I have been a long time patient having seen Dr. Sullins when the practice was Winton, Sullins, and Lee. Since EyeCare Associates bought the practice, the service has been poor. I continued to see Dr. Sullins because of the years of care he provided and his experience and expertise. Since he retired, I decided to try Dr. Lee and also find his experience and expertise to be excellent. Here's the latest: [[HIGHLIGHT]]after my last exam, Dr. Lee recommended I try a lower power contact lens. He walked the few steps to the optical and returned saying they didn't have the lens in stock but he asked that it be ordered[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. A week and half later I get a text that the lens is in stock. I drove to the practice and picked up the lens. It was the wrong power and for the wrong eye. They said Dr. Lee ordered the wrong lens. I don't know where the error occurred but Dr. Lee was clear with me as to what he ordered. Wasted an hour today and will need to take another hour when the correct lens arrives. There doesn't appear to be any attention to quality. Who checked the order against my exam to insure it was correct? Likely no one -- ordered wrong power and wrong eye? The practice seems more about how many people they can move through the door and not about quality of service. Not the quality of the former practice for sure. read more

I'm so disappointed and angry. I don't know what's going on Eyecare Associates, but I'm done. In December I scheduled a January 2024 appointment online at the Bob Wallace location. When I showed up, they didn't have my appointment. The woman at the desk asked if I made the appointment online. I said yes. Then she explained that they were having problems with the system and online appointments weren't going thru. What??? Okay, I was in a good mood and I just rescheduled. I spoke to a live person on Friday and was reminded about my new appointment. I confirmed I'd be there. I showed up today (Monday) at my rescheduled time, only to be told that they couldn't find my appointment. Then I find out they CANCELLED my appointment because I didn't confirm via text. A text I NEVER RECEIVED, mind you. They cancelled my appointment, after I'd already talked to them! No follow up call, no follow up email. What if there was something wrong with their system again and the texts aren't going thru? Because I sure didn't receive a text. Of course, this time I was upset because I wasted my time going there - again. What's even more irksome is how nonchalant the women at the front desk are. Like it's no big deal. They don't try to fix the problem or offer anything for the inconvenience. They clearly don't care, and on both occasions I never received an apology. One woman tried to get me to reschedule again, but I said no. I'm done with them. My advice, stay far away. Their dependence on technology is a huge inconvenience, and their obvious lack of concern about the situation is grating. read more

I'm only giving 1 star because you can't give 0. The actual eye exam and optometrists are very knowledgeable. My rating is solely on the purchasing and receiving side. I was quoted 1-2 weeks for glasses and it's now been 4 weeks and "they're still not in." I was told people would call and give an update in a day or two and that never happened. I call every Wednesday and one Wednesday 1/3 pairs were in, then two Wednesdays later 2/3 pairs were in and then the fourth Wednesday we were back down to 1/3 pairs in. If you only need to get your eyes checked go here but take your prescription and run. read more

The first problem is that the appointments get mixed-up and cancelled, without any reason. They did not indicate or text that the appointment was canceled or rescheduled. These people are not interested at all that they inconvenience their patients and their communication system is not reliable or functioning.. In addition, the receptionists are very rude and indifferent and are not the least interested in helping or assisting. Lastly the optometrist care is very poor without any real interest in patients' well being, unprofessional and stupid doctors. The whole EYECARE Associates system should be shut down. They all deserve less than 0 stars - I suggest to everyone to stay away from this office and from EYECARE Associates completely. read more

My entire family has used EyeCare Assoc for years. I am the POA for my oldest son and took him to get glasses over 4 months ago. I paid over $300 out-of-pocket along with his insurance payment of $300. When I received the EOB, it reflected that they owed me a refund. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted the office and they did not agree with the EOB.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went to the office and took the paperwork and after 45 minutes, I was told they were going to refile the insurance because they did not agree with how the insurance processed the claim. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have contacted the insurance twice and was told both times it was processed correctly and EyeCare Assoc has not refiled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As of today, I have contacted that office 2 more times and noone is able to tell me what is going on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was under the assumption that in-network doctors were under contract with certain insurance companies and the discounts/write-offs were why you went to those doctors. Extremely rude and unhelpful doctors. Doctors are very condescending and unprofessional. The optical department and technicians are helpful.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I went in today to tell them that I lost my glasses and needed my prescription and PD number to order online because I can't afford to spend the $300 there for one pair. They refused to give me my PD number. I spoke to three different ladies. Their attitudes were also very poor. I called the other EyeCare Associates on Washington street where I used to go and within a minute, they had given me my PD number I needed. I will never step foot in this location again.I highly recommend the one on Washington Street! I've been going there for about 10 years and I regret ever switching. The staff is so much nicer and they are actually willing to help their customers even if they are buying glasses elsewhere! read more

I've been coming here for decades and I always enjoy my experience with Dr. Lee and with his assistant, Julie. From Lasik surgery ~ 2001-ish (which was actually done in B'ham by a different eye doctor with the follow-ups handled here conveniently by Dr. Lee), to contacts, to glasses, etc., they always provide a thorough eye exam, state of the art equipment and good laughs! Julie and I cut up since I only have an annual appointment and there's always something to chat about! Dr. Lee listens to your concerns and asks questions about your lifestyle and needs (e.g., do you sit in front of a computer all day? Are you interested in something for sports?) to ensure you are happy with your eye correction choice. They will text you and e-mail with appointment reminders, which is an added bonus. I've had good customer service with the sales people in the adjacent optical store where you can purchase frames and I don't feel pressure to "buy today" because they gladly provide you with your hard copy prescription so you may purchase your eye needs (contacts, whatever) elsewhere if you choose. I'm not giving 5 stars because parking is tight, and the lobby is tight, too. And I had a 30 minute wait yesterday, but they couldn't help that, it was a busy Monday after a holiday weekend. read more

Absolutely atrocious, unprofessional service. I highly encourage people to stay away from this EyeCare Associates location. My mom was recently a patient here. Due to estrogen issues from having breast cancer five years ago, she requires a prescription eye drop in order to wear her contacts comfortably. To make a long story short, the eye drops required a prior authorization through her insurance company. This is something that the prescribing physician must sign off on and approve; generally, it can be completed in 72 hours or less. The office dragged their feet for over three weeks. If this gives you an idea, my mom used a RX coupon for 30 days free, and she went back to the office for more samples. They had plenty of time to send the authorization information to the insurance company, but it didn't happen. Since I am a pharmacy technician and my mom gets her eye drops at the pharmacy that I work at, I faxed a cover letter and a P.A. request form. As a courtesy, I included my mom's prescription insurance information. I also added a professional, but urgent message stating that my mom had been without the eye drops that she needs. I requested that the P.A. be done in a timely manner. Not long after I sent the fax, I received a phone call from a girl named Misty in their prior authorization department. She called me at my place of work and then proceeded to verbally attack me for insinuating that she was not doing her job quickly enough. She essentially called my mom and I liars by saying that "no one had notified the office that my mom's eye drops needed insurance approval". That was a total lie. I have NEVER been spoken to like that by someone who is supposed to be an administrative professional. Honestly, it was quite shocking how nasty and verbally aggressive she was. My mom actually talked to her supervisor, and it sounded like that wasn't her first attitude issue with a customer. Even though her supervisor apologized for her behavior, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Personally, I think Misty was so aggressive because she was actually called out on not doing her job efficiently. Sorry, but that isn't a valid reason to be so blatantly rude and disrespectful to a paying patient, especially one who gave you guys plenty of time to complete a simple task. Stay away from this place. Their service, or lack thereof, is a total joke. read more

They made an error filling one of my eyeglasses. They refused to correct it. I had to file a report with the BBB and threaten them with a lawsuit. Finally, they agreed to have the eye doc look at my specs. (No, he had refused to even see me after the initial grab-your-cash visit). He agree that they had made a mistake. It then took them months and months to fill out the new frames. Why? Because they forced through paperwork to get the insurance to pay them a second time. Greedy, lazy, scheming. read more

If you go to Dr. David Lee and he recommends eye surgery of any kind, get a second opinion. My Mother had a torn retina about 2 years ago. She went to see a specialist. She had visits with the specialist about every 3 months for doctor recommended check ups. During this time she was told she had a small cataract on her left eye. The specialist said it was no big deal right now but may be at a later date. Her last check up with the specialist was November 2014. A few weeks ago EyeCare Associates (Dr. Lee) called for my Mother to come in for her yearly check up. She went. During this check up Dr. Lee encountered the above mentioned cataract. He proceeded into sounding like an ambulance chasing lawyer -- "This must be done now. Dr. hoohoo will do it. She needs to check in...." blah blah blah. On and on. I told him that she had just seen her retina specialist 2 months earlier. I asked if it could have progressed that fast in such a short time. He sat back and said " Your retina specialist is not a cataract doctor". I did not care for his tone. I immediately called the retina specialist to set up another appointment - a second opinion. Guess what - - The retina specialist said the surgery IS NOT necessary right now and may not be for a year or longer. She's NOT having the surgery and she will NOT be back to Dr. David Lee (EyeCare Associates). read more

They also double-checked my prescription and discovered I did in fact have the wrong prescription. They got me a new pair of glasses super fast and they are much better! I have been a patient of Dr. Lee for 25 years, since moving to Huntsville in 1991. I have had annual check-up religiously. However, the wait time to be called back from the waiting room has been growing longer of the past 3 or 4 years. At my last check-up in the fall, I again had a long wait time, but even more frustrating was that I felt Dr. Lee was not listening to what I was telling him about my experience with contacts (monthly). Instead, he kept trying to persuade me to consider an even more expensive contact option (daily wear). I considered after that visit to find another doctor for future exams. Last week I had a vision concern arise. I tried to make an appointment with a new doctor, but circumstances (snowy weather, recent insurance change) made my efforts seem futile. Reluctantly, I did call Dr. Lee's office and scheduled an appointment for the earliest they had available to see Dr. Lee (5 days out). Today, I showed up for my 8:30am appointment at 8:15am, and filled out paperwork. While I was waiting, three other patients arrived with later appointments (confirmed by the call the receptionist makes to the assistant that their patient has arrived). Each one of them was called back in a very timely fashion. After the third was called back and I had waited more than 45 minutes, I simply got up and walked out. And I vowed to never return. My time is important as well. If they couldn't see me at 8:30 or a short time thereafter, they should not have scheduled me for that time. read more

Miss the "old" employees in the Optical One dispensary on Bob Wallace. Used to get good service with lots of time spent with me whenever I was in the optical area. This time, not so much. When I first went to pick up my progressive prescription glasses, was handed them without any attempt to see if they fit on my face properly. No adjustment for ear pieces was attempted. When I commented on the fact that I couldn't find the focal point, employee just said "well, you need to try them for two weeks." Went back two weeks later with same complaint. I was sold inappropriate lenses for my prescription. Reordered. When I went to pick up my glasses the second time, there were tubs of other glasses on the table that were not removed to give me space to find the mirror to check position on my face. Very unprofessional. I was not shown a reading card until I asked for it. There was no checking to see if the glasses fit on my ears like they were supposed to, as has always been done in the past. Basically felt like I was rushed out. Three visits, three different people. Very disappointing! read more

Optical department sucks. Something was wrong with my glasses and I kept saying so. They told me they would call me back in a week. Here I am and it's been over 2 weeks and after many calls none were returned. This is not the first time this has happened. If you don't ride their tails they don't call you Once they have your $$ they treat you like you are nonexistent. Never again will I do business with them and I gave them 3 yrs of my business.
