Guess they didn't take me serious about asking for the same level of stylist. I didn't ask for someone cheap. The haircut I received was NOTHING like the initial photo grouping that I had asked for. She took over a foot off of the back of my head and now it feels like I have a bald area in the back. I can't get it fixed because the top layers are so short they almost touch the top of my ears. Mind you my hair was past my cleavage. The sides don't match in length or thickness. It looks like I have the Kate plus eight haircut with a mullet length attached on the bottom. Almost like the jellyfish hair. If don't style my hair at all and it looks like shit. I even mentioned that I air dry and I like having my hair up. I can't have all of my hair up anymore. I can't air dry anymore. I wish I had never even saw this place. I can't even fix it for at least few months now and I'm supposed to get married in less than a year....

The friend suggested this location in particular, as she thought the high number of queer and gender-nonconforming staff would help my gender-expansive kid feel safe and comfortable. She was absolutely right! The space itself is relaxing and elegant, with some perfect quirky touches. Kiddo decided on a massage, their first ever, and Morgan did an amazing job connecting with and treating them as the customer while still checking in with me. Two thirds of the way through, Kiddo told Morgan, "I wish you could keep massaging my back forever!" Success! This salon used to be good, but it has gone downhill over time and my last 2 visits have been a waste of time and money. In general, the salon no longer provides high quality services and is filthy (if you go in the late afternoon, don't look down. The floor is disgustingly unclean). In specific, yesterday, my mani/pedi took almost 4 hours (The technician and I left around 9:45 pm- well after the salon had closed). Why? The technician had no idea what she was doing, and she kept leaving to go to the back room for who knows what. What's worse, she did a terrible job on both the mani and the pedi. Example: The air bubble mechanism in the water basin didn't work at Station 3 and instead of moving me to a different station or telling me they just didn't have the space to do a quality service as it was busy, she and the other workers- including the manager who knew the basin wasn't working - ignored the malfunction and I sat in cold, stagnant water for an hour. It was so gross. And, speaking of water, she grandly handed me the menu of drinks, and I chose a bottled water. She came back with a styrofoam cup of tap water. Um. No thanks. If they were out of bottled water, she could have just told me so I could have chosen something else. Then, after the hour of soaking my feet in the cold, stagnant water, she "forgot" to slough my heels, and when asked to do it, she gave a few perfunctory, half hearted scrapes on the bottom of my heels: sigh. My heels / feet are still cracked in several places and most definitely not sandal ready. (This is the second pedi I have had in the past month here and both were poorly done, so I suspect they have lost sight that a good pedi should remove rough /cracked patches in feet. Instead they just want to push through as many customers as they can so they substitute moisturizing the legs, which could be done at home, for taking the time to slough the feet). She then told me to walk to the nail station, but she failed to dry my feet. I slipped on the wet floor with my wet feet. When I told her I needed my feet to be dried, she said that is what the little thongs are for. I had to remind her she never gave me a pair: lol. She is lucky I didn't hurt myself, but I do wonder if she actually works there or they pulled her in because they were short on workers. She truly had no idea what she was doing from how to operate the water basin, allowing me to sit in cold, stagnant water for an hour, not sloughing my feet properly or without a reminder, and not knowing she needed to dry my feet and give me the thongs to wear- etc). The mani didn't go much better, but you get the idea. (When I asked if she could remove some hangnails, she said she would moisturize my hands at the end: ha. At another point, I filed my own nails to show her what I meant by rounded nails: truth). Please think twice before going here because the quality of the services has gone way down over time.

The pics are not in order so please see the titles at the bottom of each pic indicating before, after... And of course, there's one of Meredith.. I'd been a loyal client at Jungle Red for years. That ended the day Meredith--a so-called "Top Tier Stylist"--butchered my hair beyond repair. After 1.5 years of growing it out, I asked for a light trim. Instead, she razored through my hair from every angle. I couldn't see the back until it was too late. My hair was left shredded, uneven, and destroyed. Even Meredith looked shocked by how much she'd cut off. When I returned, her only response was, "Aww, I'm sorry you don't like your cut." That's not an apology--that's condescension. The owner, Lisa Travis, refunded the cut but refused to take any real responsibility. I asked if they'd help cover the cost of corrective work--she smugly declined, claiming extensions "weren't possible." She was wrong. Other stylists proved it could be done and temporarily fixed what Jungle Red ruined. Their "top-tier" ranking system is a joke. Meredith lacks skill and judgment, and Lisa Travis clearly doesn't value her clients enough to make things right. It's been 10 MONTHS, and my hair still hasn't recovered. I'm posting photos so you can see the damage for yourself. Do not trust this salon. They do not stand behind their work.
