and kept telling me she's new and she's just the messenger. Instead of helping me resolve my issue she sent my bill to collections. . She kept telling me the worker gave me the wrong information and i do indeed owe them this money. This is outrageous because they're letting me know almost 2 months later that i do owe them, even though THEIR employee misinformed me. Yes i understand this is on my contract, but that's why i CALLED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER who assured me it was not an issue. It is not my fault in any way that your manager misinformed me, i would have brought the keys back that day. I spoke to the collections office and told her what happened, she said she does not feel that this is fair and she will take notes. Since then, i am not getting CONSTANT texts from public storage asking me to pay my balance. If they already sent me to collections, there's no reason that they continue to harass me instead of having the collections agency take care of it. Why would i ask a manager something, be told to disregard it, and then be charged and sent to collections? Absolutely disgraceful experience and I will never use public storage again. They are dishonest thieves.

There was no discussion of my application, no opportunity to explain anything further, and no indication before I made the trip that my reservation would not be honored. What makes this especially frustrating is that someone from the facility had already spoken with me by phone before my arrival. If the decision had already been made that I would not be permitted to rent a unit, a simple phone call could have saved me the unnecessary trip, wasted time, and fuel. Instead, I was instructed to come to the facility only to be told upon arrival that I was not allowed on the property. After I escalated the matter to corporate, I was told my reservation fee would be refunded. The most frustrating part wasn't even the refund--it was the way we were treated. Forwarding a confusing internal email stating the fee had been paid by cash or check instead of answering a customer's questions directly, refusing to acknowledge obvious errors, and making us escalate to corporate for a resolution came across as childish, evasive, and deeply unprofessional. This review is not about the U-Haul brand, but about the local independent operator at this address: All Storage Inspirada. At pickup, no walkthrough or inspection was performed. We were given a standard pre-printed document in the office, asked to sign it, handed the keys, and sent on our way. No fuel level was verified with us, and no condition checklist was reviewed. We returned the truck the same evening, clean, swept, fully equipped, and refueled. Once again, no walkthrough or inspection was conducted at return, and we were not advised of any issues. Despite this, after the rental was complete, we were charged fuel and late fees with no contemporaneous inspection, documentation, or customer acknowledgment. A signature on pre-printed paperwork does not replace an actual inspection, and applying charges after the fact without verification raises serious consumer-protection concerns, including the appearance of unfair or deceptive billing practices. This appears to be a location-specific, post-rental billing practice that lacks transparency and accountability. It reflects poorly on the local operator, not on U-Haul as a company. We are attempting to resolve this matter in good faith, but based on this experience, we do not recommend renting from All Storage Inspirada at this location. I've seen firsthand the work she does and not only is it well done, it's a lot of hard, physical labor. Honestly, I'm not sure how she does it. 3. The prices of the units are very competitive.
