I found them by googling, and it worked out well because not only were they in my network, but they were in walking distance from me. However, I was still deciding on new contacts and new glasses when the quarantine began. Thankfully, they were still reachable and operating remotely on a limited basis. I was able to coordinate my one year supply of contacts with my rebate, and it was mailed to me out of state where I was quarantining with family. When they were back in office, they helped me coordinate my new glasses and also had them shipped to me out of state. I'm beyond satisfied with their professionalism and empathy! I paid more than I was used to for glasses (which was not a lot, given that I had just finished school and had been buying frames from LensCrafters and Costco), but those 10/10 glasses lasted me for six years. I got tons of compliments on them, and I actually replaced the lenses multiple times as my prescription changed, because I loved the frames so much. Friends would literally tell me things like "you have to get backup pairs of those frames; they are so you." A couple of years ago, one of the hinges started to get irreparably loose, and I realized, to my horror, that I would soon have to replace my beloved frames. I had moved out of state, but in the 4 or 5 business trips I took to NY over those two years, I'd always head to 10/10 and spend a good half hour there hemming and hawing over potential new frames. FINALLY, this past weekend, I was in NY again for work, and dragged both my sister and spouse to 10/10 with me for yet another look. Ruth, the owner, totally got me. "You want the same exact thing," she said, "but also a totally new look. I have just what you need!" Then she whirled off in what can best be described as a Fairy Godmother From Sleeping Beauty style, and returned with an armload of frames to try. I found ones that I love, AND my spouse also found new frames (he wasn't even there to look for new frames!). AND Ruth referred us to an optician near our home for follow-up AND sent us packing with the instruction to "just send me an email if your nosepads need replacing; we'll pop some in the mail for you." Seriously--I live thousands of miles away and wouldn't even dream of shopping for frames anywhere else.

Dr. Chen spent a good amount of time with me and made sure that the new prescription was going to be perfect. I haven't picked up the new prescription yet, but I'm confident that it will be perfect. The staff member who took my order was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I'm able to keep my computer glasses while the lenses are readied; I just have to budget an hour for the lenses to be put into the frames. I was also very impressed with the store's lift for persons in wheelchairs or users of walkers, rollators, canes, etc.

People are generally professional, the decor is very modern and fancy, and equipment is all new and high-grade. All your typical procedures will be available. My complaints about my experience were: 1. I had to wait an extra month for my Ortho-K lenses because somehow it got lost? But I wasn't alerted about this until it was already 2 weeks late (and I had to ask explicitly!). And I felt that this was very annoying that I had to be effectively blind for another month because the staff didn't keep track of my lenses order. 2. Dr. Tsai is young and pushing for new standards. But I felt that she was still inexperienced at times and was not aware of topics that were outside the book. E.g. vision snow, or contacts not fitting (e.g. dropping) for various other reasons. She is very adamant that her equipment and processes are the best, but when they don't work 100%, you feel that she doesn't really know what to do. 3. The glasses are outrageously expensive here. I believe the cheapest frame you can get is a bit over $300. And I get it, it's supposed to be a luxury experience. But everyone knows Luxottica manufactures these frames for pretty cheap and mark it up 20x+ by slapping a Gucci label on them... Wish there were just more accessible options that didn't break your wallet.

I recently had a prescription made at Eyes on Second and I was completely DISAPPOINTED in their…read moreservice. The first optometrist didn't really listen to me, but I tried her prescription anyhow. After one week I wrote them that I needed a Recheck as my SPH prescription was overplussed: past 20 feet to infinity I was seeing blurry; my old eye glasses with an SPH of 0.50 less in each eye was definetly better for distances farther than 20 feet. I went to the Recheck with another optometrist and told her again the problem I was having. At the end of the recheck consultation I asked what was my revised prescription going to be and she refused to tell me (!!!). Optometrist claimed that she would tell me the prescription after the lenses would be fabricated (???). It took 3 back and forth emails afterwards and 5 hours to get the prescription thru email at the end of the day. By law an optometrist has to give the prescription to a patient immediately after the consultation and before the lenses are fabricated. When I got the prescription thru email, it was again with the same over-plussed SPH for both eyes that I had already tried for the previous 2 weeks! I wrote them to fabricate the free remake of the lenses with a reduction of 0.25 for each eye., something in between my old glasses and their failed prescription that I had tried already for 14 days. They refused and told me that they would refund my money for the lenses and the frames and would contact my Insurance to clear the used benefits. I wish the problems would end there, but when I went back to return the case (they already had the frames in their possession) and process my refund ( I had paid by tapping the phone and my apple card) their machine was not able to process the refund and I had to wait in the store for 52 minutes (!!!) as they kept trying. At the end they promised me that they would try to do it "manually" and after two days they managed to process the refund. By the way , I found their optician rather crass and primitive in his demeanor. Plus I have never heard an optician say that a difference of 1 mm would make no difference for my vision behaviour in relation to the lower reading zone or that a difference of 4 degrees (!) in the AXI would make no difference. If you care about your eyes and your time, plus your self respect ,avoid Eyes on Second.

I was also able to track my order through meet marlo which was nice. There was some confusion when I went to pick up my contacts, the person assisting me was looking around and couldn't initially find it but then someone else eventually found it like a few minutes later (which was fine but the first person kind of had an attitude and was questioning whether or not I really ordered. When the second person found it, there was no apologies or anything. Maybe the person was having a bad day?)
