Came in looking for a unit to rent, had a plan for using it about a year or two. They showed me a unit that was perfect for me and was what I needed. The price was a bit high but was something I could deal with. After slowly moving all my thing in there about 3 months in they sent me a notice that they where Going rise the rent about $40 witch was something that I wasn't planing on. Another Two weeks went buy they send me another notice that they where gonna change the door to several units. Meaning they would cut my lock and giving me the key to the need lock witch they would put on. I was not happy about knowing that they would have a key to my unit and the inconvenience to the price increase, so I cancel the unit. Moved everything out before they change the lock. Im give this a one star to warn everybody that you will get screwed over. What a waste of time and energy with this place. I would give this place a negative stars if I could read more

I have been renting one of the larger roll up units that are out doors for over 7 years now. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTELY WORST POSSIBLE PLACE YOU COULD EVER CHOOSE TO STORE YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS. My unit was broken into and I had over 20k of electronics, bikes, and tools stolen out of my unit along with a ton of pictures of my family that not replaceable. I paid for there shitty renters insurance and turned in receipts and a police report for all items and never heard back ever again and never received a dollar from my claim. The manager is rude and unprofessional and constantly harasses me for covering my items when I have my roll up door open even though he is fully aware that it's only because I don't want anyone seeing what I have in my unit after it already has been robbed. I recently found rat shit all over my couch and furniture but, the manager and staff could care less. Now after all these years renting from these scumbags they just increased my rent from $500 to $800 a month!!! What a joke. I can't wait to get a the hell out of here. APRIL 16, 2015 - IF YOU ARE A CURRENT CUSTOMER, YOUR UNIT MAY HAVE BE ROBBED. PLEASE CHECK YOUR STORAGE UNIT IMMEDIATELY. SEVERAL UNITS HAVE BEEN BROKEN INTO WITHIN THE LAST WEEK OR SO. THE LAST TIME I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE WE WERE AT 3+ AND COUNTING. Do not store your stuff here. Do not buy their locks. They do not have "superior security" as promised on their website. Google "Extra Space Storage break ins" and you'll see why. This is not the only location that has been hit within the last 2 years. This should give you an idea of how poorly they secure their facilities. Cheaper isn't always better. My fiancé and I are in between moves (staying with family) until we can find a place together. Of course, we got a storage unit to put all our extra stuff in until then. This weekend (April 12, 2015), we decided to take some stuff out. Lo and behold, we discovered our unit was broken into. You wouldn't notice it at first because the lock didn't look picked but it was. The robbers made off with a bunch of stuff, including sentimental items. We called the police and they came. The officers informed us that they were called twice on April 11th (the day before) for two break-ins. They recommended we change locks because the round locks Extra Space sold us were the common factor and it's possible someone figured out how to pick them. (DO NOT BUY LOCKS FROM THEM.) Paul is great. The lady who works there (or used to work there?) was/is an idiot. Paul definitely deserves a raise or something because he was sincere and calmed me down when I spoke with him. He stated that he contacted all customers that there have been break ins. I sincerely hope he was telling the truth. He did say that MORE break ins were reported on April 13th (the day after). The security system in this storage unit is a joke and that should have been the first clue. I drove around the complex yesterday to see what "superior security" they provide. 4 bull$hit cameras inconveniently located. NONE focused on the main entrance of our storage building, of course. There are no cameras inside the buildings or at least, not ours. That looks to be about it. Superior security. Rightttttttttttt..... -_- We also saw shady people hanging about, entering the document storage building the day we realized we were robbed. The two women hid when the police came. (Clue #2) Actually, the first clue should have been when we signed the lease on the unit. The lady working there had us set our gate code and had the screen turned to us, showing everyone's gate code to us. She realized her mistake after we had been staring at them for 5 minutes. When looking for a storage company... - Do your research before storing stuff. - Check out the facility. - See what security they provide. - Cheaper isn't always better. - Do not store your stuff at ANY Extra Space Storage company. I got robbed too. No body contacted me from extra space storage concerning the break ins that happened around April 2015. I have not been to my storage since last winter 2014. My lock was also picked because it was difficult to open with my key and soon as I opened my door it was apparent I was robbed. All my boxes were slashed open and rummaged through. All my valuables are gone. The office was closed so I will be reporting this to them and the police tomorrow. It sounds like I'm screwed. Shouldn't the insurance cover this? I am in the upstairs of the A building. I just edited my post and changed my rated from 1 star to 4 stars because extra space storage treated me very well when I reported this to them and Orange Police also did an excellent job with taking a report for my loss. Also I was very relieved to learn my insurance I pay for with extra space will definitely cover my losses up to the max amount I covered my unit for which was $2000. The police also informed me that arrests were already made for the break ins that occurred so there's a chance the police might have some of my property recovered. I just made the report so I have to wait for a call from the detectives. All things considered extra space storage is a good company to rent from. No place can guarantee you won't have losses but as long as the insurance coverage is good and security of the place does their best to prevent losses that is the most you can hope for. Unfortunately in my case I had been one of the unlucky ones but a lesson learned to not keep to much valuables in storage and cover what you do have with insurance just in case. What can I say? It's a storage facility. It does what it is supposed to do; and stores my stuff. Their restroom and facility grounds are always clean, their units start off at a reasonable price (will explain below), and offer discounts when you refer a friend. The unit I currently rent, started out at a really decent price. When I first started renting there, it was $95/month for a 10x15 unit. Since then (2 years), the price has gone up considerably, and I am now paying $145/month. When I asked the manager about the increases in my monthly rate, she told me that it happens at all storage facilities and will most likely continue to go up. I am not sure if this is true, but if so, that is pretty sh!tty of them. If you only need to store your stuff for a few months- you cant go wrong here. But if you are looking for a storage unit for long term use, I would definity do some research on prices and rate increases before you sign a contract. read more

The manager, Lynne, was lovely at the time I was signing the contract, but as soon as I had any problems, she became smug and nasty. We got charged an extra month because you must inform them of cancellation 10 days in advance. We explained our situation and Anthony just looked at us blankly and told me it was impossible to issue a refund. I don't buy that - issuing a refund is never impossible. NEVER feel comfortable with businesses that operate like this. Then when we went to remove the overpriced lock (that we had to purchase from them), the key broke in the lock!! Lynne just looked at us and said we must have superhuman strength - NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that they had sold us a defective product!!! I rented a storage room 3 months ago and was told by the guy behind the desk that they rarely had price increases and when they did, it was a small increase and not to expect one for the first year. After only 3 months, they raised my fee by 25%! A 45.00 a month increase! When I went into the office to talk to the manager, a real Bi&@h, she was so rude I couldn't believe it. She has this smurk on her face the entire conversation, which didn't last long since she was unwilling to even discuss the increase. Bottom line is these people are liars! I've had a storage locker with them for about 6 months , moved all my stuff into their storage locker. Bunch of high end sneakers, watches, colognes , tv, gaming systems, etc... my locker was "broken" into on Oct 23 ... they went shopping through my locker ... i informed the female manager Lynn, she simply acted surprise and handed me a pamphlet to call the insurance. She didn't seemed shocked or surprised ... said it was probably my fault that I didn't make sure my lock was secured... but there was no forceful entry... filed police report .... went in again 7 days later and on 11/3 I went to pack the rest of the stuff that was left and guess what.... it was " broken " into again.... spoke to Lynn , asking to please explain how this happened , no lock broken , no forced entry. Told her I feel like it might've been them .. she freaked out kicked me out of the office because I was "acting hostile and crazy" with what I was suggesting . Called police yet again.... one of the employee's , Clay, said " anyone could pick these locks , there's a ton of YouTube videos on it " that isn't something you tell to a customer ... it's been 10 days haven't heard anything from the insurance ... I'm disappointed in the staff of the complex and how they handle a burglary on their property.. spoke to many other tenants and neighboring people they say this has happened many other times... I feel like it was an inside job . Only explanation . Poor customer service , poor excuse of management , poor excuse of human beings , I strongly feel like the property manager is the one who is responsible for this ..... but cameras don't work apparently. So there's that. This place is not even worth a 1 Star!! DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE!! Not only did I have the rent raised on my unit 2x in 1 year, I also had my stuff stolen! I was told that my unit was not the only one; there are several units that have been broken into. The staff, and more importantly, the manager (a women, I heard that she has been working there a long time) were just awful and handled the situation poorly. I was not compensated in anyway; in fact, I did not even receive an apology. I felt violated and confused... I currently have a storage I'm using here and am severely disappointed. The office girl is not personable and is very direct/short when talking to you. They decided to continue charging me for insurance after I showed proof and resigned the lease. I also signed up over the web for a specific price, but once I had moved in a few months later they raised my rent 20%!!! I am stuck deciding whether to move my stuff for the principle or pay out the extra cash and be lazy. I don't know if other storage facilities play this same ridiculous game but I can't in good faith recommend this facility. read more

I would have loved to give this place a 5 star review, but I cannot do that. In the beginning the service was fine and they were friendly. Prices seemed competitive even though they increased after a few months, which seemed planned. Even with that, though, I was fine with the place. My fiancee and I had a storage unit there for 8 months without issue. In the last few months conditions have arisen that it made the most sense for us to get a second unit for a short period. After moving into the new unit I wanted to grab my TV out of our old unit. We open it up to find out someone had picked the lock (which we purchased from the facility), stolen our TV, Computer, 80+ DVDs, clothes, countless personal sentimental things with little to no monetary value and just generally tossed the entire unit. More shocked than upset, we went to the office, which is closed on Sundays and tried to get in touch with someone before calling the police. The owner lives in a residence above the office and there is a call box, I assume, for emergencies. We rang and rang with no answer so we called the police. While filing the police report we come to find out that 2 other units had been discovered broken into the day before and it is clear someone went through and has picked the facilities cylinder locks on several units. The police said they notified the owner the day before that several units have been broken into on her property. The officer said she was not all that cooperative and told him she didn't have time to look at the video surveillance and she'd try to get to it later. He said he didn't trust her so he just asked for the tape to review himself. I understand she has hundreds of units and customers to deal with, but that's the life of a business owner. Care for each customer like they are the only one. We entrusted our possessions to this woman and her "state-of-the-art" security and she failed. And worse, she doesn't seem to care! After the initial two units were discovered, an email should have gone out to every one of her customers notifying them that some burglaries had been discovered and everyone should check there unit as soon as possible. It would have taken her ten minutes!! The only notification I received was two days later, I got a call asking why there were new locks on my units. I said I had changed them because the lock they provided me with was picked and my unit was burglarized. The representative acted as though that was the first he had heard of this. I no longer feel our possessions are safe so we will be driving down there and pulling everything out of both units this weekend and moving to a new facility. It is an extra expense that we have not planned for and an incredible inconvenience. read more

The employees have been super helpful in helping us select the right unit for our space needs, always letting us know the cheapest locations and any specials they have at the moment. They're friendly and knowledgeable and also helped resolve a discrepancy with their corporate offices in setting up my online account. The location is clean, quiet, never crowded, and in a safe residential area. I highly recommend them and will definitely be storing stuff here again if I need to. :) read more

I have been storing my items here for about 4 years and just recently moved out this weekend. I needed one more extra day to move my things and was worried I would be charged for another months rental. After talking with Paul at the front office he let me have the extra day without paying the months rent! He was so understanding and his customer service was amazing!! DO NOT rent from Extra Space Storage at 340 S. Flower St. Orange Ca. 92868 if you care about your stuff!!!! I repeat DO NOT!!! I have rented a unit from them since 2014, the staff was always nice to me. Until Sunday July 29, 2018, I went to my storage to get some of my jewelry, and it was gone. I had at least $5,000 worth of jewelry in my unit, including heirlooms that were going to go to my children, my sons heirloom guitar, my grandsons hot wheel collection, etc. amongst a few other things. You couldn't even tell anyone has broken into my unit. My son and I are the only one who has a key. I went to the office and they were not concerned at all, they just gave me a pamphlet on what to do. And as I filed a police report, the officer said the cameras DO NOT work. And as for the insurance that I pay for every month, it only covers earthquakes and flooding. What the fuck is that!!! I couldn't tell you if it was a inside job or not. Now they don't even talk to me. They treat me like I did something wrong. I am the victim. If anyone has any other recourse I can take for getting to the bottom of this, I appreciate all the input I can get. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!! Tammy L. P.S. Received a follow up call to make sure all went well with moving my things into my storage unit. I would recommend them to anyone. Not really thrilled with a few things....first, I literally moved-in 4 months ago and already had a rate increase. When I called to ask why, I was told that is the "norm" to gradually increase rates within the first 5 months, then the next 9-12 months, and beyond. In other words, the rate will never stay the same or hit a ceiling once you've moved-in. I asked why and the response was "that's just the industry standard for storage places" and "it also funds our upkeep"..well, wasn't the rate I contracted for supposed to do that? Raising rates in an arbitrary fashion once you are "vested" in a space and less willing to move seems deceiving. In addition, this facility isn't exactly "spic and span"......it's quite dirty with trash, massively scuffed walls, and my lock has been tampered with so I now have to buy a new one.
