I came here to rent a U-Haul to move some Furniture locally. The location is so clean and there is parking available, which is key. Many U-Haul rental places won't allow you to leave your car there but offer parking. Daniel the manager was so kind, the truck was super clean and the gas tank higher than what he expected me to bring it back in. I was a sliver under the three quarter mark when I brought it back and he didn't charge me, very gracious service! I highly recommend them for U-Haul rentals! read more

These people do not understand what closing time means. I left work early to drop some things off. I pulled up to a closed gate and an employee smoking a cigarette on the bumper of the U-Haul on the other side of the gate. I pointed out it was 5:45 and the sign states they are open until 6:00. He told me I could come back the next day. How does he know if I can come back the next day? He replied that it takes them 15 minutes to close up the building, as if 6:00 closing means that employees leave at 6:00 PM, not that customers can access their stuff until 6:00 PM. He stated that they close early everyday and that the managers can do what they need to do. If you close at 5:45 (or who knows when they actually close the gates, 5:45 at the latest) every day, then why do you advertise that you are open until 6:00 P.M.? BTW, I am in and out in 10 minutes easy, so would not have kept anybody past 6:00 PM. I see that several customers have complained below about the same issue and this business chooses to keep on closing early. They don't care about the customer. They just want you to send money and accept that they advertise false hours. read more

I was forced out of my home of 25 years at the end of 2019. I needed to put basically all my possessions in storage. I chose the StorCal at 15025 Oxnard in Van Nuys. I hired someone to help me move in. It quickly became evident that I mis-judged the size. The gentleman who worked there offered me a second unit for $20 cash--a two-for-one deal. I was obviously very grateful. However... I've only been there to either put something in or take something out, maybe 3 times since I moved in on 1/3/20. As of either very late '20, or very early '21, all my stuff was in the 2 units. But, as of 3 weeks ago, I went to get something, and there were 2 locks on my 2nd unit (the one given to me in the deal), and they weren't mine. I asked in the office downstairs and was told someone else had that unit since March of '21. They said their records do not indicate that they removed my lock and auctioned off my stuff. I'm being told the only possibility is that someone just happened to choose that unit to cut off my lock, and take not only $5000 worth of musical instruments, but all my furniture, including several very tall book cases, a lazy-boy chair, etc. As it stands right now, it appears half of my possessions are gone. Police came to talk to them, but since my name was never added to the 2nd unit, it appears I'm screwed. My only recourse at this point is possibly taking them to small claims court. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this particular StorCal location? If so, it may mean that something criminal is happening there that would be considered "inside jobs". If not, either I'm the first victim of an inside job, or thieves just happened to cut off my particular lock on that particular unit that happened to not be in my contract. Bottom line: Either the employee was kind and did me a favor, or the entire situation was a scam. I believe in Innocent Until Proven Guilty. However, some of his comments to me the last 3 weeks have been more than a little suspicious. Or, again, my unit just happened to be targeted by thieves who would have had to be at least 2 strong, have cut off my lock, have made multiple trips up to the 3rd floor and back, during regular business hours, and done so walking back-and-forth right in front of the 2 employees. Very different experience here than most people it seems. Have had nothing short of a good experience. It's a storage unit, I don't expect perfection and extreme cleanliness. Staff is extremely helpful and always super kind. Elevator only has been out once out of me renting this unit for 3 years and I have a 3rd floor unit. Was able to get a deal on insurance for the unit as well so I don't feel like i'm paying an outrageous amount. No bugs, no water damage, all my stuff looks great. About to move out of here as I've been selling some of my old stuff, and I just want to say I truly appreciate the staff here. Always a pleasure to say hi to whoever's at the desk. read more

This place is under new management and things have changed for the worst. They have set new rules and regulations that seem to hurt their clients. I wanted to drop something off that was time sensitive to my storage unit at 5:45pm and I see one of the workers closing the gate. They are supposed to close at 6pm. The worst part is he heard me saying I'm outside and just need to drop a box off and he continues to close the gate and say, "sorry we're closed." I would give this new management a zero for customer service if I could! Terrible way to do business and would def recommend not using this company!! If zero stars were possible, that would be too high. My husband and I used this facility for about ten years, in spite of the elevator only working half the time. We had a third floor unit and over the summer that because a major issue. We had camping gear we couldn't access, but I was also unable to access items that I use for a small catering/craft services business. After hemming and hawing for two months, they finally credited us for two months, but in doing so, turned off our auto-pay. We had no idea(yes, we should keep a better eye, but still).. they 'said' multiple notices were emailed and snail mailed, and when they didn't hear from us, NO PHONE CALL, mind you-- they put a lien on our unit. I get that that's what's done, but zero customer service-- had they made a single phone call, I would have been saved from a massive anxiety attack, and not had to remove my items in a single day. I was very lucky that I just happened to return my empty Christmas boxes(that I just picked dup, and there was no letter or noticed on or under my unit) TWO DAYS before the scheduled auction! I high tailed it out of that unit and found a Much Nicer, better maintained and more customer oriented facility 5 minutes away! STAY AWAY. And if you ARE a current customer who has the same issue over the summer, you should make sure you are paid up and your items aren't being auctioned in two days! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT! This use to be one of the best hidden gems in the valley. It was always nice n clean and ran in a very professional way. Now, it's more reminiscent of an abandoned mental institution. There's people carrying on playing loud music like it's their house and trash everywhere. Including, just being able to leave your larger items laying around anywhere you want. They closed their bathroom to their tenants because some supposedly flooded it. Not to mention the new management and staff are rude and beyond lazy. They also set up my account for automatic payment without my permission! Like i said, this place use to be a nice little gem. Now, it's just a dump being run by people who could care less about doing their job right. This is for the U-HAUL rental service I had from 10/18/20-10/20/20. I had a great experience with the staff here. I did a mobile pickup on Sunday 10/18/20 for a 17' U-HAUL truck. No problems there and the staff member was friendly and fast in giving me my key. Upon return, a staff member saw me return, after 5pm, and promptly came out as I was parking the truck to help. He confirmed the fuel and odometer reading and the vehicle. Confirmed what cc I was leaving the rental on and gave me my receipt. Super quick, efficient and friendly. No issues! Lazy Got here at 3:40 and they were closed! I called And begged the storage attendant to let me drop off my things as I was leaving on a international flight and had no where to keep the stuff. I had just paid the day before too! He said " it wasn't his fault that I can't manage my time and if I open it for you then I'll have to let everyone in" Ummm. Isn't that the point? I called and they confirmed that she cancelled the order. Nothing else was available. THE WORST. PERIOD. Firstly, they are under new management and the new customer service guy with brunette hair is obnoxious and is never available. When you call the phone rings and goes to an outdated answering machine. When you come to the building there is rarely anyone there to take care of you. They rarely clean the place so you might see a big cockroach turned upside down in the walkway for a week or two. I have been to several storage facilities in search for fair pricing and good service. I definitely found that here at the StorCal in Van Nuys. The manager Keon and the assistant manager Matt were very patient and helpful when it came to going around and searching for a unit that would fit the extra things from my apartment. I ended up going with a 5'x9' unit which was plenty of room for the boxes of clothes and dining set that I just couldn't fit in my new place. The facility has a large elevator to get things up to my unit as well as pushcarts which are very helpful when moving several things at once. I would definitely recommend this storage place to anyone in need of a place to put their things. read more

He is slow and continues works on other office business although he has a customer he is supposed to be helping. Want to engage in meaningless chit-chat about whether the post office is open today? Worst storage ever! If you want your storage broken into and your property stolen then rent here. I reported a burglary at my storage unit after my lock was missing and replaced with another ( The same sold at Stor Cal), made a police report and StorCal insurance is has now stated, they are denied my claim and will not pay for my stolen property, even though I pay for insurance. Stor Cal has only cameras on the outside of their building and in the corridors, NO cameras down the hallways where the actual units are, HOW CONVENIENT FOR STOR CAL AND THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY. Stor Cal at this location has had numerous employee changes in the last few months as well.This business needs to be investigated. Keep your stored personal property elsewhere !!!! read more

Do not rent a UHaul from here! The guy who works on Sat is awful he get there at 10:52 am when you a reservation and then makes you wait until 11:05 am before he opens all the while telling you "we don't open until 11 am" making you wait until after 11am then says the computer won't load up. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't employees be there a few minutes prior to get the computer operational by opening time?! Then he tries to up sell you to buy more insurance even though he already has you way behind schedule when you say you don't need it and you need to go he starts to lag even more and tell you "oh this is going to take at least 20 min" Who takes 20 min to rent a truck especially when they do this all the time!! Clearly he doesn't like his job and wants everyone else to pay for his misery!! DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY!! You will be sorry!! read more

Worst check out ever. Was told when I signed off my unit that I had prepaid to end of month and because I was leaving 15 days early, I would be pro-rated a refund. I trusted the girl signing me off, as I had already been told earlier that month the exact same info when I inquired about leaving. After I was checked out, signed by her and myself, they continued to charge my card. I sent 2 emails and had to phone 3 times to get anyone to respond. I called my cc to deny charge. Finally the manager calls me back and says he will reverse the charge they made but WILL NOT refund anything, even though it is written by hand on my release form and signed. I've argued, and told them I'd write this review and they could care less. So be it!. DISHONEST read more
