I got eye glasses last year and would highly recommend them from that experience. However, this year I went to get a new pair.... they went over my benefits. I picked out sun glasses, paid the extra money... when I went to pick them up they had a regular clear lens and not sunglass lens even though they were the sunglass frame. They explained to me I would need to pay extra to get them tinted to look like sunglasses. Makes no sense at all. There's an eye glass store on every corner. I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I needed to get my eyes checked out since it had been two years and I was new to Irvine so I asked a friend and he pointed me in Eyecare West OC's direction. I gave them a call and they set me up with an appointment very fast and only a few days out. When I arrived I was greeted, the office was nice and very clean and I didn't wait one second I signed in, (had all my forms filled out that I down loaded), and I was on my way getting my appointment started, 5 mins early no less. Wesley helped mom select a frame that updated her look, and could handle her progressive lens prescription. He gave us all the different lens options and prices. We did not feel rushed at all. After reading many positive reviews I decided to try out this optometrist. The staff are all nice and not much waiting time. But I was not too happy with Dr.Fong as I felt that he was trying to get me into believing things and as a new patient I just listened to what he was saying. I did not want to be rude to him so I decided to go with his recommendation . But when the glasses arrived and I wore them for the first time I was just shocked. I understand that the first few weeks it takes time to adjust but this was a just a big difference. I have had glasses before but never this big difference. I was later told that I have prism added to my prescription which I had not know at all. If the doctor was going to add something other than lenses #'s he should have openly told me but he did not. I am lucky that I have friends who are optometrist and just by looking at the prescription they questioned why Prisms? After emailing the doctor he has agreed to give full refund but money is not the only thing in life. We got to doctors to get help in different things....and if a doctor recommends something he should openly tell the patient that we will add Prism or whatever it would have been. Not just blindly say that this is the numbers of the lenses and that is it. read more

I had scheduled an appointment 2 weeks beforehand and was helped instantly when I came in early for my appointment. Dr. Fong was very professional and knew what he was doing and wasn't busy trying to sell me their products. I was walked through what my insurance covered and was given a variety of options to choose from after my exam. They share an office building with another optometrist so make sure to check in correctly to the right desk. Although they don't have the biggest selection of frames, if you bring your own, they can still put lenses in (which is always nice if you knew exactly what frames you want). read more

5 Star Service! I reached out to Eye Care West because I was at work and one of my contacts fell out. I needed some trial pair immediately and Emily helped me right away. They were the ONLY office who'd allow me to get some without having been a patient. I knew they had to be my new eye place. I saw Dr. Huang a few weeks later and he was so nice and welcoming. I had glasses already so I didn't need to get new ones but then they cracked in half after my appointment and so I needed a replacement ASAP. Again, helpful as ever, Wesley mentioned that they aren't able to get glasses made for me asap but they have another office in Cerritos that could do it. He got all my info over to the office without further question and called the office to let them know my situation. He went above and beyond! Time and time again, this team has saved me! I needed new glasses. I wanted two pair of glasses one for computer work and one for distance for driving. They pushed for progressive lens. I absolutely hated them. The Dr. rechecked my eyes and suggested to give it another week or two to see if I would get used to them. No deal, I hated them. After two weeks I told them the problem and they replaced them with single vision lens. No Cost, No Hassle. The Dr's hire friendly helpful people. I will return here again.My only complaint is that their selection of frames are all the latest styles. If you're an old dinosaur like me they didn't have what I really preferred. read more

But I can honestly say I have nothing negative to say about Eye Care West. The receptionists are friendly, atmosphere is welcoming, and most of all Dr. Fong is very thorough, very gentle and he shows that he cares. Dr. Huang is equally thorough, and very kind. It is easy to schedule appointments and they send you a confirmation by text a day or two before your appointment which was helpful. The office has always been on time when I've arrived, and they take you in the back right away. The office is super clean and all the staff are very helpful and kind. The eye tests are all explained and quick to complete. Service here is great. I called to make sure my insurance worked there - it did! They were able to schedule an appointment a few days later that that worked with my work hours. I filled out my paperwork online to save time. When I got there everything was ready to go and I was seen within 5 minutes. The entire staff was super friendly. I appreciate that they wipe down the machines right before you use them so you know they're squeaky clean. Dr. Fong is hands down the nicest of my doctors. I ended up getting prescription glasses, (they don't really try to "sell you" or pressure you into getting anything from them) my costs vs. insurance's portion was explained clearly. That time of year again...another trip to the eye doctor. Well, once again, I received the best in patient care and service from the team at Eye Care West OC in Foothill Ranch. This is a real review based on my personal experience. First off, I have gone to see Dr. Fong, for many years now and my whole family now sees Dr. Fong for their eye care needs. Not once, did I have to sit and wait. I arrive on time for my appointment and I am taken in quickly (no more than a 1 to 3 minute wait based on my experience) to begin the analysis and exam process. No hassle. I worked with Jan this time who did all of the pre-doctor visit analysis using the various machines (keratometer, tonometer, etc.) and she was great. She answered any questions I had and kept me informed during the whole process. As for Dr. Fong, he is outstanding and I highly recommend him for your eye care needs. I have never felt rushed nor have I ever been treated like just a number. He takes his time, does a thorough exam and keeps you informed of what he finds. He asks lots of questions to determine if anything changed since the last visit and explains things very clear so they are understandable. All in all, the team and Dr. Fong are thorough and provide a pleasant experience for the whole process.
