The receptionist greeted me with kindness, a warm smile, and a pleasant tone that immediately set me at ease. Emreana, the doctor's assistant, was patient, friendly, and exceptionally informative. She explained each step of the process with care, laid out all my options clearly, and never rushed me. As someone on the neurodivergent spectrum, I tend to ask many questions -- and I'm used to professionals responding with impatience. Emreana never once made me feel that way. Her calm, respectful manner meant a great deal to me. Dr. Gyneth Rock conducted her examination with enthusiasm and positivity, which instantly reassured me. I knew right away that my future eye care would be in capable, caring hands. Nora, the optician, was equally wonderful. She intuitively selected a frame that I fell in love with the moment I tried it on -- it felt as though she had known my style for years. When I asked my usual stream of questions and mentioned, somewhat self consciously, that I have high functioning autism, she didn't blink. Instead, she smiled and said, "Oh, no problem -- I'm on the spectrum too." That simple moment of connection and acceptance was profoundly meaningful. In my 65 years, I don't think I've ever felt so understood and welcomed in a clinical setting. I will never visit another optometric clinic. Took my 10 year old daughter here for her first eye exam. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the doctor did his job, but I question whether he is used to being around kids or has kids of his own. Within the first few minutes of the appointment he was already huffing under his breath, clearly annoyed with my daughter's vague answers to his questions regarding her eyes. I don't know what he expected but I, as a parent, expected the doctor to have more professional emotional regulation. If I can clearly tell you are getting annoyed during the appointment then I'm sure my daughter can too. We spent maybe 20 mins at most together and if you are already that irritated maybe you shouldn't be a doctor, or perhaps change your preferences so that you don't have to accept pediatric patients? read more

I was seen here a couple months ago and was pretty apprehensive about saying anything but decided to do so. After being seen by the Dr. I was in the waiting area waiting for my prescription and while I waited for about 10 or so minutes sitting with my phone the Dr came out and walked past me and said to me "oh your still here, I should have you clean the bathrooms" and then he laughed and walked away. I was the only person of color in there and as a Mexican woman I did not find that "joke" funny at all. read more

I brought my glasses in to have the lenses corrected. There was nothing wrong with my frames when I dropped them off....this is how my glasses were returned to me. The arm of my glasses are visibly damaged. I will never shop here again. Unacceptable! read more

I bought some glasses from these folks in November of 2024 and it was a mess. They prescribed progressives, but they were not comfortable to wear (the field of vision was incredibly small, part of my laptop screen was blurry when I looked at it). I returned the glasses and they said they would just get me regular lenses, but once I picked them up it was apparent that the lenses were the progressive lenses with the additional prescriptions removed because the field of vision was still very small except now I didn't have the improved vision for reading things close to my eyes. Neato. They refunded me some of the cost, but I couldn't wear the damn glasses so it appears that they are just a damn charity that I guess I'm supposed to donate to. The frames I got were supposedly completely covered by my insurance, so I guess I just got swindled for these crappy lenses. I do know enough now that I'm now going back there, this is the second time in a decade that they have made a mess of getting glasses. They're pretty aggressive with the sales, and their sales manager isn't great (as evidenced by the ridiculous attempt to give me these trash lenses instead of ordering me a new lens that uses my prescription). I don't recommend this business to anyone unless you have very simple eyewear needs/prescription. I would love my money back, but that'll never happen. read more

Fool me once that's on you, fool me twice... Look, it shouldn't take 90 minutes to see the doctor for 5 minutes and pick out a pair of reading glass. Also, I've ordered glasses here on two occasions where the orders were just plain wrong. I mean, not even close. The latest order was so off I had to chuckle and polite say I will not be returning. I honestly don't have time to be used as a guinea pig for new employees that don't know the ordering system. They seriously need to work on their customer service. I ordered a pair of prescription glasses 3 weeks ago and still waiting. Each time I call to try to get a status update on when I might finally have my glasses, I get put on hold and I am told that an optician will contact me to give me an ETA, but no one ever calls. When I asked the receptionist if I should come down to the office to get some service, she told me I would be wasting my time because they are too busy. It's all gone downhill... I was a patient of Dr. Larson's for close to 15 years. I stuck with him when Folsom Optometry became Eyecenter because he knew my eyes and is an all-around nice guy. The quality of service definitely dropped, but I stuck around. Since his retirement, I have no reason to go there anymore as it's gotten even more disorganized and inefficient. The final straw was when I went to order more contacts and they said I was due for an exam first- fair enough. Saw a new optometrist who updated my prescription, but the problem was it was WAY OFF and I could barely see well enough to drive. I had to go back for a follow up exam with a different doctor to get it right, but then it took a month-plus for the lenses to arrive and when they showed up, one of them was the wrong prescription!! It was actually one of the opticians who caught the mistake. When we finally got the right trials for me, I called to order a year's supply but they were confused about something said they had to confirm with the doctor and would call me back. Nobody ever called back. After a saga of wrong prescriptions, general confusion, multiple trial lenses, and having to wear old lenses for twice as long as I should, I give up... I asked them to send my current prescription so I could take my business elsewhere, but naturally they sent the wrong one. Called again, they sent one from a different exam, but also the wrong one. I finally got ahold of an optician and said SEND THE MOST RECENT PRESCRIPTION and they got it right on the 3rd try. They have a lot of nice people there and some doctors that I'm sure are very good, but the way it's run makes it seem like amateur hour. 6 months on and I'm still wearing a pair of trial lenses... Not worth the time and effort just to be able to have some contact lenses so I'll be going somewhere else read more

Great service, the office staff is friendly and takes the time to explain the appointment process. I appreciate that they sanitized everything before you are tested or seated. The time they took to explain my eye exam results and imaging. Team members are knowledgeable. What I would have liked is to have been able to do is not give any stars. I had my first and last appointment with this facility on June 19th. From the time I parked my car outside of the building it looked like it was just a temporary location. The staff, particularly the lady who sat at the front desk, I was unable to get her name, but she has grey hair and wears it in a bun. She was deplorable. The rest of the staff including the Optometrist was pleasant, my glasses were ordered, and I was told they would be ready in 7 to 10 days. Like another reviewer, I called on the 10th day, because I had heard nothing. I called to check the status, the woman who answered the phone, again I did not get her name, by her lack of customer service on the phone I suspected it was the same lady I encountered at my appointment, so I asked her if she was the lady with the grey hair and she said she was. She told me that she supposed my glasses would be in the next shipment, with no offer to check to see what the actual status was. To make this statement a bit more brief, I called on July 11th, I cancelled my order with Eyecenter Optometric, after finding out that my glasses failed on the 3rd QC inspection and would not be delivered until the 18th or 19th of July, a full month after the order had been placed. I have read other postings on this location that are very similar to mine, some of them have the response from this provider that they take complaints seriously and work hard on correcting the problems. I say VSP has to stop endorsing this agency as a provider, they do a disservice! read more

Had an appointment at 3:30, came in at 3:10, didn't get helped until I ASKED the front desk at 4, while everyone else who came in after me got helped. On top of that, when I initially came in to get a new prescription and glasses, the shorter round woman told me she would make sure the lab would put a "rush" on it, seeing as I broke my glasses and I needed them as quick as I could before I discovered Eyeglass World which I strongly urge anyone to go to before this crappy place. I got 2 pairs from them in a day in a half. I'm now getting my glasses after 3 weeks, might as well count that as a month, and still waiting to be fitted an HOUR after arriving while watching everyone who works here run around like an idiot, never coming here again. read more

I chose the EyecenterOptometric (Folsom) for an exam and new pair of glasses on Feb. 19th 2020. I needed computer/reading glasses and after a hard upsell on the progressive lenses with all the bells and whistles, walked out with a receipt for exam and glasses costing approximately $750. When I put on the glasses, I found it very difficult to see with the progressive lenses. I was told that I would get used to them and to give it some time. I wanted the glasses to work, but it seemed the transition line from near to far was not in the correct place on the lense itself, and the only way to see out of them was to hold them about a half inch above my bridge. Then came the pandemic and I put them in a drawer meaning to go back at a later date. That was today. I explained my situation with the glasses and was told by a male technician to lean my head way back while using them or pay another $188 to swap out the lenses because it was after the 6 month warranty time frame. There was no willingness to work with me to resolve the issue and extend the time frame due to the pandemic, he just kept rudely repeating, "You had 6 months!" even as I walked out to take my business elsewhere. Very poor customer experience and I'm left with an expensive pair of glasses I can't use. Just sad. read more

Spent $300+ after insurance and my glasses broke in less than a year. Got them in March and they broke in November. I reached out to them to try to get them fixed and have not heard from them. Reached out again still not heard from them. Absolutely ridiculous for the money I've pain and these glasses have totally fallen apart. I have been a client here for over two years and over the past 5 months this establishment has become so mismanaged I would beg future customers to avoid bringing their business here at all costs. Not only did it take them two months to fill my order for a replacement pair of glasses last year, just this week I have been told that their optometrists are obligated to get back to me with a phone call within 24 hours or my request...I am still waiting for someone to call me back to place my order. Not only this, I have never been treated so horribly over the phone by a staff member than I have been here. One of their receptionists named Melanie, verbally attacked me over the phone and told me that my request is not a priority right now since they are under-staffed. I went for an eye exam for reading glasses. The exam went ok but finding a good frame it was bad because not enough choices and none to help. After i choose one the employee that help did not say that the frames are wrong for the glass. I payed out of pocket and it came over $800 just for one pare of reading glasses. I waited over 2 weeks to come in and i made an apoitment to pick them up. Another employee helped me and saw immediately that the frames were the wrong type. So i had to choose another frame and wait 2 more weeks to come in. The second employee told me that i can keep the first pare because they were made. When i went to pick up the second pare they told me to go home and bring the first pare before they give me the second one. Very disappointed in the customer service and the frames selections. I have gone to this location for years. Unfortunately, my last experience now has me looking for another eye center. I attempted to order my contacts over the phone. After being told someone would call me back a week later I called again and was able to get them ordered. I was told they would in in 3-5 days. Here we are almost 3 weeks later and after multiple calls, i am told only an optician can tell me if they are in and they are never available! I have been told 4 times now that someone would call back but at this point I have not heard from anyone. I was told i could stop by and could possibly speak to someone but that's not guaranteed and I live an hour away. If they weren't already paid for I'd go elsewhere. Note: Although this is my experience I unfortunately have had it multiple times. had a great service with the optometrist and although I could tell she had a lot of Patients back to back she was awesome and helped me and have no negative things to say only good! The only real problem is the staff who helps you afterward. I had such terrible experiences each time I have come. I was made fun of when they think I can't hear them for my glasses choices and profiled for being "poor" for my appearance and age. This is for the piece of work that is Dr. Lilley. I had probably the worst experience one could possible have with Dr.Lilley. He is so full of himself he tells YOU how you should be seeing when trying to get your prescriptions! I had to tell him MULTIPLE times I was not seeing clearly and it was as if I were offending him by not agreeing with him. I guess he didn't like me saying it wasn't clear and right in the middle of me trying to tell him he interrupts me and says "WOULD YOU JUST LET ME FINISH?!" Oh man my blood started boiling I couldn't believe it. I looked him straight in the eye and he had no remorse for how he interrupted me and said that. I was so irate that I walked out of the exam and told the front staff to cancel all billing to my insurance. He tried to reconcile with me at the front desk after I told him off but I could see straight through his fake apology. Management was nice though and heard me out. I am simply waiting for a reply from management to how this situation is going to be handled. read more

These guys used to be good, I don't know what happened. Any phone call to them doesn't get responded to. I tried to get a replacement lens for my glasses, called three times over the course of two weeks. Twice to the eye glasses staff and once to the main line. They never ever called me back. Eventually got into contact with the main office on the fourth call and had them "hand hold" the staff into contact with me. Glasses were ordered Two weeks later, no word. Call the staff asking for response back. Get none. Call the main office and tell them what's going on. While they try and transfer me to the staff that aren't helping in the Folsom office they hang up on me 4 times, no joke, 4 times. I had to call them back each time. I'm still not convinced they weren't jacking with me. Unless these guys get their customer service fixed I highly discourage this place. This isn't just one occurrence, it's continuous read more

First off, let me say that Doctor Larson is nice, personable and professional. I feel like you're chitting, you're chatting and next thing you know the exam is done. It's just that easy. Five Shiny Stars for the dude. I was in to EyeCenter Folsom on 08/01 for the annual exam and glasses. Today is 08/29, exactly four weeks later. No glasses. The word when I ordered was "seven to ten days." Even just counting working days, we're at 20. Zero communication from the office. I have called a total of four times, spaced nicely, starting from the due date. Each time I called, I was told that someone would call me back. It's not happened. Every time I call, I stress the notion that I get no communication from their office and also that I've been told 'someone' would get back to me. On the third call, I was put on a really long hold....really long ...maybe they don't believe in just calling someone back. Whomever had put me on hold put me on hold to contact the lab. This was early last week and this person was told it would be eight more days. That's today. I get that I can't ding the office for the behaviors of the lab they use. But I can get them for their communication or lack thereof. Am I wrong? When something goes double the expected waiting time, you contact your customer periodically to keep them updated. Or is that just kookoo? I called today, day 28, about 12:45p, and was told they "might be in, but the person who does that is out to lunch and will be back in a little bit." Clearly, every time I state how much time has passed, no one is noting it. As I write this, look at the clock. It's 5:11p. They close in just over forty-five minutes. Still no call. At the risk of making an annoyance out of myself, I called for the fifth time at 5:48. I was put on hold while conversations happened without me. Good news! The glasses came in, but we close in four minutes. "We open at 7 tomorrow, though!" If I wanted to push it, I live four minutes away from the office, but I'm just over it at this point. Finally picked up the glasses 08/30, 11am. No acknowledgement of any delay. I've never "gone back" to the same eye place two years in a row. You know, Costco, Sam's, whoever's got the time when I do, and I pop in. Last year I had such a great experience with EyeCenter Folsom I decided to go back. You know, form a relationship. Would I go back for a third year? For the exam with Larson, yes, 100%. But I think I'll pick up the glasses someplace else. read more

I initially didn't have any issues with them until recently. I've had my appointment cancelled 3x in a row (each time with 1 day notice) and could never get anyone on the phone. When I went in to reschedule my appointment in person, I was asked to put a mask on (ok, that's fine, and I did). Immediately after that, a delivery driver comes in without a mask on, has a nice friendly chat with the receptionist, and drops off a bunch of packages. If you're gonna enforce your policy, at least be consistent. read more

Eye Center Folsom Review My elderly mother had an unsatisfactory experience at the Eye Center on Blue Ravine in Folsom recently (across from Target shopping center). She had an exam in late May and while told that her eyes had different RX lenses, her prescription had both lenses written as the same. She's elderly and wouldn't know how to read an optometric prescription to know there was anything amiss. She had the glasses made at Costco since they were having a sale and she needed both regular and sunglasses. Upon receiving her new glasses, she could not see at all...double vision. The glasses were made to the prescription but the prescription was incorrect. She called the Eye Center and today was the earliest they could squeeze her in. She had a different optometrist today and the correct prescription was provided. They admitted the first one was wrong but they would not replace the lenses in her new frames. The "only" consideration was that they wouldn't charge her for today's visit....really?! I have never heard of such an unethical treatment of a patient when clearly the error was theirs. They said they would only replace the lenses if she had purchased the glasses from their business (much overpriced for a senior on a fixed income). Thankfully, the wonderful optometry department at Costco kindly helped her and will fix the problem. Just an FYI to anyone looking for new glasses.....don't go to Eye Center. And by the way, there was a gentleman who was being assisted while we waited for her appointment time, who was also unhappy with his new glasses and had to get them redone...it's a small office and we heard the conversation. read more

This review is for the Folsom location. Hopefully, the other locations are as good. My wife and I have purchased glasses from them. Also, I have purchased lenses and have had them put into existing frames. Their selection is excellent. What sets them apart however is their service. We have come in for adjustments numerous times. Due to a spinal injury I fall too often. When I do, my glasses often get damaged. No matter how often I come in, they are incredibly gracious. They fix my glasses without charge and without blame. One person there, Patsy, works magic on my glasses making them as good as new. When my wife got new glasses she tried a very different design. After wearing them for a couple of weeks and bringing them back in for multiple adjustments she gave up on them. The store took them back at no cost to us and just charged us the price of the ones we replaced them with. That's the definition of excellent customer service! There's no way we would purchase glasses, lenses, or anything related from anywhere else. read more

I saw Dr Palmer Lee this Tuesday (the second time I saw him professionally) and it was a very good experience. Their lobby is so comfortable with a fun coffee machine while waiting to go into testing. I chose the eye scan over getting dilated, which showed so much more information. Plus an easy test to see how my tear ducts are aging. I can't recommend this team high enough. I felt highly informed without being rushed. What my options for sight enhancement (glasses, contacts, etc) was before going out to make my choice. They showed me what my insurance (VSP) took care of and what they didn't. From the front counter people to the guy who measured me for glasses I was happy. 5star treatment. read more

I had an exam with Dr. Lee and Dr. Larson on two different days. They were both great and willing to accommodate with my requests. The opticians were great and very helpful. The new re-model looks great and spacious. The tech that took me back was knowledgeable and considerate of my time. My new DVF glasses look amazing. I totally love them!!! read more

We have come here for the past several years and have received great treatment each time. I've received timely and great service from the doctors for eye exams, but this review is primarily about the office staff. As this office is usually very busy, you will need an appointment to avoid waiting for a staff member to free up. The staff at this office goes above and beyond my expectations. Several examples: my daughter ordered prescription sunglasses and ended up not linking the tint she selected for the lenses. Eyecenter Optimetric changed the tint for her at no extra cost. My husband broke the temple on his Nike sunglasses not once, but twice, and they replaced the frames each time at no extra cost (note that there may have been some sort of warranty they were still under that I was not aware of). I had a pair of non-prescription Raybans that had a broken lens and I found a spare replacement lens but didn't know how to put it in. When we went in to pick up some glasses, I asked one of the staff about how to do it, and she took out the broken lens and put in the new one at no cost even though I did not purchase the sunglasses in their store. None of these services they provided were expected, but they have always made the effort to ensure complete satisfaction. I highly recommend this office. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for years since a friend was the optometrist. He recently retired and my wife, another friend, and I have each had unflattering experiences since. For my wife and the friend, they had to wait 20-30 minutes for the optometrist once they were taken to their exam room. I scheduled an appointment, got seemingly 23 reminders about the appointment (one of which I confirmed), and when I arrived was told they canceled my appointment because I hadn't confirmed. I hate to give such a poor review after years of excellent service, however I feel that others need to know about these issues. In the last 1-2 years, things have gone downhill here. The decor is about the only positive change since Folsom Optometry was bought/merged with this company. There's much more pressure and up selling, from add-on diagnostic tools to the materials themselves. The most frustrating part was getting a new prescription (& paying for glasses and contacts with that prescription) only to discover that it was wrong in one eye. I thought I was just having extreme difficulty adjusting, but 2 weeks later my husband had the exact same issue with his new prescription and had to re-purchase 2 sets of glasses due to one eye being significantly different. Very very costly mistake and upsetting that the same doctor made the same error within 2 weeks. read more

The doctor showed much interest in my history and creating a treatment plan to keep my eyes healthy and attend to my chronic conditions. The frame selection was large and reasonably priced for popular brand names. Detailed receipts were provided that met my company's requirements for healthcare reimbursement. While I always feel in good hands here and trust their expertise, I have never had my appointment start on time. I've never waited less than 30 min and this last time it was nearly an hour. I appreciate greatly the new technologies available here for the exam. The elimination of the puff on your eyeball had me super excited!
