I have to agree with the recent reviews. The eye doctor is definitely good. He's very nice, he takes his time with you, he explains everything, he is understanding and clear. Would recommend him. The women in the back who deal with the contact lenses are also very nice and easy to deal with. But the front area is a mixed bag. Some of them up there are very nice and respectful and helpful. But a couple others are irritable, fake sweet (calling you "honey" and "sweetie"), and are quite pushy and manipulative when it comes to buying frames. Those people will immediately show you the most expensive ones, assuming that everyone wants to drop $700 or $800 on the frames alone (before the price of the lenses and all else are added). They do a lot of fast talking with the numbers and they tell you everything you put on your face looks absolutely fantastic. And if you want something less expensive, they will look irritated. They won't even show you a range of prices unless you push for that. And there was a feature on the frames I got that was unusual and it was not pointed out to me, which it should have been as a courtesy because it was not obvious and would have changed my decision to buy it. Again, this is not all of the employees in front, but one or two in particular and the other ones seem fine. Bottom line: Come here for your eye exam and contact lenses, and if you want to purchase glasses, they do have a wide range of decent frames. But don't be afraid to be assertive if certain salespeople try to push you to buy outside of your budget. read more

And then there's Maria -- the pinnacle of condescension. If the goal was to show me how unprofessional and unpleasant one person can be in under five minutes, she deserves an award. 11/18 Update: still no glasses 11/10: I picked this eye doctor because they were in my insurance network and thought it would make things easier. Weeks later, I'm still waiting for my glasses with no updates unless I call. My insurance covered $250 for the frames, and I paid $150 out of pocket, so they received $400 total for basic glasses that haven't arrived. Meanwhile, my Warby Parker pair with the same prescription and add-ons cost $145 total and arrived in a week. As others have shared in their reviews, I'd describe this office as disorganized and generally not respectful of people's time. That may reflect how things are managed overall, not necessarily the individuals themselves, but the fact that they admit they can't email customers updates in 2025 is both bizarre and inefficient. A simple weekly email or text update system would go a long way in improving customer experience, but they don't seem interested in that. read more

The man at the front is unbelievably rude. He absolutely must be fired. I have never entered a business where I have been treated this way. I can't even begin to explain how much of a rude person he is. I went in for a simple annual eye check and was met with lies and deceit. I would just like to say that the service here was top tier. I was greeted by Damian as I walked in. Damian check me in right away for my 12:30pm appt. I saw Dr. Ruvio and I was very pleased with his thoroughness with my eyes so that I could get a prescription for new glasses. Dr. Ruvio was excellent. The young lady named Georgia was very kind,helpful and patient with me in selecting a pair of glasses.The final process was done with Damian who did my measurements for my very beautiful glasses which both Damian and Georgia agreed that the glasses fit me beautifully. First, let me say that the doctor is great. Friendly, thorough exam. Answered all of my questions. Very happy with prescription both for eyeglasses and contacts. Second, do not buy the glasses or contacts here. As the other reviewers mentioned, the upselling is aggressive and uncomfortable. I saw a frame I liked and asked if it was available in a different color. The salesperson actually said no, and would not back off until I pulled the frame up on my phone and showed her that it came in several different colors, including one I preferred. She clearly just wanted to sell me what she had in stock, and I had to convince her to order the color I wanted. Next problem, the lenses. I ordered progressives and it took weeks for them to come in. Then I was told the lenses had to be cut to fit the frames. More time elapses. Long story short, I had my new glasses about two months later. Contacts were similarly delayed. When I needed to get the glasses adjusted, the same salesperson was super put out. I spent well over $1,000, and expect professional customer service. Next time, I will be going down the street to another store. read more

I had a terrible experience at Eye to Eye where they told me they were ordering new frames for me and then tried to do a bait and switch and send me home with old scratched frames from the display case, instead of the new frames I had paid for. In addition, the measurements were wrong and I couldn't see with the prescription. Dr. Ruvio - who runs this entire shady operation - apologized and made sure I received new frames and corrected the prescription. He told me to come back anytime and they would take care of me. Fast forward more than a year and I made an appointment today for an eye exam and planned to purchase new frames and lenses. I arrived early at 11:20am for my scheduled 11:30am appointment. At 11:40am I asked how much longer it would be because I had another appointment and I was told 15 minutes. 15 minutes came and went and finally after waiting 45 minutes I had to leave. But not before they tried to get me to stay offering a phony discount. Every time I go to this place I have a problem. I was a fool for giving Eye to Eye a second chance. Don't make the same mistake I made. They treat customers poorly and clearly do not value your business. STAY AWAY! read more

Very poor front desk customer service. Office is completely unorganized. The doctor's are very nice and helpful, especially dr. Ruvio. The front line staff, for the exception of Iris, are awful. They are either rude or incompetent. They have zero respect for your time, every time I go there have to wait over 30 minutes; last time I waited an hour and 15 mins, and nobody apologized nor informed about the cause of the delay. Going to the DMV is bad enough, but honestly, the stock "it's like the DMV" line doesn't really match up to reality. Truth is, the real DMV has actually modernized and is pretty swift and quick. If you DO want, however, the 1970s DMV experience, come here for your DMV vision test. I did, and after a half hour, had about enough and cabbed it over to other optician. Awful, from customer service on the phone to customer service in person , how are they in business?!? Needed a prescription for contacts, called them to ask if I need an appointment to get eye exam, they said yes hood 1 minute. 5 minutes, 10 minutres on hhold, maybe they're busy, I decide to go in person, I get there , hard to tell who works there, several people just sitting around, seems like only 1 person helping and she is with someone, I ask a person behind desk if it's possible to see the eye doctor, she says yes but it may be 30-45 minute wait, I say ok and she says "give me a minute". She goes off and forgets about me, starts doing something else and doesn't care. There are others that start asking customers walking in if they need help but nothing of the people that have been waiting for at least half hour. What a horribly managed place, every eyeglass business I've been to has been "in and out" , I got up and left after 40 minutes of ZERO customer service, never again. read more

Making appointments online is confusing. You never get a confirmation email,, so you have to call up and confirm your appointment. Somehow they are always running behind on appointments and the weekend is like a zoo in here. It was less like a zoo when I went here on a rainy Saturday, probably because no one wanted to leave their house. The eye doctor that completes the exam is very nice and takes time to speak with you to know your options and what's going on with your prescription. The older man with glasses and grey hair who helps you pick out glasses is friendly and knowledgeable. He does try to upsell you, but not in an annoying way. He is pleasant when you speak with him. The older woman with glasses can seem a little frazzled but she goes try to help you. She just always seems to be running around. The middle aged woman with long red/blonde hair is snarky and curt. She tried to upsell me on expensive frames and I politely told her I just wanted to see frames within my insurance allowance. Once she knew she couldn't sell me $500 frames, her entire attitude changed to sour. She checked me out without speaking a word to me other than to confirm my payment method and kept slamming down papers and pens while she was doing it. Then she started whispering to another employee while I was standing right there. Whispering in front of customers is rude and inconsiderate, I don't care if you aren't even speaking about me. It just looks bad. When she was done checking me out, she tossed my receipt on the counter and then proceeded to sit in a chair texting on her phone. She should brush up on customer service skills. A decent place for an eye exam overall, and they have a nice selection of frames. Just don't get sucked into spending more than you want. read more

I have been a long-time customer at the location for eye glasses and contact lenses. I don't leave reviews, but this experience must be shared. I had an appointment with Dr. Cooper on May 25, 2023, and I was to receive a new trail of contact lens that he customized for me to try out. As per Iris, I would receive the try outs in 5 to 10 business days from the appointment date then i would be able to place the 6 months order and have it in time for my vacation at the end of June. Over 3 weeks pass, and i call as a reminder. I spoke to Iris. Iris said the tryouts were not ordered, and the prescribed contact lens isn't carried in the stores. This delay has caused an inconvenience to my travel plans. This is irresponsible and unprofessional. I mentioned to Iris that i would stop by on Tuesday, and Iris responded okay see you on Tuesday." Today, I arrived at the place at 5:50pm. l waited in line as soon as i arrived. Only one person was ahead of me. A Caucasian male arrives and skips me in line. JUANA greets him and does not greet me. JUANA discriminated against me the moment i arrived at the store. I am standing in front of her, and she made eye contact with me a few times while i waited in line. JUANA finishes with a customer and then walks away to avoid me. Then, JUANA returns after 2 minutes and assists me. I explained the situation with Iris, how i came by to pick up the lens, and the lack of inconveniences it has caused me for my vacation. As i explained, JUANA caught an attitude and then proceeded with more attitude as she asked questions. JUANA continued to interrupt me as i answered her questions. JUANA raised her voice at me in front of other customers and workers, then proceeded to walk away, as i was speaking to her. How is this type of behavior tolerated? I kept my professional composure the entire time. JUANA was frustrated from the very beginning of when i walked into the store because it was the end of her shift. I was the last customer for her to assist. JUANA grabbed her belongings and walked out of the store. JUANA didn't finish the transaction with me. Then JUANA came back inside to speak to the manager for a brief moment. How professional to leave a customer unattended? JUANA is the worst customer representative at this place. This place has really nice people. JUANA should not work at this place if she is going to interact with customers in that manner. No one should encounter disgruntal, disrespectful, unprofessional, and discrimination. My insurance doesn't cover much other than the exam. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could, and for reference, I'll split the rating: 4+ for the eye exams itself-the doctor's there have always been skilled, nice, and accommodating. They take my insurance and we're super convenient to where I used to live and have weekend hours which really helped. For the people at the front counter and those helping you find frames, that's another story. I think the frames are overpriced for starters, and every time I'm there and I ask to see a frame or try one on, it always feels like I'm trying their patience. Which if you think of it, and you were buying anything else for $150 to $350 at any retail store, you'd want to look around, try it on... that pressure and feeling like I was an imposition (and of course the cost and the selection), was what made me go to Warby Parker for the glasses. I have no idea whether the doctor is good or bad, since I never got to see him. I made an appointment online, and the web site said I would get a confirmation email. It never arrived. On the day of the appointment I called at noon to confirm the 1:30 appointment. When I explained that I had not received a confirmation email, I was told that was because the slot was unavailable... Before they even asked who I was. So it is clear that failing to confirm appointments is standard operating procedure. At noon I made an appointment for 2:30. I arrived at 2:15 and was told the doctor was running 30 minutes behind. After waiting an hour, I asked how long and was told a half an hour. I told them to skip it and left. read more

I was so surprised to see negative reviews on this place! I've never had a better experience with an optometrist or glasses place- they make every effort to help me out. The doctor is old school, as in does a full exam, actually listens, and explains. The staff has been there forever and is a bit grumpy (but certainly not by NY standards!). I've had eye issues (scratched my eye) and they made every effort to get me in same day-maybe that's why you all had to wait? In any case, I love them so much that even four years after leaving NY I've kept them as my optometrist...I'd rather fly back to see a good doctor than to deal with someone who doesn't know what they're doing. read more

the doctor himself if very nice and was actually the first doctor to catch I have slight astigmatism (I've been going to the eye doctor for over 15 years). that's the smoothest part of the appointment. the front desk is never helpful. my insurance changed since last years visit and they didn't make me feel as ease while looking for the benefits. luckily all worked out on that end but the associate was rushing me to find frames I wanted (which happened to me last year as well, hence me needing to schedule another appointment since i hated me glasses I was rushed into picking). she mustve worked on commission because she brought me right over to the Tom Ford branded frames, coming out to over $600 when all said and done. when I tried to pick cheaper frames she told me "those dont look nice". since I only wear my glasses when I'm home (and to bed) I cannot morally spend that much on them. she wouldnt let me browse around, instead would hastily tally up the price of every frame I said I possibly liked rather than allowing me to compare them to other possibilities. after I made her show me cheaper frames, the price ended up being around $175 and I could tell she wasn't happy. after discussing with me sister, I should just gone to Warby Parker and had more selection, for a potential cheaper price. read more

My first visit was today and YES I will be back. The staff helped me choose a frame and explained right away what my insurance would cover and what cost would be. That took so much stress out of my visit. I did had to wait about 45 minutes to have my exam- but I read in reviews that sometimes they get backed up- so was ready to wait. And it was well worth the wait. I felt at ease with the doctor and he answered my questions and explained everything! I hadn't had my eyes checked in over 10 years so was both anxious and embarrassed. I will be going back again for my next visit and look forward to picking up my glasses next week. read more
