I brought in 2 pairs of shoes for very simple repairs. One pair needed a resole and another needed the wedge glued back on. I was told to pay ahead - and was even told by the employee that they charge more than other places because their service is so exceptional. I was skeptical about both the price and paying ahead, but like a dope I trusted them. One week later the wedges were not glued on (a day before my trip), but there was glue all over the shoe for no good reason. Another week later they attempted to glue the soles but it didn't stick and I was told they would have to send them to another place. Finally - one month later the work was done. Not only was the service late and shoddy, I was offered no refund, no phone calls and no apologies. One time when I was waiting for help the owner was counting pills on the counter (meds hopefully?) and was not acknowledged until he was done. Specifically, I asked him to look at something after he had given me an offhand estimate, and he refused, saying that he had 30 years (?) experience and did not have to look at it. I brought in suede boots that were worn around the foot bed plus needed new heels. They replaced the heels with even better material and ice hold patterns. And they recolored the boot proper that was worn away creating beautiful new boots for the season. Much better than I even imagined could be done! Very pleased. This a disorganized, chaotic business. Only due to the fact that Perry's left town, we've been forced to use these guys a few times. They misplaced my wife's shoes and after a number of days finally found them. Their actual work is just so-so. I used this place once and will never go back. They lost my boots and took over 20 minutes to find them when I came to pick them up-even though I had my ticket with me. They only did half the work I paid them to do, and they broke the zipper on one of my boots. I didn't realize all of this until I got home and when I called to tell them about it the owner was incredibly rude. He yelled at me, insulted me, and hung up on me - multiple times! It didn't seem like he cared about his reputation or customer satisfaction whatsoever. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because they ultimately ended up completing the work and fixing my boots, but I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I just had to submit a complaint against this business with the better business bureau of colorado. They haven't responded which isn't surprising. First, the number to the Boulder or wheat ridge location don't work. However, when I arrived at the Wheat ridge location, there there was a number listed on the door. I called and a female answered and provided information. On October 27th, I submitted 3 pairs of shoes for polishing and leathering. 2 dress shoes and 1 pair of Birkenstock's. Once there the female recommended I get the heel replaced on one of the dress shoes (Clark's) which I agreed too. I prepaid $75. I was told the shoes would be ready in a week. On November 10th, I sent a text message to the number asking about the status and was told they would be ready. I went and picked them up the next day. One pair of the dress shoes and Birkenstock's were ready, but the heel for the Clark's had not been replaced so I left them and got a new card. I was told they would be ready in about a week. On November 18, I texted the contact number with the female employee and did not get a response. I sent another text on November 19 and again got no response. I got a message on November 23 that stated she would attempt to get an update. On November 30 I called and did not get an answer so I texted. No response. On December 1, I called and left a voicemail. I went to the store, but no one was there. I sent another message to the number and was notified the message was read but no response. I tried to contact the Boulder store but again there is no contact number that works. At this point I am just looking to get my shoes back, I don't care if the heel is replaced or not, they can keep the money. read more

It is a great place to go. I am a firefighter and rely on my boots. Since I had an urgency they promised me the boots would be done and they were done even earlier. The guy working there is not that social of a person and can appear as a bit rough around the edges. He is great though and the work he does is too (I had some heavy duty velcro straps made here before that now hold ladders on a firetruck...). Now known as Shoe Express. I was skeptical when told I needed to pay in advance but figured what the heck. Came back to pick up my shoes three days after they were due, they weren't done. Also it took the clerk (who finally got off the personal call she was engaged in) a good five minutes to locate my shoes in the bottom of a basket. Promised they would be done the next day so went in to get them. They were done but with completely different soles than I had before. Originally they had the knobby Vibram soles. Now they have a smooth sole with the Vibram logo. Does one guy tear off the old sole and another put on the new one? No wonder you pay in advance. Also the place smells like an ashtray which probably violates some Boulder code. Wish I'd gone to Perry's. Now that I know where Perry's moved to I will never go back to this place. read more

I bought a nice pair of heeled boots about two years back and spent a couple hundred on them. That's a lot in my opinion to spend on shoes and they've held up well by there were definitely starting to look worn. I brought them here to get polished up and they look brand new again! Do not bring your shoes here. My thorogood work boots needed a simple repair and I when I was told they were finished, they were done wrong and when I mentioned they were incorrect one of the employees gave me attitude took the boots from my hands and told me he would fix them, being a patient person I let them try again. Get a call the next day saying they were done. Wrong again, I am told they would be ready and would call me the next day, four days go by and no call. I call in ask about them and they say they didn't know what needed to be done and put them on the shelf and left me to chase them down instead of calling for clarification, twice the owner said he would fix then himself and did not, I go in and ask for them back and a full refund to which the owner responded, while yelling at me, "We aren't giving you a f***ing refund." Then another employee yelled at me saying they did $100 worth of repairs (all poorly done). I repeat that I need my money back and the owner responds, "Just give me the f***ing card." After this he blames his employee who is standing behind him and returns my improperly sewn Thorogood boots. Then tells me to ask for him next time I come back. I will never return. Also the place is a mess and they smoke cigarettes inside and everything in there wreaks of an ash tray. With the amount of excuses, lack of correspondence and terrible quality of work, there's no way this place should remain open. (Boulder Location) read more

I have been robbed! I took my shoes in to get repaired and was charged $80.25 (which I payed before the repair was done). When I came to pick up my shoes I was charged an additional $75. before I could get my shoes. I was never asked or informed about the additional cost until I came to get my shoes. I have had a backpack, knife case, belt, two suitcases, and even a pair of boots repaired by extreme. I was satisfied with all the work, and in the case of the backpack above expectations. The work is not easy on the wallet but you get what you pay for. Parking is abundant but the parking lot requires attention to navigate safely. read more

These guys are a little pricy, but they do impeccable, detailed, artful work that is sooooo worth it. They matched new elastic for my red Mary-janes, and got it done before the scheduled time. They also shined them beautifully. True story - the lead guy is a little gruff, but he's very clear about his scheduling and how customers should NOT come pick up before he calls. Once again this place knocks it out of the park. A year ago my partner brought in a pair of Cole Haan hiking boots that were basically destroyed. They rebuilt them including repairing deep gashes in the leather. On my trip to Boulder over Xmas I dropped off my favorite Ann Demeulemeester boots which had significant wear on the heels and soles I just got them back in the mail and they are beautiful, like-new. They even polished them the correct color, a deep purple. They're pricier than other places, but about the same price as I'd pay in NYC. I come here because I trust the work. Besides, $60 to bring a $1200 pair of boots to like-new condition is a pretty good deal. read more

Overpriced and shoddy work. I took two pairs of shoes there to be resoled/stitched and prepaid (should have been a red flag, probably) and was given the date that they would be done. When I went back to get my shoes, one of the pairs hadn't even been touched. We went back to get them on the day they said they would be done and they STILL weren't done. So three trips to retrieve shoes that were not well done. I will definitely not be going back. read more

I had two pairs to have repaired or altered: some old Oren boots, and a custom patterned pair of Neumok from AE. I asked for a full heel replacement on the boots as they were clicking on the heel, and asked for heel taps and Topy for the Neumoks. Both were returned within the week, and both looked fantastic. The heel was blended seamlessly to the rest of the boot, and everything shined very nicely! I am extremely happy with their service and plan on having additional pairs of dress shoes addressed by the shop. It is good to know that there is a shop that is both knowledgable, and treats my heirloom shoes with respect and care. I can't recommend the shop enough! read more

I stopped by this shop to ask for the impossible, I needed new heels on my riding boots and a polish... on a Saturday, at 2:45pm and they close at 5. The shop was cool, with a lazy dog to greet me and a friendly guy who was up to the task. I returned at 4:30pm to find my boots looked fantastic and the heels were great. I've come here for years and been happy with each visit. They've replaced the heels on 2 pairs of boots, including rebuilding some of the sole which I'd worn away past the heel itself. I've also had minor repairs for shoes like the sole delaminating. Each time the price has been fine. The man who runs this store seriously has an attitude problem. When I walked in the store today to pick up something that was being fixed, angry heavy metal music was blasting, and my item was not done yet. The employee coped an attitude about how much work he has to do and blah blah... He slammed down my money back on the counter and told me that he didn't want to deal with my B.S. (although he swore at me). I have never been treated that way before at a store. Also, when I originally dropped off the item, the man was a sexist pig and made me feel inferior, assumably because I am a woman. I think this man needs to go to jail or something. read more

This is by far the best shoe repair place I have ever experienced. I brought some badly damaged black and white spackle shoes for "clean up." The job was absolutely outstanding!! Shoes look like new. They couldn't fix the broken wheel on my luggage. That in of itself is fine, but they kept my bag for over a month. They told me to keep following up. I had to call them every few days to get a status at their request. This was obviously an inconvenience. Every time I asked for an update they said they needed a few more days and to call again. After a month, we just asked for our luggage back and got a refund. Their lack a follow up was a real issue. read more
