Went in for an exam because of a special offer and all I got was ruined lenses! I will NOT be back. I guess you really do get what you pay for. I have never been so dissatisfied with an office visit in my life. I'm wondering how everyone else gave such great reviews. After putting numbing drops in my eyes to check my eye pressure I was told to put my contacts back in. What I didn't know was that the drops will dye your contacts. When I asked the Dr. About this he says well that sometimes happens. So you KNEW and still told me to do something that could effect my contacts. What's wrong with you?! This is really sad because the doctor was amazing. Unfortunately the front desk staff did not keep record of my order of a 6 month supply of contacts. I've called monthly about my order being told the same thing every time "they've had problems with the people they order from" and eventually stopped calling as much. I did even go in once to figure it out and they offed me a trial to get me through the order wait. Well now I've been told that they got rid of some staff and that they probably did something wrong because they have no record of my order and they implied that I was to blame for waiting so long to get this handled. all they could offer was for me to repurchase it. Dr Kim is by far the best optometrist I've ever encountered! He's knowledgeable, personable, and super sweet, but his staff on the other hand... Not so much. The ladies there were rude and unprofessional. They had attitudes and didn't seem to want to help you. After all was done, I was told that my glasses would be ready in 7 business days, I received mine 3 weeks later.... They do not inform you when order was delayed or had issues nor do they call to update you on the status. Also, I was told that they would email my prescription, which I also had to ask 3 times to finally get. I really wanted this place to work out because the doctor was so great, but will not be returning due to the bad customer service. read more

Dr. Lim is a wonderful person. She's very caring and warming. Once you go in, she starts friendly conversations with you and instantly you feel like you've been there for a long time. I went with my cousin because her contacts were not fitting her well from her previous optometry. She went b/c of the groupon deal and boy was she happy to go there. I also went in for a consultation for Ortho-K with Dr. Kim and he's awesome! He instantly knows about your eyes and your daily habits. It's nice to know there are experienced doctors. They're not money crazy-- if they think you shouldn't waste money they will tell you that instead of trying to convince you to sell their products. there's few things i love more than a great deal for high quality services/products. i got a groupon for a contact lens exam + full eye exam (glaucoma check included) for only $39!! my entire experience here was great -- i was able to call and make an appointment with ease and was happy to hear they were open on saturdays as well. the place was a little hard to locate since there's several business complexes on the street, but i think it was a plaza one or two over from the $3 theater plaza. dr.kim was personable and thorough. he explained everything about my eyes and made it easy to understand. his staff were also very friendly. i never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything like you might find at other optometrist offices. the entire experience was easy breezy and painless in every way. if you wear acuvue oasys, i recommend just buying from here because some contact lens companies pretty much agreed to fixed prices for several contacts brands (including that one), so even costco won't give you lower prices (i checked). i know contacts can see to add up, but a year supply comes out to probably as much as your gym membership....and though i'm a huge supporter of finding deals, don't cheap out on your eyes. read more

Scheduled an appt for my hubbys contact lens exam last year and he said the place was "good" so I decided to schedule him again here this year. Boy was I surprised! "Good" does not cut it! This place is great! The staff is friendly, the place is clean but as a medical professional, you always are critical of the doctor's care. Dr Kim is extremely kind, professional and knowledgeable. He took his time to answer all our questions and was even chatty with our toddler. The kids and i are not quite due for our eye exams yet but i know who my new eye doctor will be! Goodbye costco... I brought my son here to get a pair of eyeglasses. We chose this place because of its proximity and because of a Groupon offering. It took about five tries to contact them via phone to set up an appointment; messages left were not returned. Poor communication occurred also when we attempted to find out when the eyeglasses were ready. When we picked up the glasses, it was more or less a hand-over of the glasses, without any offer to ensure that they fit properly. I do not recommend them. read more

I highly recommend this place! My overall experience with this office was great and what I had hoped for. They have clean and sanitary practices and explain everything well so that the patient understands the necessary steps. Dr. Se Lim was very helpful, thorough, and empathetic so I absolutely trust her judgment. Turns out I should have been with this type of lens a long time ago due to excessively dry eyes but no other eye doc thought to recommend them. Great customer service from front desk staff also. Stanley Kim is the most incompetent optometrist I have ever come across in my 48 years of eye exams. The mistakes began with an otherwise simple dilation using too strong (or the wrong) solution that could have done serious eye damage. It took 2 days before my eyes returned to normal, not to mention the serious headaches the drops caused! In the same 20 minute initial appointment, he followed that blunder with another error in judgment. It was immediately AFTER the dilation that he had me put the new trial lenses in my eyes! There was NO WAY he was going to know whether they were the right prescription! My vision was impaired and the new lenses were quickly ruined by the drops he used. He did NO vision testing after having me put the new lenses in my eyes. He must have known he wouldn't have to bother doing the tests. In his rush to get me out the door, he had simply fitted the new (ruined) lenses using the same exact prescription that I had been given five years earlier for an outdated lens that has since seen the release of (not one, but) two newer, more effective versions. The trial lenses he gave me were ruined, but they were the latest version. At least that was what I had been told. I went for a follow up appointment a week later because I didn't think my experience could be that bad again. I was wrong. The follow-up so-called vision exam lasted 15 seconds. In such a short time, he could not have determined anything, even if he were qualified. He asked me and I told him my vision was better with the old lenses. That made it convenient for him to take the easy way out. Instead of correctly taking the time to adjust the prescription of the new lenses, he took the shortcut and wrote a prescription for my old brand and strength. So this guy who pretends to be an optometrist is not just thoroughly unqualified, he's also lazy. The combination is dangerous. If you made the mistake of making an appointment, cancel it before any damage is done. read more

My doctor, a gentleman, (Dr. Kim), was very personable! He was easy to talk to and throughout the whole appointment he explained everything with visualaids and in terms I could understand. When I first went to Eye Contact Optometry, it was because it was close to where I lived. The service I received was from an experienced professional who was also very caring, patient and kind. The office and doctor was equipped with great up-to-date tools for the trade. Dr Kim was also an expert at using the tools. The office was clean and welcoming. I had all my questions answered without feeling rushed. I recently moved about 25 minutes away but still very happy to make the drive and use Eye Contact Optometry and Dr. Kim's services for my entire family. He's definitely my optometrist of choice. They are well prepared and ready to over charge you. Be cautious and ask if there is any other fees associated with the service you are getting because once they get you then you are in trouble. They are at convenient location and friendly for Irvine residents, but also probably means ready to over charge to cover their high office rental fees. This place cheats so many people, especially young children who Dr. Kim coaxes the parents into doing the OrthoK lenses. These lenses are controversial among many other opthamologists because they make children who are still growing and maturing wear them. My family has had the worst experience. All of our eyes got botched by wearing Dr. Kim's OrthoK lenses. When we confronted the problems, he did not listen and managed to insinuate with contempt that it was our problem not his. He failed to tell us the symptoms, risks or even what you needed to to do to take the contacts off with ease. It was a nightmare taking them off every god awful time. Our corneas have been severely damaged and infected after wearing them for a year. When glasses are ordered, they take SEVERAL WEEKS to arrive. One pair of sunglasses took a total of 4 weeks to arrive! The selection range to choose from is very narrow and the quality of the glass frames and lenses are so poor--- they scratch easily and make squeaky noises every time you put them on. Not to mention, the staff is very unprofessional. The younger girl speaks and acts like a child, the older man scans the place like a hawk making the environment very uncomfortable to sit in and wait, and the older woman is very dreary. Insultingly, the staff disclosed that Dr. Kim doesn't have a home mortgage so there is nothing for us to sue even if we wanted to be compensated for the damages for our eyes. WARNING: do not trust his promises that these contacts will IMPROVE your eyesight. Yes, maybe they stop the prescription from getting higher, but the claims he makes are simply not true from experience. They will AGGRAVATE the natural strength and health of your eyes and the damage may be irreparable for months. Manage your eyes YOURSELF with eye exercises, plenty of water, and a good diet. read more

Professional looking office with all the modern tools. It seems like a Korean run business, so everyone on staff speaks Korean & English. Unfortunately, I tried this with a Groupon (and you get what you pay for). I was hoping to save money from my very expensive optometrist and ended up spending more than I bargained for and ending with glasses I can't use. My exam misdiagnosed my distance vision & astigmatism. I had to return 4 separate times and each time I had different results! I was recommended that I may need 4 or 5 different glasses because my vision "changed throughout the day"! That is a farce and tells me the doctors (yes, I was seen by Both doctors) don't have experience in this science. I guess I'm stuck with glasses I paid $250 out-of-pocket with $129 coupon value. I now have the most expensive reading glasses ever! I'm going back to my previous optometrist...it's not worth spending time & money on a staff that doesn't care well...or doctors that do mediocre work. read more

Dr. Kim is our family eye doctor. We started seeing him for my daughter after too many bad experiences with corrective lenses, right away he knew what to do and her vision was corrected in the first try. After this success we got my son with corrective lenses, his vision now is 20/15 and better some times. My husband started right after with the corrective hard lenses and loves the freedom of living without glasses. Finally my yearly check-up came up and I have my glasses done there. We cannot say nothing but the best about this doctor and his office. I feel that Dr. Kim and his receptionist/assistant always go the extra mile for their patients. Dr Kim is very professional. His calm and friendly manner creates an welcoming atmosphere for asking questions. The eye exam was thorough and he explains what is he's inspecting/examining voluntarily. I had a groupon with me but was still treated like a serious patient. The office is clean, with a large TV running an EYE101 info session and a super comfortable sofa. No one is pushy in the office for you to buy a service/frames/contacts. The assistant is a bit timid but I'm there to see the doctor. The office is conveniently located in the woodbridge mall right across from the lake, so you can catch a cheap movie or go for a walk by the lake after the exam. I would definitely come back should I need an exam again. read more

Great experience. They honored their Groupon Rate of $59 which was much less than any other place I could go to with my VSP insurance. Its such a pain to get an exam every year when you have been wearing contacts as long as I have... but Eye Contact made it a dream! i was running late for my appointment but the doctor stayed late and saw me which was nice as a I was desperate. I then got a more accurate diagnosis for my eye concerns then I have had in years of going to target optical - and he recoed a new lens for me which is working out great. when i went to order today, i quickly got my prescription when I requested by phone but then had to call back to order their lenses as their prices were so much lower and also they take VSP so in fact...my lenses were totally covered! 1800contacts did not appear to take the VSP. All in all feeling lucky to have found this place!
