I am especially happy I found a skilled hairstylist as previously I went to a salon in Pinole that had decent reviews, but in that salon they had used those shears instead of doing layers... I have paid quite a lot for hair in my younger years when I lived in SF. I get mom haircuts now but I know a good haircut, and Ana can deliver as well. I needed hair and makeup for 3 people on a Saturday for a cousin's wedding. It was a last minute decision so I really did not expect to be able to get an appointment. Luckily, Eyerim was flexible and was able to accommodate us. Julie came in at 7am to start my hair and makeup. Eyerim arrived shortly thereafter to do my mom's hair. When the salon opened at 9am, I got worried that my sister-in-law's hair and makeup might be rushed or might not be even done at all because they have other appointments. Everything worked out alright. We were out of there by 10:30am. I received lots of compliments for my hair and makeup. I'm happy with the service. I'm grateful that they went an extra mile for us. I plan to use their service again. I deducted a star because my mom paid for our hair and makeup in cash not knowing that there's a yelp check-in offer of 10%off. When I asked the lady at the counter whether we could avail of the offer, she said she couldn't give the discount anymore because the payment was already inputted in the computer. I think that's a pathetic excuse. We could have saved $24. I think she should have been more flexible since we paid in cash anyway....it's easier to just hand us back the dough. read more

This is my third time coming here within years. I called twice within a week to make an appointment and they took a couple of days to return my call. My appointment was at 10 am but they had me waiting since I apparently arrived before anyone else did. This person (NOT cristina) pays attention to detail when she cuts hair which is the only reason why I kept coming here. One real complaint that I do have is that when she was washing my hair, apparently she WET my whole sweater and back. I didn't feel anything until I got up and all the water started to go down my back. She apologized but I left WET. Not sure if I'll go back, not that this establishment cares. read more

2 great haircuts by Marisela so far! 1st one was prob my favorite cut ever. Medium layers, medium length, v shape in back. Easy to style later by myself. Didn't shred it, thin it out. I hate when stylists over thin it out. To help me choose style, she asked and explained the layer types (long vs short vs med). She asked what length and if bangs. Thorough. It was my first cut in 10 months and I had crazy long scraggily hair and also a bunch of new hair growing in since I had a baby recently (hair loss from pregnancy). We chatted about baby a bit. 2nd trip (today) I knew now that I could trust her because she executed style well last time. So I sought her our specifically (whereas last time I randomly got her from online appt booking). This time I walked in without appt and got: Medium layers, wanted shorter length than b4 so longest layer in back was about shoulder blade, rounded v shape in back. Bangs were nice side swept and looked so good when styled. Blowdry. In the pic I included she did that style for me! I like that it is a relaxing experience, she prob will talk with u but I like peace and to zone out while watching the haircutting. The stylist next to me was really talkative, i don't prefer that but happy Marisela is happy to be more quiet with me. This other stylist kept saying, "Retarded" and it made me cringe every time, not very nice. Aaaanyways, the other great thing was she communicated at crucial junctures throughout the cut to ensure lengths were what I wanted. Beginning with longest layer in back she asked and showed what length. She did the overall basic length for the whole head and showed me and then said: "now for the layers." Then she went in to do layers but showed me front ones and conformed if i liked that length. Well the point is since i loved her last cut i am thinking let the master do her magic so I pretty much said yes to everything she said except the first part about longest length (wanted it shorter). But it was smooth sailing and finally the bangs, i said yes. At the end, i was almost gonna leave b4 blow-dry since I was just going to my house after. It was just a basic blow dry but she used the brush and dryer to curl the ends and wow!!!! I wish I was going somewhere cool! Anyways, thank you Marisela! I will always be back!!! read more

It has been over 4 years since I wrote my last review on Christina. I still go to her for hair cuts. I wanted to update my review to share how amazing she is as a person. When I learnt I had cancer and was going to lose my hair with the chemo drugs, I asked Christina to shave my head. She gave me a private appointment (the salon was closed that day), and told me it wasn't time to shave my head and that she would give me a nice cut. Had my hair done here and it was nothing like what I wanted.. I don't know the stylist name but when she tease and made a bump on my head, it was so small and was mainly on my right side. She also used the tiny rubber band for the hair and tied 5 tiny strand that she did to hook the extension clip on and it hurt my skull that when I removed it, it was red and tender. I don't know why she didn't just braid one end to another which would've been better and less painful. I did not like my hair at all. Onto the make up. I love the artist herself. She was super friendly and talkative which is a plus for customer service! I love the product she use (HD forever) but it was a bit too light compared to my arms and such. She also did a good job with my eye brows but it was too thin and not as gradient as I wish it would've been. I show her a pic of a cut crease eye shadow I like and it came out bit too rough and thick for the crease. Other than that she was great and very people friendly. read more

Christina can NEVER keep her appts. There have been more than 3 times that I've had to sit around waiting over 15 min past my appt time for her to finish. Today was the last straw. After I canceled events on a Saturday afternoon to come in, she did it to me AGAIN. I walked in 5 minutes before my appt and she is coloring someone's hair! I asked her how long I will have to wait past my appt and she can't even give me an estimate! Worst of all, she wasn't even apologetic. All she said was that she was running behind. For those of you who are searching for a great salon, you can end your search now! I HIGHLY recommend this salon, if I could give it more than 5 stars I surly would. I recently came in for a color correction after trying to get my hair lighter by myself (TOTAL FAIL). I was hoping to transform my ombre hair to a solid caramel brown color. After buying what I thought I needed at the oh so "helpful" sallys beauty supply store I took my cheap ass home and proceeded with my journey to caramel hair. After stripping my hair and putting in color, I was left with results that made me look like a damn troll doll. I clearly missed almost the whole back of my head and the spots that I didn't miss where uneven and different hues of orange and blonde. The next day i sported a beanie and I drove my troll looking head to little mermaid to get a consultation. Right when I walked in I was accompanied by one of the hairstylist named Julie, who happens to be the god sent angel that fixed my troll head. I showed her the damage and I was easily able to make an appointment with her later that week. So this is a review of my first time visit. I was taken care of by Cristina. She was very nice and really listened to what I wanted and my past experiences with different colors and cuts. I wanted a bright berry on my bottom half and a touch up of my highlights on top. She was very patient with me as I like to know exactly what the stylist is going to do to my hair. She colored my bottom, bleached my top, toned it a bit then gave me a new cut and stlye. I am very pleased with how it turned out color wise. I wanted it cut a little bit more but that is something I can talk to her about seeing as this bright berry bottom is going to need at least twice monthly retouches to keep it vibrant which completely fine with. It was a lot of work on her part but she charged me a super fair price. Very pleased will be going back to her regularly! read more

I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted and she gave suggestions along the way. She seemed confident and seemed as if she really knew what she was doing. I don't know much about hair, so having her explain what she was doing really made me feel like she cared about making sure we were on the same page!
