From the time he arrived, the service was very…read moreprofessional, thorough and the medical staff provided open communication with my dad and the family. Everyone I encountered the reception desk, security, and cafeteria staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The medical team from the doctors, to the nurses and techs have been great and took the time to explain my dad's diagnoses and medical needs. My dad has been admitted. I will provide another rating once he is discharged.

My 86 year old mother with dementia was admitted to Doctor's Hospital for a UTI. Three days after admission, her doctors told me that she also has a small bowel obstruction and would need surgery. A week after surgery a CAT scan was done because her stomach was very distended. I received a call from a PA saying the report was bad and that more surgery was recommended. She commenced to tell me "the surgeons need to be honest with you about your mother's condition and that the surgery did not work" Then went on to read the report: "Small Ileocolic aaspomotic leak remains with intramural as well as anterior abdominal wall tracking of the extra luminal contras". I immediately asked the surgeon about it and was told "don't believe them ( the PA and Radiologist). Your mom is fine". "They are making that up"...(his exact words). Needless to say, I was blown away. A short time later they discharged my mom to a rehab facility where she is unresponsive has been placed in hospice. Three days before Christmas and this is where we are. Words can't express my disappointment. There are many other inconsistencies about my mother's health from their staff. I didn't know what to believe. It is my prayer that something is done about this negligence and mismanagement of my mother's care. My mother is elderly and black and was treated like she doesn't matter. Doctor's Hospital should be held accountable for the pain and suffering they have caused my mother and my family.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe the care my husband received at the Adventist…read moreRehabilitation Center in Silver Spring.  Everyone is caring and focused on getting the patient healthy and maintaining a stress free environment so you can focus your energies on healing.  They all work as a team.  Dr. Thorpe, in addition to being an extremely skilled physician, he is thoughtful, caring and attentive. He makes you feel as if you're his only patient taking whatever time is needed to answer any questions and keep you informed of the treatment plans. My husband came to the center unable to walk because of spine surgery and with a diagnosis of a blood disorder.  As a result of Dr. Thorpe's thoroughness, it turned out that there was no blood disorder.  The usual blood tests provided inaccurate results. The physical and occupational therapists were equally caring and skilled. The therapies had him walking and slowly becoming self sufficient. The nursing care cannot be praised enough.They were always responsive to his needs and often checked in just to see how he was doing. Our care navigator, Ms. Enitan Macarthy worked to maintain quality care and made the transition home seamless. We owe a debt of gratitude to the entire staff for getting my husband functioning well enough to come home.

I've called them every business day from 1/18/22 - 2/3/22. Most times no one answers. When I do speak with someone they say someone will get back to me, but no one has. My prescription is empty. Either this place is terribly overwhelmed or they don't care about their patients' well being. Mental health is not a joke.

I asked when I would see the dr and was told he's only there 2 days a week out of a possible 6 day work week. Oh and this wasn't one of them. (Had I known I never would have wasted my time) they repeatedly asked if I wanted to hurt myself to which I answered NO EACH TIME! The one associate was about to schedule a follow up with the invisible Dr (which I would have definitely declined) when the second said they needed to discuss privately first. At this point I smelled trouble. When the 2 non drs came back they felt it necessary for me to think about going to the hospital. My response was no I came here for a specific reason and have to go back to work. At this point 2 police officers opened the door and came in to my shock. I said please don't tell me their here for me?! To the credit of the head officer he asked that they speak to me alone. After 10 minutes they could see I was not in danger, however Utopia had filled out paperwork for me to be retained at the hospital for3 days WITHOUT MY CONSENT. The officer told me to let him simply drive me to hospital (not the one they had told me, but even though further out it was far superior in his opinion) He said no handcuffs and I could sit up front with him, because again he could see I was ok. When the officers and I left the small room, there were 4 Utopia workers with one trying to give the officer the 3 day restraint order, to which he he said he didn't need it. 1/2 drive to Adventist hospital and he shook my hand and I got out of my own choosing and gave me the dignity to make my own choices.

Everyone on staff is friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. Physical plant has a lot of space.
