I came to realize over time, however, that my expectations were inappropriate. Dr. Frey does eye exams and sells glasses and contact lenses. That's it. He only does it three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, regular business hours only. No evenings. No Saturday hours. If you need glasses or contacts, and you are available mid-week, this is probably fine for you. You're probably a senior citizen, and you like getting your business done on weekdays, when the crowds are less. Apparently Dr. Frey is the only optometrist on staff. I called on one of his business days when my elderly relative, a resident of Hobart, needed to see an eye doctor right away. The receptionist told me Dr. Frey had a family emergency, and there was no other doctor in the office. No criticism of taking time off for a family emergency; however, it showed that this business is a one-man show. There's no back-up for him. I called his office on another occasion, when a second elderly relative had an eye infection of some sort. I was referred to the hospital emergency room. Dr. Frey only does business by appointment, and does not make room in his schedule for an unexpected illness. You see, I had this idea, this crazy idea, that Dr. Frey was more than he wants to be. I thought he might be acting as a physician, and that he would see people who have eye problems, eye emergencies, and the like. I was wrong. He wants to do eye exams, and sell stuff. If he sees anyone who actually might have an ongoing disease process, he refers them to another practice. He's got himself a pretty sweet deal. I wish I could work three days a week and make enough to live a comfortable life. So, Dr. Frey is what he is. If you can manage your expectations, and think of him as no different than some retail optometry chain in the mall, but with really lousy business hours, you'll probably be fine. Just don't expect real medical care here.

It went away in a few wks. I use my reading glasses much less, as the ones I have now aren't right anyway, but will be perhaps getting new reading glasses for very fine print. Other than that, I can see everything much clearer and brighter all around me. I don't have the blasting glare from sun in my eyes to drive during the day, and I think night driving will be ok too, I just haven't done that much of it yet. On April 27, 2023, our 93 yr. old grandmother along with her caretaker, came to this establishment for an appointment at 12pm. They were dropped off by a medical van transportation company (as she is in a wheelchair). Well, a situation occurred with the transportation company as there was a delay in picking them up. I got involved all the way from Georgia to see what the heck was going on. After family members made multiple calls to the transportation vendor (company that dispatch out), I actually spoke with the driver who transported her there and she was actually stuck in Illinois. Even though, a lie was told earlier to her daughter that it would be 45 minutes to a one hour (which they should have been picked up by 2-2:30pm); it was going to take her more than 2 hours to get back. I call the vendor to see if they had emergency back-up to pick up our grandmother and as with everything else, they didn't have another van that could come and get her as it would still take one to three hours if she was pulled from the current driver and placed with another company. So that left us with having to find someone else to come and sit with my grandmother as her caretaker got off at 3pm. However, what I didn't know is that this business also closed at 3pm. Now, what behooved me, as I made arrangements for some other family members to come and sit with our grandmother and one to take the caretaker to her car, this freaking business put our grandmother and her caretaker out of the establishment at 2:55pm because they promptly closed at 3pm. WHAT FREAKING BUSINESS YOU KNOW THAT WOULD DO THIS TO A DEFENSELESS 93-YEAR-OLD MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, and GREAT-GRANDMOTHER??? Let me ask a rhetorical question: Dr. John Czaja, Dr. Katie Fesko, Lynette, April, and any other employees that were there, you mean to tell me that neither one of you all could have waited past 3pm, to ensure that our grandmother, who WAS supporting this business, was picked up safely? Whoever worked this pass Thursday, you all left them outside and walked to your car like you didn't have a care in this world. This is not over, and you will never, ever, do this to another person. I just wonder if it was a person that LOOKED like you would you have done this? Our family didn't appreciate how this situation occurred. As a person that has been in the customer service business for over 30 years NEVER in a million years would I have done this to someone supporting a business that I worked for. You all have left a bad, foul, taste in our mouths. Keep in mind that other people that made ride medical vans to your establishment that anything can happen, that the patient coming to see you has nothing to do with. However, as a business that's been serving the community as your bio states for 20 years, you absolutely didn't show compassion nor show a great relationship to our grandmother. This establishment owes our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother an apology for what was done. Keep in mind the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!!!!!!!
