It's time for my vehicle to get smogged again, which reminded me that I wanted to share my experience of this business when I took it in for a smog check two years ago. Bottom line: I would never recommend anyone to go to that shop based on my experience. The good: there was a coupon I was able to use to save me a few dollars and it isn't too far from where I live. The bad: the rude behavior of the individuals I encountered that were working there at the time. I felt like I was in their way. My experience: I had just had my vehicle worked on the week before. When I mentioned to my mechanic that it was coming time to have it smogged I asked if there was anything I should know that would cause it not to pass. He assured me there was no reason it would not pass. He couldn't do it at the time because the battery had been disconnected for the work they did and I was told I needed to drive it for x number of miles before it could be smogged. Fast forward to the next week. The reason I didn't take it back to my mechanic is because his shop is not close. I took it to this business (ez) and was literally shocked when they told me it didn't pass. The print out showed it passed. The woman at the desk said that the person saw something that made him not pass it. When I took it back to my mechanic, he said the guy was "full of it," hooked it up, and it passed with no problem. Obviously this is anecdotal, just my one experience. However, that's all it took for me to never recommend this place to anyone I know. read more

charged me for a smog, but said the timing was off on my truck so he couldn't smog it. then offered to adjust the timing for $85.00, but would have to charge me again for another smog test. i declined and went to another shop, the timing was not, i repeat not off......... why do men think women are stupid!!!!! read more

No appointment necessary works for me. Visited their website and printed the $10 off coupon, hopped in my 2012 Golf TDI at 3pm on a Monday and headed out. No one in front of me so no waiting. Life savers! I live bicoastal and didn't realize my registration was expiring. I called four other locations nearby to see if I was able to bring my car in to get smog and certified. All the locations were unable to get me in until the following week. I called EZ Smog and explained my situation. These guys were on it! They were able to squeeze me in within a couple of hours. They explain the whole process to me, offered me some magazines to read while I wait and I was in and out the door in less than 20 minutes. I went in to get my car smog tested not realizing I needed a star station due to updating my address. Guy who helped me was really nice and gave me a referral to the nearest one to me. Recently took my 4 Runner in to be smogged and, upon arrival, realized it was less than 10 minutes till closing time. Asked if they could still smog it, that same day and the instant response was a polite yes, definitely. 25 minutes later, I was cruising down the road, with a smog certificate. Ummm, Need I really say why. Over priced, and I sent two vehicles there and they found all sort of unrelated problems and would not smog until THEY Fixed them. Well took it to another place and it was easy, there was a small problem and told us how to fix then it passed smog no problem. read more

Very unhappy with this guy. Didn't get a positive vibe from him. Should have trusted my gut. He has tons of reviews on merchant circle and they are all bad. My rig passed tailpipe easily but failed visual. The end of a vacuum hose was cracked.. He could have easily clipped off the end of the hose and passed it like the last guy did.. Out 50 bucks there. I bought some hose for 75 cents and wasted about 30 seconds making the repair. Passed easily this morning.. Yes I took it somewhere else.. read more

The internet seems to self select for bad reviews. Happy customers tend to go about their day and angry ones look for a place to vent. I hope this will help to balance the scale. I have had nothing but good experience at this shop, taking many vehicles to them over the years. It is nice to be able to drive in without an apartment. I have never waited more than an hour. Wow, super honest and up front service and advice. I have a 2013 Hybrid that I'm afraid to work on and Sean did great with it. My "projects" are always at least given me the advice about even if the advice is "I wouldn't do that if I were you". I took my Car to EZ Smog and Repair on Missouri Flat Rd. in Placerville to get a smog check. The tech told me my shocks were leaking but I told him to hold off on the repairs. Today I took my car to the dealership to get a second opinion. Upon checking my car and shocks I was told there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with them. I feel like EZ Smog and Repair tried to take me for unnecessary repairs. I called and tried to talk to the owner but the Tech, Sean, refused to tell me who the owner was or if I could speak with him...Yes I am also reporting this to BBB because of the refusal to tell me who owned this business, the unnecessary repairs they tried to take me for and all around shadiness of this business! read more

The person behind the desk was rather rude and asked someone in front of me if they had an appointment. Their ad says no appointment necessary. Then the person in front of me asked about the price and it was more than their advertisement. That person left and so did I.
