My girlfriend took her car in for a Smog test since it's right around the corner from our home. She was met with absolutely horrible service. She explained that the technician did not honor her online coupon, tried to then over charge her and upon leaving was met with arrogance and disrespect. If it's possible to have a positive experience failing your smog check this is the place its going to happen. I had shipped my dad's car out from Florida after he passed away so when I brought the car in to be smog checked the fact that the car hadn't been driven much over the last year impacted how the computers registered the "drive cycle" so it failed. I know, that is far more then you wanted to know BUT I know it because the manager (and owner) was kind enough to explain WHY I failed AND directed me to the exact information I needed and steps I needed to follow in order to pass smog the next time. Once I followed the steps, I brought the car back and before he charged me to go through the smog process again, he first plugged in a little computer to make sure the drive cycle was registering properly. Only when he confirmed that and was sure I would pass did he start the smog certification process. In short, getting your car smog check is a necessary evil BUT if you want to have the most pleasant experience possible, this is where you want to do it. PS: He was also extremely kind offering me condolences for my dad. How awesome is that. read more

I had a very negative experience at this Smog Testing site on the corner of Gilman/San Pablo. The pricing scheme is very duplicitous, without the coupon available online the basic smog test is $98, a complete rip-off. With the coupon the charge is $48. The manager was extremely rude after I mentioned to a person waiting in line there was an on line coupon. I will take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

I had a very good experience. Agree with other reviewers, the owner there (Umit) was kind and helpful. He knew exactly what has to be done. Within 20 minutes I was handed the completed smog check paperwork, stapled. I also found it located in a convenient area. It is across the street from Walgreens, Whole Foods and others. While I was waiting for the smog check, I found an awesome dollar store across the street, and was able to get great cleaning supply that was needed! I was in need to a smog test fast, but I couldn't go to my normal place back in Pittsburg. Driving along I found this hole in the wall shop. I was immediately greeted by a kindly man. The mechanic showed me the latest deal. And what a deal it was! I saved nearly forty dollars compared to the shop I normally go to in a rush. They mean what they say. I took my car to a local 76 station to get a smog check and the guy gave me a hard time that my catalytic convertor was covered and he refused to run the check. He was not nice to me about it - as if it's my fault that thieves like to steal the cat's on Prius's. But back to the point. I called EZ Star and the tech said to bring the Prius in and they'll do the check with no problems as they do hundreds of them. Done in less than 15 minutes! I was so happy with his service that I tipped him. So I guess the guy at the 76 station was either having a really bad day, or didn't know what to do with a catalytic protector plate. I'm really grateful that the technician (I believe the same man described on this page as "tall" and with "salt and pepper colored hair") helped me navigate my smog test so swiftly and painlessly. During the wait, I was about to begin recruiting other Pokemon GO players online for an Articuno raid down the street; but, before I could enlist any help, the technician had already finished the smog test and sent confirmation to the DMV (or to whatever party is meant to receive info of my pass).
