As a klutz, I fell and broke and tore ligaments in my foot and sprained my ankle a few months back. Someone had told me "if you can walk on it it's not broken" so I walked on it for five weeks before going to the doctor and I learned that no, you absolutely can walk on a broken foot. Pro tip. Anyway. After two months in a boot my foot was worse than it was before (from my perspective) in that parts that didn't hurt before the boot did and of course I'd lost ALL strength and range in it. How much was from the boot and how much from the original injury hard to say. Anyway, it was at this point that my doctor recommended PT and sent me to Optimal. Hadassa took my case and she is great; over the past three months or so she's gotten the strength and range of motion in my ankle back to what it needed to be. I still have some issues with the foot that I think are deeper (pun intended) than what PT alone can resolve so I'm off to get a second opinion on that. But, I highly recommend Optimal if you need PT. I've worked mostly with Hadassa but also with Paula and Nicole, and all are excellent therapists as well as kind and caring people. What really makes Optimal stand out though is the people and the environment. I've been to probably half a dozen PT facilities over the years and as far as I can tell they've all been good at what they do, but not going to lie, it's usually boring as heck doing PT. But you won't be bored at Optimal. There is just something far more *social* about Optimal than any of the other PT places I've been, that's totally separate from the quality of the therapy (which of course is there, and is the most important thing) - but I can honestly say I never *looked forward* to going to PT before. But I've gotten to know the therapists and their assistants and even several of the other "regulars", and now that I've been released I'm going to miss hearing about everyone's adventures. I've learned it's absolutely possible to be both professional in medicine and have fun doing it, so Optimal is going to be my PT of choice next time I break myself. I went to Optimal Physical Therapy in the aftermath of a severe ankle sprain. The therapists there designed a PT regime that's absolutely enhanced my overall health and my ankle strength. The therapy setting is friendly and the staff knowledgeable and helpful. The therapists periodically reassess clients' progress adding and subtracting exercises to help clients get stronger. I have been a patient and have worked with Hadassa, Paula and the team for a few different treatment goals over the past few years and they have been a necessary part in my strength-building and recovery. I worked with Paula when I was pregnant as well as during the postpartum period and was able to feel stronger and have less pain. It's not that Hadassa and Paula aren't highly skilled physical therapists. I have no complaints about the therapy I received. However, they have the most egregious billing practices of any health care provider I have encountered. Having had numerous health problems over the last year or so, I have been to many doctors' and therapists' offices, and nowhere was I treated with as much callousness and disrespect as Optimal. - At no time was I told what my services were costing, and as such, was not given the opportunity to turn them down or to reduce the number of sessions per month in order to better suit my budget. - Rather than monthly statements, I received two enormous bills, six months apart. I was charged a tiny fraction of the actual cost at the time of each session, but did not discover how tiny this fraction was until I received a bill several months later. When I requested to be charged the true cost of my services each visit, I was told that "none of the other patients" wanted to do it that way. I tripled the amount I was paying per visit; however, the amount I was being charged per session then doubled, so the payments were still insufficient to cover accruing charges. Again, I did not discover this until several months later. - The fee scheme does not match the services I received for the last six weeks of my sessions; they were reduced in amount of time spent and number of services received, but doubled in cost. It is also suspect that the time of the doubling coincided with my discovery of the large accrued balance. - I was not told when I returned a few months later for a different issue that I had an outstanding balance. - When I went in to discuss the large balance with Hadassa, I was talked down to and treated as though I were a deadbeat client making unreasonable demands. - Most important, I would have reduced both services received and frequency of sessions if I had been aware of the true cost. The billing method appears to be specifically designed to prevent this, and instead to make absolutely certain to charge the highest possible amount to each client, and to keep the client in the dark about the true costs until it is too late to dispute them. This may not be illegal, but it is certainly unethical, and as such, I must advise that clients who are responsible for their own physical therapy costs look elsewhere for services. read more

Hadassa and Paula are skilled, caring professionals who add a bit of lightheartedness to make their patients feel welcome and comfortable. (Hadassa, in particular, has a great sense of humor.) The exercises were challenging, and sometimes I felt like I had just been to the gym, but I really enjoyed going to Optimal and actually looked forward to PT each time. I'm writing this review for those who may need detailed info regarding the final payment for the first visit. Before I visited here, I asked them how much I am supposed to pay per visit. After they verified my insurance (BCBS), they said "You have a $500 deductible that has not been met, and your co-insurance is 20%. So typically, we collect $75 each visit until you meet the deductible, and then we will collect $20 after the deductible has been met." So, I decided to go there, took the therapy, and paid $75 as expected. After a month, however, I got a bill showing a balance for the therapy which is $54.81 (the final payment: $129.81 with my insurance / it will be $239 without insurance for the first visit). What made me feel bad is that they didn't explain what the final payment will be before I took the therapy. I recently saw a review here from another patient who had a similar experience. If I had read the review I wouldn't have been there. I don't think it was worth paying $130 for the therapy. I hope this review helps those who are not familiar with such a billing system like me. read more

Because of recent moves, I have been to a couple different physical therapy offices for a long standing injury and Hadassa and Paula are by far my favorite. They are very knowledgable and I feel like I am finally getting stronger and able to return to my normal activity. They are also very friendly, always joking around and making my therapy time enjoyable instead of just a core. Making appointments is easy and they are very flexible.
