Very disappointed in my latest delivered, very bare vegetable pizza. I wish I took a picture to show the difference from my first delivery 9 months ago, which was fabulous. I can accept that the price has gone up, but not that you've changed the quantity of the ingredients. I'm not kidding, I think there was an entire mushroom for the whole pizza, extremely thin sliced. I tried Sal's for the first time. I was at a nearby store & thought I'd stop in for a slice. I ordered a slice cheese. The woman at the register said they had just put a pie in the oven it would be ready in 10 minutes. It was fresh and she threw in some garlic knots and some maninara sauce. The slice was good. Perfect amount of sauce & cheese with some olive oil on top. The crust was thin (NY style) just maybe a little under done. When I folded the slice about 3 inches of the slice flopped down. (A perfect slice would have folded from the edge to the point. I like a little more crust at the edge of the pie, but not a deal breaker. All in all a good pizza, fairly authentic NY style. I'd rate it an 8 out of 10. I'll eat there again and maybe try a sandwich. read more

As someone visiting from NJ, this pizza was actually pretty good ! On the downside though, we ordered fried pickles and they were completely undercooked and mushy/doughy . Especially for $11 ... we ended up throwing away those greasy lil pickles. We did call back to let them know the pickles weren't great and they did offer a free appetizer on our next order. Soooooo our friend from Northern Virginia was coming to visit, but he got stuck in traffic. Our restaurant plans for dinner were cancelled. We needed something easy to eat and delivered to our house. We saw Sal's and figured we would give them a try! We got the jalapeño poppers, garlic knots, alfredo pie, and pepperoni pizza. The jalapeño poppers are chEEsy in an amazing kind of way. The garlic knots are so well seasoned. To be honest these were my favorite. I felt that both pizzas needed a bit more sauce for my liking. I also wish the garlic knot seasoning was on the crust of the pizza. That would be bomb. I truly appreciate that they serve a white sauce pizza, as many places don't. White sauce is always one of our favorites. I enjoy the thin slices, making it not too doughy. The delivery person was nice! We did not see the inside since it was delivery. read more

New York Pizza in the heart of Virginia Beach {Update} Management contacted me regarding my previous order and offered to make it right. Based on a recommendation, we decided to carb-load by ordering a pizza pie to go. Unfortunately, some of the toppings that we requested through the online order form were missing from the pizza. We did not realize this until we arrived home. Since we were in extreme hangry mode, we did not feel that it was necessary to make another trip to Sal's to get another pizza. Since this can happen any place, we hope to give Sal's another try in the very near future (and I'll be sure to update my ranking). The pizza is really good! Large, greasy slice that says NY (not Buffalo, but NYC). Not too skimpy on the pepperoni. So win! Oregano and garlic powder- a must. Nice selection of soda- Pepsi products. Unethical business practice!!!! I called to ask for them to only put tomato's on half of my margarita pizza because you aren't allowed to add any special instructions on their door dash site. They didn't even tell me but added $10 to my order for making me a custom pizza. What a crock of total shit to charge for putting less ingredients and then to not even tell me. I like their Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple. If you like garlicky goodness, this is the place to get your stromboli and calzone. Their margherita pizza was also satisfying and garlicky. And their lemon pepper wings are the best around. Ordered this on our way home from the beach tonight. The lady on the phone was very nice and said it'd be 15 til we'd be able to pick it up, perfect timing for us to get there. We got there and had to wait a little, but not too long, til it was ready. My dad and I got a half cheese and half pepperoni 18" and asked for it to be well done. We got home and heated it up a little in the oven and opened it up and it looked so good. While it does look greasy, it doesn't make a pool of oil on your plate. Asking for it to be well-done was definitely the right choice though, it had a lovely burnt marbling on the bottom. When I say burnt, I don't mean it was all you tasted by the way, it just added a little extra flavor and a more crisp texture. The dough was a bit on the chewy side, but nothing too bad. The cheese isn't pull apart stringy, which I don't mind. It is nicely flavorful, and the sauce is quite nice as well. Overall a good experience, but I'm gonna go try more pizzas before I come here again. read more

I was super excited to try this place based off the reviews. I admit the pizza was pretty good but not the best I have had. In addition to the pizza, I ordered the cannoli and the chocolate mousse cake. The cannoli had a decent flavor, but the shell was absurdly stale and even soft and mushy in some places. Next the cake: It was also decent in flavor, until halfway through I noticed MOLD on the top of damn cake! YES MOLD! Inexcusable... How damn long has this cake been sitting their case/fridge?!?! Definitely wish we found this place sooner--so good! We were at a brewery with no food so our friends suggested pizza! We let them choose the spot and order delivery. A little while later this MASSIVE pizza showed up! Not only was it delicious but well made. Our friends are vegetarians so only half had meat. The pizza was meticulously prepared and exactly half had meat. I wasn't familiar with Sal's at the time but glad we were introduced! After our first experience, we recently returned. We thought we ordered a reasonable size pizza but it barely fit in the front seat with my SO lol. Pizza was just as delicious and we were not disappointed. We found this place and I am so glad we did! not really sure why Dave wanted to get the biggest pizza that they had but he did LOL. That thing would not even sit in the car!
