*RESPONSE TO JULIO'S RESPONSE* My review highlights the fact that you and your staff are NOT consistent with ensuring rules are followed. You and Michelle singled me out. Multiple people violated rules, multiple times, and the pictures and my statement are proof of this. I was told by the previous managers that there was a grace period for exiting the facility, and that at some point, the gate access becomes locked and you cannot exit. I was specifically told that if that ever happened, to call the number on the gate and they would come down and let me out, but "not to make a habit out of it." That is vastly different from your new DON'T BE LATE BY ONE MINUTE OR WE'LL EVICT YOU stance. You cited 4 "after hour" violations. It should be noted that those "after hour" violations were 5 minutes or less. WOW. Seems really customer friendly. And you claim I was sleeping. As I explained to you multiple times, I was lying down due to a migraine, waiting for my meds to kick in. Again, this place is just not worth the drama. Julio, I hope you learn to treat people better and with compassion. Michelle, just, no. ------ I had a terrible experience with this place once Michelle Hinojos and her girlfriend/wife took over in the summer of 2020. Before that I had no issues. It seemed these two women had a personal vendetta against me. I will exemplify how soon. I rented a unit for storage of excess belongings that I cannot keep in my one bedroom rented apartment. I would visit for a few days each month to go through my stuff and declutter and minimize. You know, basic spring cleaning that we all like to put off? On the morning of September 15th, I arrived early to storage to prepare my boyfriend's birthday presents (which I had hidden in my storage so he couldn't find them). As I was preparing the presents, I came down with a migraine and decided to lie down. I shut the door of my storage unit to block out the sounds (there was someone power drilling down the hall) and light because, you know, it's a frikkin migraine. Anyway, Michelle's girlfriend was making rounds at the unit and found me lying down in my unit. She warned me not to do it again or I would be evicted. Fair enough. Fast forward an hour and I get an eviction notice. So here's the problem I have with all this: 1) I was given a warning, but they decided to change their minds (probably because she went and consulted with Michelle, and Michelle doesn't like me for whatever strange reason, so she told her to evict me asap) 2) I would have no problem with being evicted, fine, I broke the rules, but in addition to #1, there's also the fact that EVERYONE ELSE HERE LOITERS, and they do it so OBVIOUSLY, and no one else was evicted but me. So I have a migraine, and you think compassionate people would understand and proceed with just a warning. But no, they evict me. And then you have all these seemingly homeless people who are legit loitering and they're okay with it. Again, seems like a personal vendetta. My interactions with Michelle always felt...off. Power trip much? The photos I've provided show the couple who would set up their work shop everyday in front of their unit and would drill stuff, hammer...like actually work there for hours, usually staying until after gate hours (how would I know? The few times I lost track of time and ran late, I would see them there, still working.) Another one is a guy who would come to read in his unit everyday, for hours. The other picture is of a guy who would come hang out with his dog. Unpictured is a woman on my move out day, who had her unit set up with a table and chair and bedding, who had brought a male guest in. She was sitting on his lap in her chair, her little chihuahua yapping away, they were smoking cigarettes (YES, INSIDE THEIR INSIDE STORAGE UNIT), and drinking. They also had music blasting. Again, I would have been fine being evicted...like fine, I broke the rules. BUT WHY DO THE RULES ONLY APPLY TO ME? I spoke with the regional manager, Julio Oliva, who was not interested in working with me whatsoever. I was considering taking this company to court for clear disability discrimination (I have diagnosed disability that are the reason for my migraines), yet I decided to let it go. I don't need to further stress myself out over a company that clearly doesn't want my continued business. *ALSO, THIS STORAGE FACILITY HAS THE WORST GATE HOURS EVER. Who tf closes on holidays and closes at 7pm? This was a common complaint I heard amongst other tenants. **Their prices aren't that great. ***A light fixture once broke in one of the hallways, and I reported it to management twice. It took about 4 weeks to get it fixed. That means glass was shattered all over the floor for close to a month. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALLSTORAGE IN ENCINITAS. The managers Erik and Sonya are great, they are organized, responsible, and run a respectful business. They are the ones who now have my continued business. read more

DO NOT RENT A UNIT HERE. This business treats customers like they are wayward schoolchildren, in need of a good slap across the face. As others have pointed out - minor rules are enforced with zeal and in a manner more befitting a jail or juvenile detention center, but major issues like theft and vandalism are swept under the rug and ignored. If you are 2-3 minutes late leaving the facility even ONE time..... No warning, no courtesy notice, immediate double secret probation or "office hours" and they treat you like garbage from that moment onwards. Don't get me wrong... you still get to pay the same rate as before but for an hour less service every day, oh and 1/2 of the caretalking team will threaten to "beat the sh *t out of you" if you eff up again. No joke. But wait, sure these minor rules violations are a hassle, and grown people shouldn't be patronized or spoken to like they are idiots, but I bet when you have a major issues like your storage unit getting robbed and vandalized, I bet you are happy for all those rules then eh? The proprietors spring into action and suddenly you see all of their devastating, petty rules-enforcement might focused on YOUR behalf eh? I bet you are sorry you complained then huh? Nope! Rules are only for minor petty stuff, NOT big things. Big things, like theft, vandalism, trespass, those things they are powerless against. Can't even raise one finger to lazily hit the keys necessary to pull up video from one of their 8,000 cameras on premises (seriously, some lucky camera sales guy is living in a beach house paid for by commissions from this place. Every move you make is recorded here. Every. Single. Move.) Yeah, you can't request to see who robbed you, vandalized your unit, and poured urine and gasoline all over your possessions. Nope! That video only goes to "corporate" and needs to be requested by police. Really? Why? Why would checking to see how a unit was broken into, by whom, and when, be against corporate policy? How does that make any sense? But then, Shouldn't you be more concerned about a paying customers unit being robbed than about lateness? I guess not because when they finally supplied me with records of access to my unit (still no video, just electronic record of comings and going's) and when I pointed out multiple unauthorized occasion of access did they scramble to look at video? Call corporate? Show any concern at all? Nope. "Those are phantom openings caused by the train running nearby" was the fantastical answer. .....Seriously? In that case you should remove the word "security" from your name and maybe refocus on solving THAT problem as opposed to directing all your energy to punishing violators of your scheduling policy, since that sounds like something you should be a little more concerned about then someone leaving 3 minutes late. But nope, instead of concern all I got was....ANOTHER warning for a tardy exit and a threat to evict me. You know why I was late? because I was busy calling YOU, just to find out that nothing could be done to help me in this situation. You know....Maybe I deserved that last warning... after all, I should have known better than to expect anyone to care about something as minor as theft and vandalism when there are late notices to send out to schedule violators. But hey, the good news is....You don't have to worry about evicting me! Nope! Because I'll be moving out of your wonderful facility with whatever is left of my belongings just as soon as humanly possible. While my SIL was deployed we stored my daughters household belongings here. The management was kind and helpful. When we cleaned it out there were no bugs nor mice! We were very thankful for that!!! This place has its good points and most definitely is bad ones too. So let me start with the bad. Alec- is such a douche. Not only is he rude, he don't seem to be willing to help solve the problems and issues that me as a customer was having and it was because of their website!!! Not my fault. He not only was being a jerk , he didn't want to remove the late fees that was put on my account because I was locked out of paying online. The female shift manager( EVE) went out of her way to help me And boy was he pissed off because she understood where I was coming from and removed some of those fees. Shame on you !! I have been a customer with you all since 2018 and you couldn't even cut me some slack. Is it my fault that your system has a mind of its own and stops me from making online payments therefore I am constantly late? And my military discount was supposed to be applied back since 2019. Only open from 7am to 7pm, they'll do everything they can to get money out of you. The storage unit advertises a Free Truck for moving. Even it if it unused they won't allow you to use it to move out because they are trying to continue to charge you for storage. Move in only, their intentions are pretty clear. No flexibility, no help. And don't trust the elevators, spent an hour in one and the manager was upset we'd used the emergency line to call for help because it cost them money. After making an online reservation at a different storage unit and then losing it I found myself scrambling to find another one stat. Searched online and came across this spot. They had an easy online rental setup and application process. Not to mention I scored an online discount for my rental. I was able to come over get everything setup in a matter of minutes. Customer service here was exceptional and both team members went above and beyond to make my move in an easy transaction. The storage u it for me is upstairs and do they have easy to use elevators and free dolly push carts. I was able to fit everything into my 10x10 unit with ease. I even had to call them as I left the key for my lock on the Uhaul in Orange County. They offered to let me use the bolt cutters pending a release form to remove it. This saved me so much $$$ to not have to go get my key. I am glad the other location screwed up because this company has been phenomenal. read more
