It looked and smelled like it came out of a dumpster. This was the worst pizza we have ever experienced. Go the opposite way!

Updating my review from a couple of years ago. The garlic knots are still the best in town. The food and pizza are absolutely delicious. And we were able to get an 18 " speciality pizza 1/2 Carnivore and 1/2 Bianco Deluxe. Most places don't let you split a speciality pizza like that. Service was great. Hailey was very friendly and helpful. Looks like they changed the inside a bit and it was booths now. There is picnic tables outside and I am not sure if that is new or not new. Highly recommend checking out this place for pizza. You won't regret it. And don't forget to get those garlic knots. :)

Great pizza good service. Amanda took care of our order well. She said 20 minutes. It was done in 18. Not really sure what New York style pizza taste like, but it was very good . My kid loved the garlic knots. Ambience is great for a small family run pizza joint Will go back again !

Omg these burgers, fries, and BBQ sauce!

We're absolutely blown away in every way! Worth the drive from oceanfront! The best burgers, pizza, bbq sauce, ranch, and garlic knots I've had in all my 35 years of coming to Virginia Beach every summer. Their fries and cheddar jalapeño bites are so good too. Those garlic knots are famous for a reason! Wow just WOW! The place was really clean. There's plenty of inside and outside seating. Plenty of parking. The staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming! It's family own and ran and they're great! We ate like kings there and can't stop talking about it. Huge delicious portions and reasonable prices. We're from NY (Queens and Western NY) and picky about pizza, ranch, burgers, and garlic knots! We LOVED them! Do yourself a favor and go to the pizza box!

The Box Deluxe with banana peppers added. Yum

Good New York style pizza, Friendly service. My friend is allergic to bacon of all things. She cannot even have the food if it is cooked on the same grill as the bacon. We checked. This place is great. She got a smashed chicken sandwich and fries. I got to taste it . I am getting this next time. It was great. It is a small restaurant. 4 booths and a couple of tables. There is some seating outside. We have never had an issue getting a table. Quite a few people get it to go or delivery. We usually go on the weekend. There is a steady flow but your food comes out fairly quick. We usually get the "Box Deluxe" 12inch. Sometimes we add stuff on. That is always nice that even with a specific pizza they let you customize and add on. There is plenty of parking because you can also park in the TJMaxx parking lot

YES first let me apologize for no pictures of the food, the reason why I destroyed it each and every time. Every Item I have had was amazing, the staff even let me try some food, the guy on the pit outside can burn. The ladies taking your order are full of smiles and laughs, and the cooks just DO WORK!!! They also have a bit of a throwback theme inside the restaurant. If you are driving to fast down the BLVD you will past it, but turn around U-TURN, catch a bus, cab, I don't care just get there and you will leave full and will order more food for dinner later on that day.

This restaurant is attached to a pawn business and is literally close to Virginia Beach Blvd, we entered the Foodlion parking lot, and the search began. Come to finally investigate a free-standing building with pawn signs. From the rear of this place, the signs from the back did not identify it as "The Pizza Box," just offerings of select food...subs and something else. Had we gone past it and turned at the light, it would have been no problem. Next time. No wait, order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. The staff was warm and welcoming. After a brief conversation, we learned they make their own dough and sauce. We were ready for a treat. Also, they have a handwritten board on the corner of the counter with specials. My husband ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup, one of his favorites, and this version did not disappoint. What arrived was a square bowl of piping hot soup with a basil leaf on top, under that was some cheese, I am guessing shredded mozzarella, but i could be wrong. This soup had texture to it, like the whole tomato minus the seeds all blended into a delightful, fragrant creation. A+ there, he really enjoyed it. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and a large size (10) garlic knots that the reviews raved about. They were the best I have ever had, crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside. Fresh out of the oven, so aromatic. They were served on a plate circling a small cup of marinara sauce, all sprinkled with parmesan cheese. 5 went home. The pizza slice was the low point of the meal, a bit dry. It did have a thin crust, which I prefer, that may have contributed to its dryness. Next time, I will order a full pizza rather than a slice. The flavor was good, I have to give them that, and the pepperoni was just right. The chicken wings also had great reviews and market priced, which gives us something to look forward to next visit. Fountain drinks come in an oversized glass, so appreciated. I was looking at the smoker and picnic tables out front and thinking that must bring in the crowds when it is operating. There is something about a smoker with billowing smoke and the meat in it, making you want it. Thinking about the traffic going by and being drawn in, I know I would have stopped. There are plenty of areas to park and walk in at street level. The dining room is small, just a few tables and a few high-top bar seats, all very clean. I would actually give 4.5 stars if the pizza was more on target, then clearly 5 stars. The staff does a great job, plenty of quality to be proud of.

35 fantastic wings, bleu cheese, celery & an ordered side of extra honey hot sauce
    Brennen K.

It's been a little bit, but I got the craving for pizza & wings yesterday. Unfortunately, it was Monday so my hopes were dashed but I just decided Tuesday would be alright! Knew it would be 45-60min delivery, hey quality is not lightning speed & I planned accordingly. Happily ordered up on Local/Toast as soon as my work was done. Ordered 35 wings cuz last time I was disappointed I ate the bakers dozen so fast. Ordered crispy cooked honey hot, as usual- OMD, perfect. Crunchy skin and juicy tender inside! Went a lil different on pizza, pepperoni, pineapple and extra cheese. Crispy cooked, also. Accidentally clicked bacon, removed, then thought- WTF NOT? It was a good choice to go with happy accident. Excellent addition. The crust, as always, is perfect balance of crispy, biteable exterior with a really nice pull/chew that is perfectly satisfying. My only complaint is on me- I forgot the garlic knots! But honestly this will keep me busy for a while. And let me tell you- with air fryer for reheats leftovers are just as amazing as fresh delivered. If I were going to eat it all upon delivery, like if there were several folks available, I might order Xtra crispy for my personal preference. But honestly the crispy is fantastic, and lets me re-live the fresh delivered with no detriment. The quality of ingredients is always a step above, the delivery folks are always professional & super nice, and the taste is always exceptional. I don't even mess around when I want delivery, I know exactly where to go for a consistently exceptional experience. Thank you, Pizza Box!

Literally our new favorite pizza spot. Mom and Pop vibes. Great service. These people are so kind. We usually opt for a 14" half pep and sausage and half broccoli and onion. I typically order a beer while I wait and they always offer a chilled glass. At $28, plus the option to sign up for loyalty rewards, Pizza Box is a steal for how good this pizza. I cannot get enough.

They have authentic New York style pizza. Great variety of pizzas. We get the "Box Deluxe " good flavor on the sauce with the right about of toppings. 12 inch is plenty for my wife and I for lunch. Great service and really friendly staff. Beer and soda available. I like to get the lemonade

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

The menu is small but very intentionally focused. They offer smash burgers done right, the iconic Norfolk snap dog, ice-cold beers, wine, and classic cocktails, and the prices are honestly great for the quality. It's small, so definitely expect a wait during busy times, but it's absolutely worth it. They also have outdoor seating, which will be clutch once the warm weather really kicks in. I ordered a Modelo, the F&P style fries, and the Mickey Burger. The fries are next-level, very much giving In-N-Out animal style vibes topped with grilled onions, Goodboy sauce, and cheese. I could eat those alone and be happy. The Mickey Burger comes with a double patty, cheese, Goodboy sauce, pickles, lettuce, onions, and a sesame bun. I subbed the raw onions for grilled onions (highly recommend), and it was perfection. Juicy, crispy-edged, flavorful ... everything a smash burger should be. I truly can't express how good this place is. The service was great, the food was unreal, and I'm already planning my next visit. Next time, I'm definitely trying their espresso martini. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
