Extra Space Storage - area - Self Storage Near Me - Oceanside, California

I am updating my Review now because I am having a really bad experience storing all of my expensive items there that are valued at approximately $3,000.00 for everything I own now. This is a really awful place to store my items in this Extra Space Storage Center at the Oceanside. CA location. I have been their loyal customer for one year and 4 months now. When I lived in Oceanside, CA last year on the Summer time from (June 2024 to October 2024 ) when I would make frequent trips to my storage unit this storage unit space has no air conditioning and no fresh air. I would have to open up one of the doors and walk a long way to get to my storage space unit and when I lifted up this really heavy metal door , it was extremely HOT inside my Storage Unit and I was always sweating . It's because there is no air conditioning system in all of their Storage Units. It felt like being inside a hot oven . It's an awful feeling! The metal door is very difficult to lift up, I have to use this rope that's attached to the metal door at the bottom and then put my foot on this metal plate at the bottom of this storage unit then I try to lift up the storage metal door . This door is very heavy and difficult to lift up myself since I am an older age now. I don't have a lot of strength like I used to have. That's one thing that I found a negative side to this Extra Space Storage Space Place. These are other important things I wanted to share with the public who read my Reviews. I noticed that every 3 months my Rent is increased at a very high rate without notification to me through emails or no text messages to let me know one month ahead of time that my Rent is going to be raised an extra $55.00 then I am also charge a very expensive late fee of the $40.00 that's added onto my monthly rent bill . There is a Grace Period of only 7 days later until my Rent Bill is due again every month on October 3, 2025. I signed a contract last year in May 2024. But when I called and spoke to Erika H. their Manager she told me their contract that I signed up last year Erika their manager gave me the information the fee would stay the same price for several months and would not be increased until 6 months later. I was lied to by Erika their manager. Then Erika told me their Extra Space Storage Center keeps charging their customers higher fees every 3 months without giving all of their loyal customers advance notice. I believe this Storage Facility is a very GREEDY facility. They don't care about their customers at all. I keep getting charged their late fees now there is a late fee of $55.00 that has been added onto my Regular Bill for $355.00. My normal bill used to be the $234.85. But my Rent it keeps increasing every 3 months and it's not an affordable rent price. This Extra Space Storage Facility purposely doesn't have a set price because they are overcharging me and the rest of their customers. I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau tomorrow morning on their www.bbb.org website. I read their is also an ongoing Lawsuit against this Company for their Unfair Business Practices in California. I will try to do my best to move my items out of this horrible Storage Facility soon. read more

I have had my RV at this storage facility for several years and it provides security, ease of access, paved lot, lighting, a wash area and also storage units. Due to my current situation, a friend put my belongings safely here. When I have to access or change out whatever it may be, it seems the manager suddenly appears breathing down my neck, reminding literally that shes noticed that im here more than i need to be, her excact words. this threw me off because 1. Dues paid on time. 2. This is during operating hours. I didn't know one couldn't exceed 1 hour there? totally made me feel akwrd. When I expressed my frustrations regarding her profiling, being judgmental and micromanaging , she took it upon herself to close out my friends' agreement without asking or thinking of solution for understanding on both sides and better communication, complicating matters. This was handled incorrectly. Now I feel the need to share my experience. Come to think of it, as a manager, i wonder why she never recommended rewriting the agreement under my name. I want to give a shout out to Extra Space Storage for taking such good care of us. We live in Hawaii and brought our van to California. Extra Space Storage - Our trailer. - Self Storage Near Me - Oceanside, California

I rented a small unit here at a rate of $36 a month. I was told I could only use one specific type of lock (the circular type) which they sold in the office for more than $20. I purchased my own lock, the exact brand and type as what ExtraSpace had in the office for $6 at Walmart. I received two 10% rate increases within a year's time with my rate as of 12/21 $44. Then at the start of 2022 my rate suddenly jumped to $80. Almost double my current rate. Calls and in person visits resulted in the usual bs recital of the lengthy customer agreement and a ridiculous offer to lower the price to $79, which by law they would of had to do anyway. They never did which has a left me open the option to sue them. I intend to make it a class action lawsuit in order that government oversight becomes necessary. During the time I've been renting I've had a mice infestation and destruction of property (documented). I had dirt blown up into my unit covering everything it contained in dust due to repaving and failure to properly block the very wide gaps present in every outer along the work area (also documented). I spent several weeks having to use an alternate and very lengthy walkway and alternate door to access my unit because the manager allowed a roofing contractor to block the entrance near my unit and did not make any ADA necessary access changes available. Other options to place the dumpster without blocking any units were available. Being permanently disabled due to a back injury meant longer and more frequent trips to and from my unit and the use of a trolley which was not always available (they only had 1 available for use at the site) out of hours. I am aware most, if not all, self storage facilities are greedy, unethical companies that even has an association that gives advice on how to circumvent laws and ethical business practices. It warns them when state or federal laws might affect them. Yet no where on their sight does it have any section or statement promoting ethical business practice. On the contrary, association regularly releases information on topics such as how to raise prices, the definition of a "sticky" customer and how to legally (try) to get away with getting away with using loopholes and rhetoric to break current laws. ExtraSpace is the worst bloodsucker of them all in my experience. Stay away from them at all costs. read more

I needed a place to store our motorhome. Not sure how many calls I made to other places and major run arounds until I call Extra Space Storage. Got a spot right there on the phone, and they lowered it from $245 to $217 per month. My motorhome is 32 feet and had no problem driving it to my spot and parking it! Our 23ft toy hauler was STOLEN right out of the parking lot, don't keep anything here! We kept our toy hauler here and with in the same week our trailer was hit by a neighboring boat and then was literally STOLEN out of the parking lot a few days later. When we noticed it was hit, there was apparently nothing the manager could do and the neighboring boat (who had damage on their boat that lined up perfectly with ours) denied hitting us, so we were SOL. Nothing could be done which is crazy! A week or so later, we went to pick up our trailer to go camping and it was MISSING from its spot. It had been stolen right out of the parking lot. The cameras at the entrance/exits caught the truck(s) leaving with our trailer but the cameras vision was so crappy it couldn't make out the license plate or faces. (a work truck that entered and exited with the truck who stole our toy hauler, was an existing storage holder member. He input the gate code, both trucks entered, and both left less than 10 mins later together with our trailer in tow, coincidence?) Conveniently, they had installed new cameras days after our trailer was stolen, with a much better picture (before we even knew it was missing). Can't help but wonder what prompted that, especially when the worker said "we noticed your trailer missing last week." Stay away from this place. read more

I live right across the street from this storage location but checked prices online to see who in Oceanside had the best price for a unit. This location had a much higher price than some of the other places in town, including another location of this same company. We almost picked the other location of Extra Space on Oceanside Blvd but ended up being lazy and paying the higher price for the convenience of this location. I signed my contracts and did everything over the phone and online. The process was super fast and easy. When we arrived to our unit less than 1/2 hour after the process I was happy to find my lock already waiting for me in my unit. The unit was clean and easy to find. Overall a good place other than the price. read more

Great place to store an RV/boat. Gated, paved, flat, and the spaces are long and wide enough to comfortably maneuver. We felt our RV was always safe and secure, and the staff is responsive and helpful. Price was really fair, especially compared to some other options. read more

DO NOT store your items here. They are INFESTED WITH RATS. My couches were destroyed by rats after three short months of storage. All other furniture was covered in feces and Urine. Jeff has washed his hands clean stating rats are "an act of nature". Edited to add: I have called the 800# below in their response a couple weeks ago and they have yet to get back in contact with me to make this right as they stated. read more

Just moved into a RV storage space for my travel trailer. I was on a waiting list and was happy to get a call back to let me know a spot had just opened up that day. This place was much closer to my house so I was glad to move my trailer. This facility provides a dump station so that will come in handy. I did just find out that the lower price I got will eventually go up after a few months so not too happy with that. Overall though the space looks to be secure and I am glad the parking is all on level ground! Everyone I worked with in person and on the phone has provided great customer service. read more

We recently purchased a class A Motorhome, then realized the challenge was going to be finding a storage space. Everyone in the Oceanside area was full with waiting lists. Then we got a call from Erica with Extra Space Storage. They had a space open up. Erica was incredible. Even though we didn't yet have the Motorhome, she let us reserve the space with our truck!! The entry and lot are clean and inviting. Customer Service is alive and well here! The only negative, the RV wash has been broken and apparently ownership will not spend the money to repair. read more

I recently purchased an RV and needed to find a secure, conveniently located, and affordable place to store it. After inquiring at the Extra Space Storage facility on Oceanside Blvd, the staff there informed me they didn't have space for my size RV (35'), but were very helpful in locating space at their North River Road facility. Being semi-retired (military) the price is important to me, and they are priced about the same (or even lower) than others, has adequate security, and is relatively easy to get in-and-out of. The staff at both facilities are helpful, courteous, and professional, especially Sabrina who I dealt with here at North River Road. The whole process was quick and painless so you won't be disappointed! Well done Extra Space Storage, keep up the great work! read more

In July of 2021, I went to Extra Space Storage located at 4705 N. River Road in Oceanside CA with a question about my billing ( I've been a customer here since 2018). Ericka was helping another customer and I couldn't help but notice how friendly, efficient and caring she was with him, all the while she comfort me with telling me she was going to help me as soon as she was done. After approx. 5 mins, Ericka apologized for the wait, and patiently and genuinely cared and listened to my words. As it turned out, I misread my statement and Ericka and I laughed about my mistake, she realized I had been a customer for over 3 years and offered to look into other issues I brought up.. Ericka didn't just "brush me off" to get rid if me, she genuinely cared and approx 2 weeks later she sent me an email addressing an issue we discussed, she handled all aspects professionally and friendly and left me feeling happy and important.
