I would give them less than one star if I could! I had an issue with no access to carts when I was trying to move out and the girl in the office told me to go rent or buy one. I called the 800 number in hopes of reaching a manager and instead spoke to a condescending little jerk! I use storage facilities all over the city for my business and this is by far the worst company I've used. Had a lot of technical issues just setting up auto payments online and they won't take payments over the phone so I had to drive there to make payments. Very inconvenient. Could not get technical support to assist! I realize my next complaint is not the fault of the storage facility but it's a crap shoot as to whether or not you have to go through a homeless encampment on your way to the gate. Just another reason to stay away! read more

SCAM!!! SCAM ALERT! do not rent here. This is a scam. I came in at 5 o'clock almost at closing to rent a unit. I was not able to take possession of it for one more day. Because my paperwork said the day before they're trying to charge me for a whole Nother month illegally because they are frauds and criminals and they discriminate against white people who happen to be poor, they convince you that they are good people because the nice lady takes her money at the beginning and then this horrendous ogre charges an extra $350 at the end and then send collection agency after. MARIA-HAS the absolute worse customer service ever!!! I've been renting a space from here for years!!!! Now today she tells me I can't use a cart without leaving my Drivers License clipped to a board that's available for everyone to see. I always leave my spare keys to my house and car when I borrow the cart... I told her i would rather not have my personal information displayed she said well we already know your information . I'm said yeah if you look in the system!! So I supposed to leave my personal information for everyone to see my address and id number so I can borrow a cart. SMH. Maria always gives me a problem. I have been a customer here for 23 years until the last 8 months I had no issues. Since June of 2021 my unit was broken into 2 times while I had a lock purchased from their office. I then bought a lock from ACE Hardware and it hasn't happened since. Today I went to put a few things in my storage unit and 10 minutes later when I went to my car, the whole passenger side of my new 2021 Toyota SUV was "keyed." I went to the office to report the incident and what I got from the female office employee was a shoulder shrug. I said don't you have security cameras and security guards? I know they had security guards since they were always visible and walking around every time I went there. Her reply was, "No. Corporate decided we don't need security so there are no guards." My roommate has had her stuff stored at EZ Storage for over 20 years. Recently her storage space was broken into on 2 different occasions. There was no damage to the lock and she put a new lock with a lock that she bought from them. The stuff in her storage space was obviously rifled through, moved around, etc. Her stepladder had been against the wall and was moved into the middle of the room. In order to find out what might have been stolen she will have to completely dismantle the room. She bought a second lock from them. They did not have the lock in any kind of packaging when she purchased it so as far as she knows someone could have made a copy. It felt fishy. She requested a refund for the lock she purchased from them since it felt like someone had a copy of the key. She has had the keys in her possession since she bought the lock and no one has had access to them. She reported this to police who basically confirmed that they thought it was an inside job. Just saying to beware. They said they understand her frustration but there is nothing they could do. I rarely run in to businesses that are run like this. Rent there at your own risk. There were rodent droppings all over my belongings when I went to vacate my unit. I had to throw things out and completely disinfect and sanitize whatever else was savable. That's extremely disgusting and unacceptable. Instead of placating customers like me who this has happened to, they completely ignored me. Their lack of attention to this and failure to address it is completely unprofessional and inconsiderate. In addition, the elevator door would not lock all the way throughout the moving process, and I was told they would have maintenance look at it within a few hours. I was there for 4 hours moving my belongings out, and maintenance never showed up. I ended up having to carry everything else out of my unit up and down the stairs because it stopped working. I would absolutely never rent a unit again from them or recommend that others rent from them. And it's really disconcerting that they don't do anything to make amends with their customers who have had unsatisfactory experiences. read more

Things that are great about EZ Storage: 1) Jorge - he's super friendly and really helpful. I'm sure this can be a boring job (I don't think I've ever seen more than one employee working at a time), but he's always got a great attitude. 2) It's easy. You sign up, store your stuff, throw a lock on it, and pay your rent. Nothing complicated about it. Things that are not so great about EZ Storage: 1) The place kinda looks like a run down penitentiary or mental institute. Not exactly a place you'd want to get lost in. 2) Trying to pay online is just frustrating. I'm on my third month, and I haven't been successful yet. I've always ended up paying in person. 3) Speaking of paying...they don't ever send you a bill. You have to make sure you have a monthly alert to remind you to pay your rent. I feel like in this day and age, an email shouldn't be that hard to send out to remind your tenants that they need to pay. 4) The hours aren't as extensive as I'd like them to be. If you end up staying past their hours, they will charge you a fee. read more

I was BROKEN INTO TWICE in my first (and only) month at EZ Storage on Hatteras St. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! You'd save yourself time by just placing your items on a street corner for everyone to go through. Couldn't believe it either time. My lock was not cut so I believe they came thru the temp ceiling panel. (I also suspect it was an employee but can't prove it) I filed 2 police reports. Moved to another facility which was a pain to repack everything for the 3rd time and move AGAIN! Every single box and bag was turned upside down and gone thru. Worst part of EZ is there is ZERO accountability and no one to contact! No corporate phone number. I e-mailed a random corp address and got no response. Like zero. I think it bounces back to the front desk, which all they do is shrug their shoulders and tell you there's nothing they can do. You're on your own. What a ridiculous excuse for a business. When I was packing my things back up in the parking lot I met another man that also had items stolen from his unit. Seriously don't rent from them. You've been warned. read more

WOW! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! BEWARE! Had a rental reservation for a uhaul and tried to call to confirm it. I told the operator that calls herself a "manager", Michelle that my reservation is for Sunday and gave her my last name. She told me she doesn't have that reservation. I asked her if she is looking at the right date and told her its for Sunday. Then, she gets very offended that I even asked that question and hangs up on me. WHAT?!? It was a simple question. I go to find out she went as far as to even cancel my reservation. I never even spoke to her before in my life. Walls in secured storage should not be made of drywall. Unit next to mine broke the drywall and items were removed from my unit. I would recommend plywood or metal walls. Drywall is very easy to break. read more

Yes I will admit I do get scared walking in the storage units alone but this will happen at anywhere thanks to watching scary movies. I have never had my unit broken into and the staff is always helpful with making payments or moving in and out of a unit. AVOID AVOID AVOID! I've rented Uhauls for 20 years and from over 100 places, this has to be the absolute worst place to get a uhaul from. Just read the other reviews, I don't seem to be the only unsatisfied customer. Do not rent a storage unit from here either. Eventhough the facility is 24/7 access, if you enter the facility using your passcode on the entry pad outside without a vehicle, once you get inside and the gate closes on you, you're trapped without any way of getting out, HUGE HUGE emergency liability which I am currently in the middle of suing this facility because I was myself trapped in. The reason is because their keypad that's inside the facility to allow you to enter a code and be let out, doesn't work, so the only way you can exit the facility is if you have a vehicle. BE WARNED, if you enter this facility before 10am or after they close around 6pm, be aware that you will be trapped inside unless you're with a vehicle. And if you see the employee Jacob and tell him you've been trapped inside because of their non-working keypad, he will accuse you of trying to break in, instead of just apologizing. So many other Uhauls, avoid this place at all costs. read more

Not sure why everyone is hating on EZ Storage! I've been renting a unit for a month and don't have any complaints. Actually I do have one complaint, but it's with the other renters. When you use a cart lock it back up! It's very annoying when I give my ID to get a key for a cart and the cart isn't there because it wasn't locked up and some random decides to use it. But that's not the employees fault. Every time I have called they have answered. The facility is clean and the units were very reasonable. Every employee I have interacted with has been pleasant and professional. If anything changes I will update but otherwise consider me a happy customer! read more

Yes, the people are nice there, but that doesn't make it "EZ"! We've been customers for almost four years and just moved out of our storage unit (yay!). Generally speaking: 1) It's clean 2) Haven't felt unsafe there 3) Automatic payments have been easy and they've always called me, if the CC expired. 4) There's usually a dolly available (except during their lunch hours). Here are my two main gripes: 1) Their hours of operation (10am-7pm Mon-Sun) are difficult to work with. They also take lunch from 2pm-3pm so you can't find anyone there and you can't get a dolly during those hours. 2) Their prices have gone up each year without any notice. The thing with the hours, I'm guessing is because of security problems and I can understand that. But can you at least open up early for those of us who have normal working hours? Being open 10am-7pm makes no sense at all and it just doesn't cut it! Considering how hot it is in the summer and no AC or fans in that place, it would be nice to be able to come in early and not feel like you're gonna die of heat exhaustion! It would also help a lot, if we need something during the week and can't wait for the weekend to go to storage. read more

Michelle is horrible!!! I can't believe someone would actually trust her to run the facility. She is rude, disrespectful, and useless. My husband's father had a stroke and we have power of attorney to take care of his affairs. He now lives in the bay area, so we are moving his things to be closer to him. We spoke to Amy on the phone and sent her a copy of the power of attorney papers. Then she asked for a note from the doctor. THEN she asked for a letter from the caregiver. After providing all the documents they requested we drive to the storage facility. We live in Sacramento so we have to rent a Uhaul and get a hotel for Saturday night. We arrive at the storage facility and Michelle refuses to let us in because she is unable to check emails after 5 pm on Friday, and we had to wait till Monday. All she had to do is scroll down. She refused to let us talk to anyone else, and offered no solution. Additionally, before we went to the storage facility we told her we needed a locksmith. You think she would have told us that the locksmith wouldn't be there that day. At the end of the trip, we had to pay for an extra day in the hotel, an extra day for the Uhaul, and a locksmith. All this because Michelle can't scroll down when checking emails, and can't pick up the phone and call the owner. read more

EZ Storage Users, BEWARE! In 2013, my mother entered a nursing home and my family put her belongings and other family things in EZ Storage. The unit we rented was 30' X 10' and cost about $450.00 a month. It took two trips with a large (26' X 9') U Haul truck to transport all of our belongings into storage. I paid rental fees to EZ Storage for months when I was hospitalized.. A young man representing E Z Storage showed up on June 22, at my hospital bed at 7 pm, demanding $1050.00 by 9 pm or all of our belongings would be sold at auction the following morning. Being unable to reach anyone else, I called EZ Storage to confirm they had sent the man and I gave him a good check right then. They sent him back with a receipt. I continued to pay them monthly fees. However, it was 2 1/2 months later before I could get a pass to leave the hospital to visit the storage unit. When I did, I was shocked to discover the unit was empty! EZ Storage did, in fact, sell everything at auction for $300 the very next day after I paid the man in the hospital. By now, I had paid about $1800 in storage fees and waited over a year for their response to my claim. At first, they tried to buy me off with a check for $1363.69 and a waiver. After I rejected it and sought legal help, their insurance company finally responded, telling me that EZ Storage was responsible for only $2500. When I tried to get photos of my family property that EZ Storage had, only one of the random articles in the photos appeared to belong to any of my family. But EZ Storage claimed that these (2 shopping carts) were the only items that the storage unit had contained, which was less than laughable. We had stored many more items, including valuable antiques and heirlooms. It was more than wrong for them to auction off someone's property when the rent was fully paid.
