I found that he really cares about your animal and takes the time to explain, in layman's terms, what is going on. Then he tells you his opinion and provides recommendations for treatment as well as a prognosis. He has produced amazing results. Dr. Kennard and his team are simply amazing!! I brought my pug Winston in on an emergency due to a ruptured ulcer in his eye. At the time we had been back and forth from the pet hospital and vet due to inflammation all over his body due to demodex(mites). During that time we realized there was also something wrong with his eye and rushed him in. Poor dog was really going through it! We were ecstatic to know he would be okay and his eye would be saved! First and foremost Dr Kennard is the only doctor at this location so for those reading these reviews please disregard the reviews about other doctors. My dog Brody and I love Dr Kennard. I have been to several veterinary ophthalmologists and he is hands down the best. He takes his time to thoroughly explain everything and answer all your questions. He also truly listens to what you have to say. Hes great at managing expectations which I appreciate because I've been promised things by other doctors and it just ended in disappointment. He's very knowledgeable and it puts me at ease because I never have to question anything he tells me. The office staff is great as well. Never have a problem getting messages returned and getting prescriptions filled. Just an all around great experience. So thankful we found Dr Kennard. read more

Poor Dexter got an ulcer on his cornea. My regular vet sent me here to have it checked out. It was bad enough that they immediately took him in back to get prepped for surgery. Near tears, they assured me he'd be ok. My biggest fear wasn't the surgery, it was the cost. Thankfully, they offer a few different payment options. We have since been back for 2 check-ups. Every time we go, everyone is excited to see Dexter. They told me they changed their mind about rat terriers because of his upbeat, friendly disposition. He's 12 pounds of fury! The staff is awesome. Thank you to Dr. Barrett and to the entire staff of Eye Care for Animals for saving my dog's eye after an ulcer. The receptionist, and all of the nurses were BEYOND extraordinary and I truly felt that they cared about my pup. I never had to wait in the waiting room or in the exam room more than about 7 minutes, which is very appreciated due to my hectic work schedule. After about a month of healing after surgery, my dog's eyesight has returned and his last stitch was removed today!! I took my 7 year old Bassett hound in because her left eye started going grey and after being mis treated by squaw peak animal hospital for a week with no results and being treated for the wrong diagnosis twice. They were the nicest people. They spent over an hour with my dog testing and checking her out. She has glaucoma which I guess is common for Bassett hounds. I won't lie, it is not cheap seeing a specialist for her eye but they really know what they are doing and it was worth every penny it it helps save her other eye from going blind. Our beautiful 4-month-old Cocker puppy suddenly developed severe 'cherry eye' in both eyes and we were referred by our vet to Eye Care For Animals where we met with Dr. Sigler. From front office staff to the Doctor, we were very impressed with all aspects of this practice, and scheduled surgery for little Mia. Yesterday, Dr. Sigler operated on her, and it is so awesome to see her brown eyes normal again. In 2015, my dog had severe dry eye or KCS. Dr. Barrett had treated my dog multiple times in a short span of several months, each time her eyes getting worse. After trying multiple medications, the inflammation and disease progressed, the doctor stated that I have to deal with the fact that she will be blind soon. Fast forward a few months, I met another doctor from the Eye Care for Animals clinic in Avondale. She had explained that there are other medications that were more appropriate for my dog. Upon the first visit at the Avondale clinic, we tried the medications and my dogs eyes have improved 80%. She is no longer going blind and has been doing great! Please, if you struggle with this facility, go see Dr. Norman in Avondale at the Eye Care for Animals clinic. She truly loves her job and she loves our pets! When my shih tsu developed a hyphema (blood filling the eye by the lens) I was horrified to think she would lose her eye. I was referred her from vca mesa. Within 15 minutes she was seen, I had an estimate for meds, surgery, and after care. I fortunately did not need to call after hours, but that is an option. The cost for surgery and all care exceeded 2000 dollars, so it's fair to say that one needs to either have a high limit credit card, good credit, or a lot of cash to pay for care here. They don't accept insurance, you'll need to pay first and seek reimbursement later (my experience). I'm glad we came here, my shih tsu is back to normal. read more

Took my cat here when I noticed a black spot in his eye. They recommended laser surgery. It was expensive, but went smoothly. Unfortunately the spots recurred and they recommended that the eye be removed. This was a big decision, and another big expense, but they were all very supportive. Dr. Barrett took the time to explain everything to me. The vet techs and front office staff were all very nice and took the time to make follow up calls after the surgeries. As soon as the pathology report came back they called with the results: Melanoma. Stage 1, so we caught it early and my cat has a good prognosis. Please don't ignore any irregularities in your pets' eyes--bring them here for a check up. read more

My nine year old bird dog was going blind from cataracts. When I first got the quote to remove the cataract I gulped but the results were excellent. We came in after being referred to have my dogs eye looked at by a specialist because they thought he had an object lodged in his eye. I brought him to ECFA and immediately everyone was so kind. They told me Gizmo needs surgery and I bawled my eyes out, one at the fact that my poor dog needed eye surgery and secondly because it was going to cost a fortune. I cried, they comforter me and made me feel better and helped me apply for a Care Credit. Had it not been for their kindness and helping me through that moment, I would have had a panic attack. Gizmo was in wonderful spritz when he was picked up after surgery and in great shape. They took amazing care of him and I am so thanf il for their hard work and sweet words. I took my dog Henry to this place for a scratch on his cornea. My regular vet gave me their information. They put a cone on him, gave me two eye drops and told me to come back in two weeks. A day and half later, his eye looked much worse and when I called them, they seemed uninterested. They asked for a picture which I took and sent. They did call back a couple of hours later and said just to continue the drops--it was too early for any other treatment. I also sent the picture to Henry's regular vet who called immediately and had me come in. She was very concerned and sent me to an emergency animal clinic since it was late Friday evening--they agreed with her that it was a melting cornea and Henry was there for 5 days. I now have a new Ophthalmologist who cares and she is trying to save Henry's eye. Eye Care for Animals was a terrible experience and I'm still not sure if his eye can be saved--they never called back again to check on him. I would NEVER recommend them. read more
