Golden State North Hills was great today. (Some of you Yelpers were kind of upset with one or two of the managers but the only person I saw there was Sarah... and she was great.) Let me back up a bit. I've been texting with Sarah about unit availability and keeping one on hold and she was nice and even personable via text. Anyway, my "hold time" was running out so went over today to sign up and she was just as pleasant in person.. explained everything and made sure I was happy with the unit. And I even get the sense that Sarah and Golden State are not the typical jack-up-your-rent-every-six-months corporate jerks like Public Storage. (But if they are I will let the Yelp universe know in a few months!!!) read more

I won a storage unit auction from this facility. I offered to rent the unit and take over the payment. Every other storage facility that I worked with was happy to do that. The person I spoke to started yelling and screaming that I won't tell him how to do his job; he called himself a manager. He became extremely angry and hostile. To the point that I had to hang up. Long story short, I don't want the unit or go near that psycho. I don't understand why someone would not want to make money by renting the unit to someone who already has staff in it. Reading the other reviews I can see that there is a problem here. Why that person is still employed is the question. read more

I'm rescinding my previous review. Both Wyman and Angelica are extremely rude and condescending beyond belief. My fiancé and I were just trying to move out on a Sunday afternoon and she came in arguing and aggressive because I "didn't knock on the door" when the blinds were closed and the closed sign was up. Her justification is that it's a dangerous area yet I don't see how other peoples actions should cause her to act negatively and aggressively towards my fiancé and I. Additionally, I live down the street so I know exactly how this area is. The storage unit itself was good however I high recommend avoiding this place solely due to the employees on site. Wyman and Angelica. Edit: for Brian the manager : Wyman mentioned to me that he and his family do not like the area when they were forced to transfer back to Roscoe. It's likely that they are doing this on purpose to force a transfer out or something but it is very unpleasant overall. I'm more than happy to discuss civilly if you want any information. This is not the first time since we started that we've had a negative experience so I will be glad to give you any information. read more

This manager is certifiably crazy. Like actually insane. He locked us out of our storage and we had to call the cops. He was screaming at us because he didn't like the look of the gentleman who came to help us pick up our stuff, so he changed our gate code and put locks on our units and said he wouldn't let us in to access our units and move our stuff out. We called the police and he was forced to open it. We moved to the location on sepulveda where they are lovely and a pleasure to work with. read more

Really clean and professional managment. I have been renting at this location for over 4 years now. Both Angelica and her manager have been very helpful and respectful. At times when I forget to make a payment they follow up to avoid getting a late charge. I find it funny how people reviews are poorly of the staff. Most of these people are mostly folks who don't like to follow rules or procedures. (Most likely a Karen) Previously I had rented at Sherman Oaks Mini storage now being bought by Extra Space storage. Prices at those locations were extremely expensive and ludicrous. I am now getting a bigger storage at this place to put in more of my items as I have grew out of the small 5x15 storage that I currently have. Thank you to Angelica and her staff for being on top on this facility! I'll be sure to refer my friends and family! Keep; keeping the place clean and pristine! Terrible social skills and horrible management! (And possibly unsafe as stated by the employee Angelica) Every interaction my fiancé and I have had with with both Wyman and Angelica in the 5 months we've rented the space (paying on time and no complaints) have been aggressive and rude, but I've brushed it off assuming maybe it's just a bad day. I'm not one to goes as far as reaching out and write reviews but I have never been treated so poorly by an individual. The blinds are always closed and a "closed" sign on the door, you wouldn't assume someone is on site or maybe on lunch. They don't stick to the posted hours on the door and gates and give you a hard time during the times that are inconvenient for them. In attempts to close out and remove our belongings from the storage space my fiancé called the front to see anyone was on site. Angelica was EXTREMELY aggressive and condescending on the phone and my fiancé stated "I can call at a better time so we can handle this in person to get everything situated". After the call was over, 1 minute later Angelica arrives speeding in a golf cart, giving attitude and having a very aggressive demeanor. We both stated that we can speak to someone else at another time because it seemed like she didn't want to help us. We asked "have we've specifically done anything to her for her to treat us like this" She speaks aggressively raising her voice "We're in a high Transit area, there are a lot of homeless and aggressive people that come here banging on the door and trying to open it. That's why the blinds are close and door is locked" We then asked again "have WE done anything for you to treat us like that"...she then stated "you are aggressive and we don't have to speak, you owe this much so I'll charge your card on file" then also stated "next time try knocking on the door" (even though all the blinds are closed and there's a "closed" sign hanging on the door and she just said she gets scared when someone knocks on the door) There have been a few other poor interactions but this one just set it off. I would NOT recommend anyone storing anything here. I also want to note that we were referred here because of previous management and the convenience of the location. The employees working there now seem miserable. I initially thought they were just having a bad day but you can only say that the first few times...every interaction seems a little excessive. read more

I just heard that managers Paul and Susan are retiring next month. I am beyond Bummed about this as they have been absolutely TOP NOTCH. Dealing with an assortment of attitude types, Paul and Susan always keep a calm professional demeanor. They have always been there to help in any way they can. These 2 are definitely an asset to Golden State Storage and I for one am sad to see them go. I can only hope that whoever's chosen to replace them has 1/2 the ability to keep a large variety of customers happy. Who ever they may be sure has some very large shoes to fill. First of all difficult to get a hold of a human to answer the phone. I only had the option to press 1 only to get automated machine that someone will give you a call back. Not one's but multiple times I ran with this issue. Second, I did reservation online as website stated storage available. Deposited,reserved,arrived to location and all was simply false advertising. Do not trust them! Very unprofessional! Never will do business with them! read more

Glad I went with this storage facility when I moved here 3 years ago. Always easy to get in touch with someone when I needed help. Wylie (not sure if I spelled this right) is the best and extremely friendly. Seamless process and the facility is clean and secure. Prices are great for what you get relative to the location. Easy to access units and a large moving truck can get in and out easily. read more

The manager and associate Wylie and Angelica are the most unprofessional people I've encountered. They are very rude disrespectful and have free rain to do whatever and however apparently. I witnessed them be aggressive and hostile and literally both run up on a customer as they were screaming like children that need a good spanking. It was like I was watching a and e intervention on someone who has outbursts like a child throwing a screaming tantrum? I'd never allow someone to work for not come close to even being anything to a manager of my business. I would definitely re evaluate my employees. I even took videos of the two employees when they were screaming at the said customer. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Just a heads up so no one else ever has to be in a situation where a manager of a business is literally being what looks like a disrespectful bully . Grown ups do not act that way. read more

Good the first 9 of 10 years. Late 1 time in ninth year and they could not see their way to forgive the late fee on the 22nd day of the month. So, I made a plan to get out of there...today is that day. Sure hope the demand for $15 was worth losing a faithful, long time, paying customer. read more

STAY AWAY! FAR AWAY! The day I was moving out was met by a man from Orkin Pest control who was there spraying. He asked if I had seen any Rat poop in my unit because there is a huge rat problem. I said no, but later as I was sweeping up, sure enough. Then I noticed the management had put rat poison in my unit before I moved in. It was hidden in the corner. Also there were big holes in my unit walls where Im sure the rats were coming in. I stayed 2 months. Gross. Additionally, the manager is oddly rude, confrontational and aggressive nut bag. He likes to drive up in his golf cart behind you , sometime startling you and gives you his opinion on everything while asking nosey questions. He told me I had an attitude problem because I wasn't being remorseful enough when I left 7 min late after closing one night. I apologized but I guess it wasn't enough. He was so angry and threating about it. I thought he was joking at first. FYI.(If you run one second after closing at 6 the gates are locked, your out code wont work, your locked in and he has to come out and let you out). Its such a weird place. Side note: I would never let my wife or girlfriend rent there. The place is empty most of the time and with him creeping around..... its weird. Best to stay away! read more

Moving is always a pain but they always help in any way they can. Always a pleasure dealing with Golden state Storage and managers like Paul and Susan. checked out today with 3 weeks left of rental after last payment. attendant smiled and said we are "notorious" for not refunding pro rated rent not used, telling me "you should have read the fine print!" Beware, no air conditioning in metal roofed units. measured temperature inside at 106 degrees. stay away. any other storage facility would be better and worth the money. read more

I've had storage units at different facilities in the past, but Golden State Storage is by far the best. The management is wonderful and very pleasant. If I need a storage unit facility in the future, Golden State Storage on Roscoe Blvd., is where I'll go! read more

Everyone in their office was friendly and helpful. I never had an issue with theft like other places as they really go by the book to make sure that your unit is secure and only accessed by the owner. TheyThey are very quick to respond to any concerns or questions we had. And the access to every unit was easy. Because it is near a freeway things would collect dusty quick, but nothing our tarp couldn't handle. read more
