Time to GIDETT!!! Back day!!!
Faye A.

So here we are: Gold's Gym got a makeover, slapped on an EoS name tag, and is now living its best rebranded life at the Shoppes at Santa Anita. Prime location, honestly!! You can grind out shoulders and triceps while your teens roam the mall like it's their natural habitat. Everybody wins!!! It's got the essentials, sauna, steam room, cardio machines, racks, free weights, etc the whole "I worked out so now I deserve to sit in hot air" experience. But don't get too bougie. No shark tank. No cryo lounge. No futuristic recovery pod that makes you feel like a leftover entrée being flash-frozen for later. The vibe is very much "Gold's Gym in witness protection." Same bones, new haircut, pretending we don't remember who it used to be. If you've been to the West Covina one, you'll get déjà vu, like ordering the same dish at a different location and pretending it tastes slightly different. It doesn't. But hey, it still gets the job done. Get those recovery rooms in!! That's one of the rewards after a long workout!!

The former Gold's Gym on the third floor of Santa Anita Mall is now EōS Fitness, which has locations all across So Cal. The original Venice Beach location is the only one stays as Gold's Gym. I've been a member here since summer 2021 and have renewed twice using a prepaid two-person membership for my husband and me. Paying upfront makes the price very reasonable. I'm not sure how much the staff has changed since the transition to EōS, as I haven't paid much attention. I mainly attend the group fitness classes and occasionally use the treadmills, while my husband focuses on the weight equipment. Like most gyms, it does get crowded in the evenings. Over the past few months, I've started taking morning classes and really wish they would offer Les Mills Tone and Dance in the evenings as well. At night, the main options are Body Pump, Body Combat, and Body Attack, which are all great cardio classes, but more variety would be better. Parking at the mall can sometimes be a hassle. I thought it might ease up after Forever 21 closed, but it's still just as busy during the holidays. When we renewed, the Gold's manager mentioned that since we prepaid, we would receive a prorated refund if we ever needed to leave the gym, so I'll update if that ever happens. That said, the bathrooms are not always in the best condition, sometimes there's water but no soap at the sinks or vice versa. The group fitness floor and ceiling also have noticeable layers of dust and dirt, which is why I'll never put my hands on the floor for burpees. I bring my own sanitizer wipes to wipe down the mats and equipment for my classes. Still, I truly appreciate the instructors who show up week after week to teach here, and I just wish the evening schedule mirrored the morning class offerings.

missing handle that's been broken for almost a year

they bought out golds gym but i was denied a 7 day pass all because i wasn't interested in buying a membership full time, same machines that have broken for months are still the same, customer service also makes you wait and not helpful

"Love the gains, hate the biohazard." I genuinely enjoy the workouts here at the Arcadia location. The equipment is solid, the layout is nice, and it could be a great gym experience. But the locker room situation? Absolutely not. Saturday afternoon, the trash in the locker room was overflowing -- not "almost full," but fully stacked above the rim like it was auditioning for a landfill. A used latex glove was just sitting on the counter next to an abandoned pre-workout bottle like it had been there long enough to establish residency. It didn't look like it had been touched all day. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. But when I came back the next morning... it was STILL like that. Same trash. Same clutter. Same glove. The only new addition? Fruit flies hovering around the trash like they'd discovered a five-star brunch spot. That's not a busy moment -- that's a lack of basic cleaning. And while we're talking about things you don't expect during cardio: there was a wad of gum sitting in the cup holder of a treadmill -- you know, the exact place people put their phones and water bottles and casually touch without thinking. Nothing like starting your run and discovering someone's discarded chewing gum where your drink is supposed to go. For a gym where people are sweating and sharing spaces, daily maintenance shouldn't be optional. It's expected. And here's the part that really sealed it for me: I overheard the operations manager, Kiara, arguing with another customer about the cleanliness of the men's restroom. Instead of acknowledging the concern, it sounded defensive and dismissive. When members are pointing out hygiene issues, the response shouldn't feel like a debate club tryout. If management comes across as combative about something as simple as cleanliness, it doesn't exactly make you feel comfortable bringing concerns forward. I don't expect perfection. I expect trash to be taken out, fruit flies not to be part of the locker room ecosystem, and treadmill cup holders not to double as gum disposal. Great place to work on your fitness. Less great place to work on your immune system. Clean the locker room.

Steam room doesn't work
Julio C.

Suana and steam room has been down ever since EOS took over. It's been at least a month for the steam room.

This review is strictly about one of EOS'a managers - KIARA. I've been a loyal member of this gym since its early days as Gold's Gym at the mall (1st owner had the best condition & staff), and I've never felt the need to write a review/complaint on a staff member until now. Unfortunately, the experience I had today - Friday, November 14th around 3:30 PM at the Arcadia location was unacceptable - especially from a Manager named KIARA. When I arrived to work out, the gym was actively painting walls in the same areas where members were exercising. The fumes were semi-strong, there was not enough ventilation for the massive amount of painting being done, no signage, no blocked-off sections, and no notice to members in advance. Even the "zero-VOC" paint being used still releases fumes during application, and members shouldn't be inhaling that while working out, given if VOC paint (non-toxic) is less toxic only when dried. I asked the front desk if they had a mask because the smell was overwhelming for some including me. The male staff member (tall Asian guy) politely told me they didn't have any, and I expressed frustration and can report this to the health department because the smell of the paint was genuinely hard to breathe with while exercising. At that point, Kiara (African American woman), the Hiring Manager, came out from the office and inserted herself into the conversation. Instead of addressing the safety concern or even acknowledging it, she repeated that they don't carry masks and then made a very dismissive, catty, & loud comment as I walked away: "HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY - AND THE ONE YOU DESERVE." -- This wasn't said in a professional manner towards reasonably concerned customers with frustration. She was intentionally condescending and said it in a SNOOTY way (*imagine passive aggressive b*tchy teen*) and completely inappropriate for someone in management speaking to a member raising a legitimate health and safety issue. How the F did you even get a job as the hiring manager? Did you use to recruit for a high school gang or what? What a joke. As someone who has supported this gym since day one, this interaction was uncalled for - no matter the frustration I had. I didn't bully at the guy but she clearly came out with an agenda and made it worse. A manager should de-escalate concerns, not dismiss them. And painting in active workout areas without notice or ventilation is simply not safe for members or staff. I hope corporate sees this review, because the Arcadia location deserves better leadership (NOT KIARA), and members deserve basic respect and safe workout conditions. Please feel free to check the cameras around 3:30pm and turn on the volume to confirm what was said- especially by your low quality hiring manager Kiara. There are 2 ways to take ownership of one's job at a company - a) diplomatically w/mindful respect to both the company and customers, b) passive-aggressive style bc you simply never mastered your professional craft. - Let me remind you Kiara - I never said a word to you, and even walked up to your employee to tell him that it's not his fault and it's not personal and he was kind enough to say that he understands the frustration. Kiara - you should learn from the ppl you hire. EOS - Kiara is problematic to your company - mark my words. Update: I spoke with an executive regarding this matter who saw the video of what I had mentioned and agreed with my points. To the "Max" guy's review about my review - asking for a mask does not mean I expected one. If you're down for the smell and rotten attitude of a Manager whose job is dealing with customers that took her first second to lash out, go to a 3rd world country gym. I've been in the gym culture longer than both of you.

UPDATE - AUGUST 2025…read more Over four years and 500+ sessions later, I can say with confidence: Reason Fitness is still the last stop on the road to better health and real results. I've dropped into many CF gyms while traveling, and it's always a relief--and a joy--to come back to Reason. The coaching here is next level. (Kara, Luke, Ed, Lauren to name a few...) Since my original review, these standout coaches helped transform my son into a serious athlete and, ultimately, a United States Air Force Academy appointee. Special shoutout to Coach Ed, who played a key role in getting him physically prepped for the intense USAFA requirements. I'm proudly part of the 5:30 AM crew (the finest hour, in my humble opinion). But no matter when you go, the community is welcoming, down-to-earth, and fun to work out with. One of Reason's true strengths is their ability to attract people who are ready to do the work--and to gently filter out those who aren't quite there yet. They also have a gift for hiring coaches who are not only highly skilled but also genuinely enjoyable to be around. Reason works with you, 1-on-1, to map out a plan that fits your goals--whether that's strength, weight loss, mobility, or just feeling better in your skin. You'll find all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels here. This is not a mirror-lined vanity factory. No egos. No robots. Just people doing the work. If you're serious about making a change--and want a place that will meet you where you are but won't let you stay there--Reason is it.

The kids that work here are great! Very good at customer service and cheap ting the gym up. The machines and free weights are abundant. Nothing wrong with the gym itself or its employees. Still give them a 5-star rating. But Chuze itself needs to be educated!

Their fine print (never mentioned by staff at sign-up) pushes you or even REQUIRES payment by debit card for a single club membership. You're then immediately sent a vague follow-up communication by email/text that easily goes to spam or is not checked---asking you to switch payment to a checking account/routing number. Miss that? This automatically voids your contract-- and you get charge double--- the full multi-club rate. In only 4 months, they ignored my agreement, charged me the inflated rate every single month- plus hit me with two separate annual fees back to back. Two yearly fees in only four months. When I raised it, staff and management deflected, blamed me, and defended the (hidden and vague) policies without addressing the math. In my opinion, this gym (or the parent company ABC fitness Solutions LLC. ) knows what they are doing with this loophole ---as they lean on reaching into the pockets of a young adult, student demographic that may not catch or care about this.

The facility is generally clean, the equipment is well maintained, and I've genuinely enjoyed working out here. On 02/13/2026 at 7:00 AM, while I was in the women's locker room, the cleaning staff announced that the locker room would be closed for one hour for cleaning. I completely understand and support maintaining a clean facility. Since I needed to be at work by 8:30 AM, I adjusted my workout to allow time for a quick shower before leaving at 8:20 AM. However, the locker room was still far from complete at 8:00 AM and again at 8:15 AM. Several members, including myself, were waiting. There are no alternative women's restrooms available in the facility, so those of us who rely on showering before work were significantly impacted. I ultimately had to step around the barricade simply to retrieve my belongings from my locker so I could leave on time (I did not use the shower or restroom). When members asked the front desk how much longer the closure would last, we were told it would remain closed until 9:00 AM, which differed from the original "one hour" announcement. Additionally, during this time, the tone from one of the cleaning staff members toward members retrieving their belongings felt tense. Several other members mentioned they have experienced similar interactions in the past when trying to access lockers during extended cleaning periods. I appreciate that cleanliness is a priority. For members who work out early before heading to work, it may be helpful to know that locker room cleaning during peak morning hours can extend beyond the initially stated timeframe. Clear and consistent communication about exact cleaning schedules and expected duration would likely help members better plan their workouts and avoid unnecessary frustration.
